Chapter 73: Ignored wants and forced responsibilities.

Zevran.

I woke up with a start and to a throbbing ache in my cock that was impossible to ignore.

Groaning, I sat up quickly and rubbed at my face, only to pause in shock when I realized that it had all been a dream. A pretty chaotic erotic dream that I couldn’t shake off from my mind.

Flashes of the so-called dreams rushed into my head... and I groaned when her creamy white skin gleaming with sweat swept across my mind... gosh, I could still see her full round breasts that bounced whenever I thrust into her.

And her full pink lips that made an O-shape whenever I hit a spot deep inside of her. My body still tingled with the feel of her trembling legs wrapped around my waist, as if trapping me in.

As if dragging me into an abyss of danger and pleasure.

She was a siren... my siren.

But it wasn’t Chalice I’d dreamed of... it was Leilani.

Cursing under my breath, I flung the bed covers off my body, my eyes widening when my erect cock came into view. It was hard and painful; and wanted... no, desperately needed to be buried in the exact same warmth I’d felt in my dreams.

But ignoring it, I continued the rest of the morning in a daze, arriving at the breakfast table minutes later only to find my brothers in sour moods just like mine.

From the looks on their faces and the weird way they walked, I instinctively knew that we were likely suffering from the same fate as me.

But I couldn’t help but wonder: why now? Why us?

Why Leilani?

"Down to earth, Zevran!" Caelum drawled from beside me, his cutlery scraping across his plate as he turned to face me.

My hand hovered over the glass of water in front of me but I couldn’t bring myself to pick it up. I couldn’t even bring the food to my mouth. My appetite was long gone.

I mumbled; "I’m on earth."

"You don’t look like you are." He spat back, his eyes glinting with just enough charm. But he didn’t look like himself this morning either... Moreover, there was also a bulge in his pants.

"We’re going to see Chalice today at the hospital. I’ve instructed the servants to gather some presents for her. When she’s discharged from the hospital this weekend. We’ll complete our marriage rites with her and get married." Kael suddenly butted in, causing my eyes to snap open in surprise.

One look at Caelum’s face and I realized that he was in on this too. I frowned, seething; "You guys have talked about this before?"

"Yes." Kael drawled, letting his fork fall freely into his plate of scrambled eggs. "Yes, we have. And I don’t see why it’s such a big deal."

"It’s a big deal because you didn’t think to ask for my input! You didn’t care to know if I was willing to get married to—"

"To Chalice?" Caelum scoffed darkly, interrupting me. "Who else can we ever get married to if not her? Huh?"

"She’s been betrothed to us for so long. It’s only logical that we make it official now. It won’t hurt anyone to do that." Kael snapped dismissively, and the more I listened to them speak, the more the knife in my chest squeezed further.

I groaned, slamming my fist against the table, and ignoring the way that action sent a few objects flying. Even Caelum’s rice spilled from his plate but I did not care. I couldn’t bring myself to.

I spat; "I know she’s been promised to us! I know about it all but can’t this whole marriage nonsense wait for a few more months? Why do you all have to make it so sudden? For how long has this plan been going on?"

"Since yesterday..." Kael answered and I rolled my eyes.

Typical.

"Yesterday!" I seethed. "You guys planned yesterday to get married to her by the weekend?"

"Yes."

"And doesn’t that sound a bit too rushed to you both? Doesn’t it perhaps make you both look stupid and desperate?"

"ZEVRAN!"

"It’s a yes or no question!" I slurred. "You don’t have to be so uptight about it. What you should do is answer accordingly. Do you both not look stupid right now, after saying that?"

At that, Caelum swiftly rose to his feet, causing the items on the table to rattle perilously. Like this, his bulge was now out in the open, and as soon as Kael saw it, he lowered his gaze, a flicker of uncertainty fleeting across his features.

Caelum growled; "Chalice has done so much for us!"

"And I’m not disputing that fact. Am I?"

"She’s diagnosed with GTD because she lost OUR BABY! OURS!"

"I never pretended not to know that or did I?" I scoffed, then rolling my eyes, I snapped. "Why are you even asking these questions? I never for once said I wasn’t going to wed her! I’m only against the fact that the whole arrangement is coming off too fast!"

"What other time is better to compensate her than now?" Kael snapped, but before I could respond, Caelum growled;

"You think I do not know that you’re pulling these stunts because of Leilani? Because for some reason known to just you, you’re still hung up on that bitch who has done nothing but create chaos?"

"I’m not hung up on her!" I screamed back at him, rising to my feet just as Kael rose too. "Stop saying nonsense!"

"And you think I’ll buy that? You think I don’t see the way you look at her?"

"And you think I don’t see the tent in your pants after having erotic dreams about the same Leilani?!" I yelled back at him, noticing the way his face froze before all the fight slipped out of him like air out of a burst balloon.

If I was wrong, he would’ve corrected me.

But he didn’t.

Thankfully, I had soaked myself in cold water and exercised earlier before coming down for breakfast. So right now, it was only Caelum and Kael that sported bulges in their pants.

They didn’t speak, but I knew what their silence meant. They’d been caught by me.

However, what I didn’t understand was why they were willing to push up the wedding simply because they wanted to ’compensate’ Chalice. I mean, what happened to their usual gift bearing fashion?

What happened to buying her a penthouse, a rare luxury piece or flying her abroad for better treatment?

Deciding that I couldn’t stand this anymore, I turned away to storm out of the dining room only to stop dead in my tracks when a maidservant came rushing towards us.

Her name was Gale and she was one of our oldest staff. She immediately bowed, pressing her hand against her chest as she cried; "It’s Lady Chalice, Alphas. We just got a call from the hospital that she’s been hemorrhaging badly for the past two hours and that there isn’t any more blood left in the reservoir that matches her blood type. She’s running out of time!"

My heart stopped beating. I turned quickly to face my brothers and sure enough, the panic on their faces was just as much as the one I felt in my veins.

Chalice and Leilani both had Rh-null blood types which was as rare as it was expensive to find especially in crucial moments like this.

My heart raced as the words slipped out of my mouth before I could stop it. I asked; "What should we do now?!"

Caelum’s eyes glinted wickedly as he immediately turned to me with a smile so sharp it sent shivers running up my spine. He drawled;

"Leilani and Chalice share the same blood type. We should get Leilani to donate since she’s the cause of this whole mess in the first place."

"But... but she wouldn’t agree to do that." I snapped, frowning. "We cannot force her to do it if she doesn’t want to."

"Then we should kidnap her." Kael answered with conviction. "Like Caelum said, she’s the reason all this happened in the first place. It’ll be nice if she’s made to put an end to it."

And with that, he walked away with Caelum following closely behind him, while all I could do was stare at their retreating backs in confusion and rage.

And something else.

Something that felt oddly like an irresistible urge to protect Leilani.

I raced out of the house.
