Favorite of the Beast-world: I Got Rich Through Farming-Chapter 363 - 242: Of Course He Likes It + Modern Toilet
An Jin didn’t dare to burst his beautiful bubble. She was also conflicted over whose cubs these would be. ’What if she gave birth to a few wolf cubs and a school of little fish? Wouldn’t Mi Yin explode with rage?’
"You... didn’t you say you didn’t want offspring?" she asked tentatively.
"No, I do want them." Mi Yin lowered his head, pressing his cheek against hers in an incredibly intimate gesture. He whispered, "From the very beginning, I’ve wanted you to carry my snake eggs. That has never changed."
"Jin’er, you have to understand, there isn’t a single male who doesn’t want his own offspring, especially having his beloved mate carry them..." It was the fruit of a mate’s love for him, the ultimate display of a female’s affection, something all males eagerly vied for.
Moreover, in the Beast World, females were few and males were many. Countless powerful Beastmen went their entire lives regretting that they could never have children of their own.
To say nothing of despised, wandering Snake Beasts, who constantly faced the risk of their bloodline ending.
So whether it was Mi Yin, Ling Hong, or Xi, all three of them held an instinctual and unspoken sense of anticipation and joy about this.
Mi Yin’s situation, however, was more unique. He was afraid the inheritance process of his race would cause her pain, which was why he’d said one thing but meant another back then, claiming he didn’t want any.
The most fundamental reason... was simply that he was afraid of hurting her.
He rested his chin on her head, his eyes lowered as he spoke. Just then, Ling Hong returned with the freshly brewed medicine. Mi Yin released An Jin and gestured with his chin for Ling Hong to bring it over.
"I just finished brewing it, so it might be a little hot. Let’s wait for it to cool down before I feed it to you." Ling Hong’s hands were red from the heat, but he seemed completely unaware of it.
He placed the bowl of medicine on the stone table.
An Jin looked at him, her heart aching. She reached out, her cool fingers covering the back of his hand. "Next time, don’t be in such a rush with freshly brewed medicine. At least let it cool a bit, or wrap it in a cloth before you bring it over."
"The Witch Doctor said you need to drink this three times a day. It’s almost dark now, and I was afraid of running out of time, so I rushed it over as soon as it was done." His expression was one of unconcealed panic.
An Jin realized the two of them were being a bit paranoid and making a fuss over nothing. She, the one actually pregnant, didn’t think it was a big deal, yet these two normally calm and composed men were currently panicking as if a meteor were about to hit the Earth.
’What’s that phrase again? Prenatal anxiety.’
’But isn’t that supposed to happen to me?’
An Jin suppressed a laugh.
The medicine was too hot. Mi Yin took the spoon, scooped some up, and blew on it to cool it down before bringing it to her lips. "Go on, drink," he said softly.
Being held like a cub and spoon-fed medicine made An Jin, a perfectly normal adult, feel incredibly awkward, embarrassed, and ashamed.
Her face flushed slightly as she shifted her hands on his arm. "Um, I can do it myself," she said softly. 𝘧𝑟𝑒𝑒𝘸𝘦𝘣𝑛𝑜𝘷𝑒𝓁.𝘤𝘰𝓂
With that, she reached for the bowl and spoon.
"No." Mi Yin adamantly rejected her reasonable request, moving the spoon far out of her reach, no matter how hard she stretched her arm.
"...!!" An Jin lifted her head to look at him, her cheeks puffed out in a pout.
Mi Yin chuckled softly, his eyes filled with warmth. "You’re too weak right now. It’s best if you don’t move around too much." In the end, however, he couldn’t resist her charmingly petulant expression and placed the spoon in her hand.
Neither of them had any experience caring for a pregnant female, but Chi Li had specifically warned them not to let her get too much exercise during this time.
But as for... what exactly was the standard for "too much" exercise?
Because of the vast physical differences between females and males, neither Mi Yin nor Ling Hong could accurately gauge that standard. They could only have her rest as much as possible and reduce her activity, taking full responsibility for all matters both inside and outside the home.
To that end, the two of them had even stopped hunting and all other activities, dedicating all their time and energy to taking care of her.
...
The dark, murky concoction was made from who-knows-what, and its smell was indescribable. An Jin took a deep breath, pinched her nose, and managed to down it all in one go.
"How do you feel?" Mi Yin stared at her nervously, afraid of missing the slightest change in her expression.
"Blech." She licked her lips. It was bitter. Her brows furrowed even deeper. "It doesn’t taste good. No, it’s disgusting. The bitter taste won’t go away."
Ling Hong brought her a cup of warm water and a few pieces of rock sugar.
An Jin took a few sips of the boiled water to soothe her throat, then popped a piece of rock sugar in her mouth, which finally made her feel a bit better.
This medicine was meant to be taken before meals.
After she finished the medicine, Ling Hong scurried off to the kitchen to start preparing dinner. Mi Yin stayed to chat with An Jin and keep her company, while Xi tied on an apron and followed Ling Hong into the kitchen to help out.
Many pregnant women experience high blood pressure and cholesterol. Although the Beast World didn’t have concepts like "blood lipids" and "blood pressure," seeing Ling Hong’s clearly improved menu—which now included far more fruits, vegetables, and high-protein foods—it was obvious that Chi Li must have given him specific instructions beforehand.
Chi Li had also sent a Beastman to deliver a variety of nuts for her, like pine nuts, walnuts, and peanuts.
According to the Beastmen’s child-rearing experience accumulated over countless generations, these foods were all very suitable for her to eat right now.
After eating and drinking her fill, An Jin started to feel sleepy again. ’Here I go again, embarking on my career of fattening up,’ she grumbled to herself, but her eyelids grew uncontrollably heavy.
Mi Yin wanted to monopolize her during this time, and his animosity toward Ling Hong and Xi was escalating. If not for the fear of making too much noise and disturbing An Jin’s rest, he would have already started dealing with those two eyesores.
In the end, after An Jin’s strenuous mediation, the three of them finally reached a peace agreement: they would each take one day to accompany her.
The threat of this potential, smokeless war was finally defused.
Mi Yin’s last litter had been an accident; she hadn’t even known about it. So, frankly, this was the first time in her two lifetimes that she was properly undertaking the matter of bearing children.
Her lack of experience made her flustered and clumsy about certain things. Fortunately, with Ling Hong and the other two wholeheartedly accompanying her and doing everything in their power to care for her, her life during this period was actually quite pleasant and enjoyable, nothing like the terrible, unbearable ordeal she’d heard about.
The only thing she couldn’t help but complain about was that her pregnancy made her need to use the bathroom constantly, and the three of them would follow her almost inseparably, afraid that some accident might befall her.
"I’m pregnant, not disabled. I’m still capable of taking care of myself," An Jin said, scratching her head, feeling both speechless and mortified.
’I really... do not want to be discussing my bodily functions! Aaaah!’
"I’m going with you, otherwise I won’t be at ease." Mi Yin looked unfazed, not understanding why his mate was so shy when they already knew each other inside and out.
Ling Hong instinctively sensed the atmosphere was a little off. He glanced at her expression, hesitated for a moment, and then said thoughtfully, "Why don’t... you go ahead. We’ll wait for you here."
Besides, they had the mate mark. Even if something did happen, they would know immediately.
Xi also nodded in agreement with Ling Hong.
Although Mi Yin was reluctant, he had no choice but to let the majority rule.
After taking care of business, she quickly returned. Seeing the three of them waiting obediently right where she left them, not having moved a single step, a smile couldn’t help but touch her lips.
Thankfully, she’d had the foresight to build a toilet next to the castle beforehand—she really couldn’t accept the primitive way of relieving oneself. Plus, the toilet had plumbing, making it very convenient and hygienic to use, almost no different from a modern one.
