Fated To Four Alphas Even Though I Am Mute-Chapter 66: Suspect
Sofia’s POV
I watched carefully as Damian and his brothers began organizing the questioning. The staff members were terrified as they should be because the Alphas had made their threats very clear and from the looks on their faces they meant every word.
I hated Heaven so much but I didn’t want her dead just yet. Not yet anyway. I needed her alive because I needed her to watch as I took the Alphas all for myself.
I wanted her to see me with them and to feel the pain of losing everything she thought was hers. She deserved to suffer and not die quickly. Death was too easy. Watching me take what she loved that was the true punishment.
My eyes scanned the crowd observing each person’s reaction. Most of them looked genuinely shocked and scared.
A few seemed confused while some were crying quietly into their hands. But two in particular caught my attention.
The twin maids Bia and Mia who had always hated Heaven. I knew them so well and now they were acting strange.
Right now they were standing near the back of the group and they looked more than just scared because they looked guilty.
While everyone else was focused on the Alphas the twins kept exchanging nervous glances. Mia’s hands were shaking so badly she had to clasp them together to hide it. Bia kept biting her lip and her eyes were darting around the room like she was looking for an escape route. Sweat beaded on their foreheads even though the hall wasn’t warm.
I filed that observation away for later. I needed to get those two alone somehow. If they knew something and their body language screamed that they did I needed to find out what it was before they told the Alphas because this could be useful. Very useful.
"Bia and Mia come forward," Damian called out loud.
I saw them jump. They were shivering. I knew I had to act fast.
I waited and watch their reaction. I wanted to confirm if they were really the one that cursed Heaven.
they I saw them stammering to answer simple questions. Likewhere they were yesterday and what they were doing.
Bia and Mia were tough and fur then to shiver and stammer like this means that they were guilty
That as when I realized that they really were the ones that cursed Heaven.
I gave the twins a look. ’Stay there.’ They looked relieved but also confused. They knew I was lying but they were happy not to be questioned by Desmond.
The questioning went on for what felt like hours. Damian was thorough and ruthless. He asked each person where they were and what they saw and who they talked to. He didn’t miss anything. Damon was intimidating and harsh with his voice loud and sharp making people flinch with every word.
Desmond was seated there with Damian faking that he could read minds when he couldn’t.
I knew he was bluffing. There were too many people in the room. Too many thoughts all mixed together. He was rubbing his head because it hurt but he wasn’t getting any real answers. He was just trying to scare them.
Dylan asked pointed questions that often caught people off guard changing topics quickly to see if anyone slipped up.
Heaven watched everything silently from her chair. She looked pale and exhausted but she refused to leave. Stubborn bitch. Mrs. Higgins stayed close to her occasionally whispering something in her ear. Probably trying to comfort her. How sweet. It made me sick.
I kept my position by the wall observing and acting like I was concerned. But I was far from that.
After the questioning had gone on for several hours with no real results Damian called for a brief break. The staff members were told to remain in the hall under guard while the quadruplets had a meeting.
Damian approached me. He looked really exhausted.
"This is going nowhere," he said quietly running a hand through his dark hair. "No one is talking."
"Maybe they really don’t know anything," I suggested gently keeping my voice soft and understanding.
"Or maybe they’re too scared to talk," he countered. His jaw tightened with frustration.
I nodded sympathetically tilting my head to the side. "What will you do now?"
"We’ll keep questioning," he said. "But I need to check on some security footage with Dylan first because we have cameras in the hallways so maybe they caught something and it’s a long shot but we have to try everything."
"That’s a good idea," I said. I reached out and touched his arm gently. "You’re doing everything you can."
He looked at me with gratitude in his eyes. "Thank you for being here Sofia because it helps to have your support and I don’t know what we’d do without you."
I smiled warmly at him letting my hand linger on his arm for just a moment longer than necessary. "Of course because I want to help in any way I can and you know that."
Damian hesitated then said. "Come with us to review the report of the thing I got from the interrogation."
That was cute of him to ask me to review the repot but I think I have caught the culprit and there would be no need.
I turned and looked at Bia and Mia then back at Damian again and I smiled
"Oh I’d be happy to help. But actually I left something important in my room in the North Wing like some notes my father gave me about black magic and curses. So would it be alright if I ran to get them first?"
Damian looked disappointed but nodded. "Of course but please don’t take long because we need all the help we can get right now."
"I’ll be quick, I promise. Just ten minutes or maybe fifteen."
"Alright, Meet us in my study when you’re done." He said
I nodded and turned to leave but then I paused as if something had just occurred to me. I turned back to where Bia and Mia were standing with the other maids huddled together like scared children. 𝒻𝘳ℯℯ𝑤ℯ𝒷𝘯ℴ𝓋ℯ𝘭.𝑐ℴ𝑚
"Actually, Bia and Mia could you two come with me? I need help carrying some cloth that I want to be moved to my new room." I said loudly so that Damian could hear me.
The twins eyes went wide with fear. They looked at each other then at me then at the Alphas. I could see their minds working trying to figure out if this was good or bad.
Damian waved his hand dismissively. "Fine but come straight back when you’re done because we’ll need to question them individually later."
But I went to him and I hugged him tightly. I released my body from his and looked up at him then to my side where Heaven was sitter expecting to look towards our direction and look hurt but she wasn’t.
She didn’t even look at us. She was probably still concentrated on looking for the person who almost killed get.
"Of course Damian ," I said with a smile
I gestured for the twins to follow me. They came slowly and reluctantly like they knew they were guilty. Which in a way they were they just didn’t know it yet.
As we walked out of the great hall and down the corridor toward the North Wing neither of them spoke. They just followed me silently and I could feel their and I could feel them getting tense.
I led them through the quiet hallways. Most of the mansion was empty since everyone was gathered in the great hall.
