Fated To Three, Betrayed By All… Until She Rose.-Chapter 59: Stoking the fire.
Leilani.
We changed out of our clothes and into robes for the sauna room, and when we got in, the first thing we were greeted with was the warm air, the strangely sweet steam that’s been calling out to me for days now.
I stepped in, completely forgetting about the lady behind me and went into the furthest corner I could find— away from the chatters and definitely away from my twin sister.
I plopped into the bench and closed my eyes as I dropped my head to rest behind me.
This was the sweetest thing I’ve felt in a few weeks. The closest to orgasm I’d ever experienced in like, forever.
My lips parted in delight when the warm steam floated around my body, but my peace and quiet was suddenly shattered when a high pitched voice suddenly yelled; "Why did you walk out on me?!"
Chalice.
Goddess, I hate this girl. "I didn’t walk out on you," I said quietly. "There’s just more than enough space for you to walk around here... you don’t need to be joined to me by the waist. You said your baby needs the sauna, not Leilani."
She rolled her eyes at me, her face tugging downward into a frown. She spat; "There’s no baby."
My eyes bulged, but deciding that it was none of my business, I shrugged. "I’m not surprised, you’ve done quite a lot of things like this in the past. All I want is for you to stay away from me."
"And why will I do that?"
"Because I don’t want you around me; you’re a fucking walking disaster. Isn’t that reason enough?"
Chalice chuckled low and dark. She swung her hair away from her face and glared at me, her gaze turning my blood to ice. She drawled; "But baby, how do I stay away when you’ve been my ticket to stardom for as long as I can remember?"
I said nothing. I simply grounded my teeth together.
"I don’t know why life has made it so but I don’t get to enjoy anything until you’re suffering for it. I only get to be loved when you’re being tossed to the curb. If I want your mates to shower me with attention, all I need to do is get you into trouble."
My heart squeezed tight and I blinked away the tears burning at the corners of my eyes. "Chalice, I’m warning you, don’t do something stupid."
"Now, I want them to marry me as soon as possible. I also know that they’ve not rejected you yet and I need them to do that; So tell me, what do you think I would do?"
My heart raced. I spat; "Go fuck yourself!"
"Wrong answer, sister..." she drawled with a smile, as if this was funny. As if my entire life has been nothing but a joke to her.
My body shook with rage and something else... something that tethered towards fear. And I hated it. I hated myself for being so weak. So cowardly. So easily trampled on.
Wiping off my tears with the back of my hand, I rose to my feet and turned away, only to stumble when Chalice swung me around so fast, I nearly lost my footing.
Her voice dropped into a menacing growl. Cold and intimidating. She spat; "You don’t get to walk out on me, Leilani. Not when I’m not done with you."
"Is this why you adamantly followed me into the sauna? To threaten me? To hurt me?"
When Chalice laughed this time, the sound scraped against the surface of my skin. It irked me as well as sent goosebumps spreading across my back. She tipped her head to the back and snorted; "No, don’t flatter yourself. I’m not here to hurt you. I’m here to hurt me."
My eyes widened at the implications of her words. Even my pulse picked up speed. "Stop this thing already." I seethed; "It’s getting too old."
"Well, I’m desperate and it’s not my fault you’re always at the wrong place at the wrong time." She spat, and with that, she pushed me hard and latched onto me. And goddess, I struggled, desperately trying not to hit the ground. But with Chalice holding onto me and tipping us in a perilous angle, it was inevitable.
We both crashed to the floor, my head smacking against the bench while Chalice’s hit the floor with a loud thud.
The few people in the sauna with us rushed over, their eyes widening when they saw what had happened.
However, Chalice obviously had a game plan because as soon as the people arrived, she began to cry and hit her head against the floor, screaming; "I’m sorry Leilani. I’m really sorry. You can take out your angst on me and the triplets, but not on my baby. He knows nothing. Please."
I was flabbergasted. My mouth hung open. Even the women began to whisper amongst themselves, whilst glaring at me with open contempt, while some tried to help Chalice up.
She groaned when they tried to help her stand, her hand clutching at her belly as she moaned; "...my stomach hurts."
"Hey, hey, try to stand up so that we can help you out of here." A middle aged blonde woman said to her, and Chalice nodded.
She tried again to stand up but stopped, screaming; "It hurts so much! Leilani, why did you push me?!"
At her accusation, the murmurs in the room increased. Everyone turned to me, their eyes blazing with rage unchecked.
"I didn’t..." I muttered, egging her on, waiting to see just what she wanted to play at.
"You did!" She screamed back at me, "...everyone saw it happen. Didn’t they?"
My surprise knew no bounds when the women behind her nodded in agreement, and I scoffed, rolling my eyes at the incredulity of it all. "You guys didn’t see shit."
"Yes, we did!" One red haired said. "You pushed her!"
She was however cut off when Chalice screamed again and I looked down at her just then to see blood pooling beneath her. The women screamed. Some rushed out half naked to call for help.
And like that, the room descended into chaos.
But I was unfazed. Why? Because I’d expected something like this.
I had recorded our entire conversation. And this... this just goes to prove just how hell bent Chalice was at her golden plan to ruin my life.
Gavin barged in moments later with some health officers pushing in a stretcher.
His eyes landed on Chalice’s frail form just once before he turned to me with all the malice in the entire universe gleaming in his eyes. "What happened to her?!" He barked.
"She’s the one on the floor," I answered sarcastically. "I’m not. Maybe you should ask her."
"Leilani—"
"Gavin, the baby!" Chalice butted in. " I think I’ve lost the baby! I’m in so much pain! I can’t..." her sentence broke into incoherent words as she sobbed loudly. Uncontrollably.
The blood pooled beneath her, some of it trailing down her legs as she continued to cry and scream.
But still, I didn’t say a word. I couldn’t bring myself to... just not yet.
"What happened?" Now, he was no longer asking me, he was asking Chalice.
Her eyes snagged onto mine for a brief second but Gavin didn’t miss that exchange. He stepped forward, his fingers wrapping around my neck as he asked; "She did this?"
Chalice nodded once. "I’m sorry, Leilani." She cried. "But Gavin, I don’t blame her. She seems mad that now I am pregnant with the triplets’ baby... and they’re still her mates."
"And she struck you?!" He yelled, sounding like he was physically in pain. "Is it your fault?"
"Maybe it is!" Chalice countered. And as if to stoke the fire, the blonde woman butted in;
"She pushed your sister. She pushed her so hard she slammed her stomach against the floor. It’ll be a miracle if that baby survives."
That was the last thing I heard— no, not the last thing— the last thing I heard was a loud ’Crack’ and then pain exploded on my face before the world went black.
But this time, when I was going out, I didn’t feel despair like I usually would. I felt content.
I was glad.
