Fated to the Triplet Alphas-Chapter 43: Curse and Solution
**************
Chapter 43
~Jade’s POV~
Xavier kissed me deeply, desperately, his tongue demanding entry as the heat took total control of him in unrestrained hunger.
He groaned into my mouth, his hands moving over my body with a desperation that made my own wolf howl in response. He was losing it for the first time.
It was just as I had dreamed. My dream? Did I do... cause this?
I barely had time to think or register how good it felt to have him kiss me. Xavier devoured me like he had been starving for weeks. I moaned into his mouth, hands flying to his shoulders, fingers digging in as the bond roared awake between us.
His hand slid beneath my shirt, palm scorching my bare skin. He rocked against me, letting me feel the thick length of his hard-on straining behind his jeans. Heat flooded me, Javelin rising eagerly, clawing at the surface.
Xavier tore his mouth from mine only to drag it down my throat, teeth scraping my pulse point. "Need you," he growled against my skin. "Can’t think... can’t stop."
His fingers fumbled at the button of my uniform skirt. The bond pulsed brighter, hotter, so that it was almost painful.
The front door burst open as Xander, and Xade stormed inside, eyes blazing the same furious red.
"Xavier!" Xander’s voice cracked like a whip.
Xade lunged, grabbing his brother’s shoulder and hauling him back with force.
Xavier snarled, struggling, but Xander stepped between us, hands planted on Xavier’s chest.
"Control it," Xander ordered. "Fight it back. Now."
Xavier shuddered. The crimson slowly bled from his eyes. He staggered away, dragging both hands over his face, breathing raggedly.
I stayed against the wall even after they dragged him away, my legs refusing to remember how standing worked. My lips tingled and felt bruised in the best and worst way, swollen from the force of his kiss, not calming or fading, only pulsing harder the more distance he put between us.
My chest rose too fast, and every breath carried him — his scent, his heat, his need — still wrapped around my skin like it hadn’t gotten the message the moment was over.
I hated that my body leaned forward before my mind did.
I forced myself to straighten, fingers trembling as I pressed them against my mouth, but the memory of his lips only sharpened instead of fading.
Javelin paced restlessly inside me, agitated rather than soothed, and the bond still hummed low beneath my ribs as if it had been interrupted, not stopped.
Only then did the embarrassment start catching up.
Xade’s gaze found mine, worry cutting through the haze. "Jade... are you hurt?"
I shook my head, voice barely above a whisper. "No. But... What’s happening to him?" I asked, pushing off the wall on unsteady legs.
Xander exhaled, shoulders dropping slightly. "It’s hitting earlier. Harder."
"What is?" I tore my gaze from Xander. I could tell he was fighting not to reveal it to me. So I looked at Xade, hoping for some form of answer, but he looked away in guilt.
My gaze darted over to Xavier. His chest rose and fell with each successive breath. As soon as our eyes locked, he turned away. "I’m sorry," he said hoarsely, not turning around. "I shouldn’t have touched you like that."
I touched my swollen lips. The golden light from the dream flickered in my memory again.
"What is going on?"
Xander rubbed the back of his neck, glancing once at his brothers before looking anywhere but at me. "It’s nothing you need to worry about right now."
I stared at him. "Nothing to worry about?" I repeated slowly. "You called in sick—all three of you. The entire school is whispering about it. If it’s nothing, then why are you all acting like this?"
Xavier still had his back to me, shoulders rigid. Xade kept his eyes on the floor. None of them answered.
Frustration bubbled up fast. I let out a sharp, irritated sound—half growl, half sigh—and crossed my arms.
"I deserve to know. You three keep saying I’m your mate. If you actually plan on accepting that—on accepting me—then there has to be some kind of trust here."
No one said anything. It felt like I was speaking to a wall of bricks.
I tried again, "I just showed you the most secret part of myself. I let Javelin out in front of you. I agreed to every single rule you laid down, every brutal training session, every shift, every evaluation. I’m trying. The least you can do is tell me why one of you just lost complete control and nearly—" I cut myself off, swallowing hard. "Why did it feel like you were about to lose control completely right here with me?"
The more words spilled out of me, the more my whole body started to tremble. Not from fear but from anger, the unfairness of being kept in the dark when I had already laid myself bare in every way that mattered. My hands clenched at my sides, nails biting into my palms.
Xade noticed first. His head snapped up, eyes softening with concern. He crossed the distance in two strides and gently caught my wrists, thumbs brushing over the pulse points there in slow, soothing circles.
"Hey," he murmured. "Breathe, Jade. Just breathe."
I tried. I really did. But the shaking only spread until my teeth were almost chattering.
Xander and Xavier exchanged a long look over my head, resignation, maybe, or the final snap of a decision they had been avoiding.
I could tell they were speaking, and heck, I hated that I couldn’t share a mindlink with them.
Xander exhaled through his nose. "I suppose it’s time we let her know."
Xade’s grip on my wrists tightened for a second. "I’m not sure she’s ready."
"Ready for what?" I demanded. I pulled free of Xade’s hold and stepped around him before he could stop me. I planted myself directly in front of Xavier, forcing him to meet my eyes.
"Ready to have three mates? Or ready to have three mates who look like they’re about to go completely insane and lose control of themselves like you just did here and in my dream?"
Xavier’s brows shot up. "Wait. You dreamt about us?"
I groaned and dragged both hands down my face. Heat crawled up my neck again, worse than before.
"That’s not the point. Yes, I did. And it was a... wet..." I faltered when I saw the way all three of them were suddenly staring at me—intense, focused, almost hungry.
"It doesn’t matter. But in the dream, your tattoos—the crescent moons on your chests—they started glowing. This golden light came out of the star in the centre and spread through you three to me. I could feel you. All of you. I could feel your... your need. Your arousal. Everything."
Silence stretched for one heartbeat. Two before Xade cleared his throat. "So you felt us through the bond even in your sleep?"
I nodded miserably, dropping my hands. "Yeah. I had a very detailed wet dream about the three of you. Happy now?"
I buried my face in my hands again, mortified, wishing the marble floor would open up and swallow me whole.
Xade turned slightly toward his brothers. "This means something. She’s already connected to us on that level—dreams, physical reactions, and the way her wolf responds. She deserves to know about us and why we’re like this."
Xander studied me for a long moment, something almost pained flickering across his face. Xavier finally lifted his head fully. The crimson was gone from his eyes now, leaving only exhaustion and a quiet kind of regret.
"Jade," Xavier said softly, "there’s something we’ve been carrying for a very long time. Something that’s getting worse."
My stomach twisted. "Tell me."
He glanced at Xander, who gave one slow nod.
Xavier took a careful step closer—not crowding me, just enough that I could feel the warmth radiating off him again.
"We’re cursed," he said quietly.
I blinked, hoping my ears could hear clearly. "Cursed? Like... actual cursed?"
Xavier nodded. "All three of us. It started years ago." He didn’t look at me when he spoke. "It doesn’t feel like sickness," he said quietly. "It feels like something inside us trying to break out of our own skin."
His jaw tightened before he continued. "At first, it was rare. We could prepare for it. Lock ourselves away. Wait it out." He exhaled slowly. "Then it stopped waiting for us to be ready."
Xade leaned back against the wall, eyes lowered. "Pain first. Then our wolves stop listening." His voice was softer than I had ever heard it. "After that... we stop being ourselves. The heat takes over."
Xander folded his arms, but it looked more like holding himself together. "And each time it comes back stronger."
I was shocked by this reveal. "How often?"
Xander exchanged glances with them, then sighed. It looked like he had been chosen to speak.
"Well... The episodes are supposed to come predictably. It started twice a year. After that, it became once every three months. Like clockwork."
"But this time," Xade continued when Xavier paused, "it’s early. Mid last year it shortened to every month. After that, it started getting closer together. We’ve never had it hit back-to-back like this."
Xander folded his arms across his chest. "We think... we think you might be the reason it’s changing."
I blinked. "Me?"
"Yes. Ever since we found our mate, it has happened more frequently than before," Xade explained.
"And maybe your wolf," Xander added.
My heart skipped a beat. "Javelin? What has she got to do with this?"
"Everything, we are linked." Xavier hesitated longer this time. When he finally spoke, the words came carefully. "And the only way to stop it... is our mate."
