Fated: The Alpha's Unwanted Luna-Chapter 110: Whispered words
Sebastian was disappointed when she didn’t reply; however, he didn’t say anything else until he took her back to his room and carefully set her on the sofa. Then he warned, "Don’t move an inch from there," before turning away to retrieve a box of first aid supplies from his closet, where he kept it for his sister’s sake as she had a slow healing ability that required human treatment to aid it at times.
Viola let out a breath she hadn’t realized she was holding when he came back with the first aid box in his hand, relieved that it meant he wouldn’t be using his tongue to heal her bruises and injuries, because it would have been completely inappropriate to do such a thing in human form. She wanted to avoid having his tongue on her skin again as much as possible.
She reached out, intending to take the box from him and treat herself, but he moved it away from her reach and swatted gently at her hand. "Let me do it. Sit still."
Viola began to part her lips to tell him that she was perfectly capable of treating herself, and in fact, the injuries were not a big deal, as she had endured worse than this in the past. But he had crouched down in front of her, placing the box on the floor and reaching out to lift the hem of her dress over her knees, bouncing up across her thighs so he could see the extent of her injured knees.
"If you don’t sit still and move again, I will be forced to use my tongue. I will naturally assume you’d prefer I lick you rather than use the kit?" he questioned when she attempted to push the dress back down, looking up at her from his crouching position.
Viola instantly stopped, sitting still and allowing him to do whatever he wanted, as long as his tongue wasn’t involved in the treatment.
"Good girl," he praised, opening the box and retrieving a cotton pad. They weren’t serious injuries, just bruises with light bleeding around them, which made him sigh in relief because he was grateful she hadn’t broken her skull from falling down the stairs like that. The thought of her being harmed right inside his house by an insignificant omega he had only been kind to for the sake of his mother made his jaw clench.
Angela should feel lucky that he still respected her mother; otherwise, he would have immediately banished her from his pack for daring to scheme against his mate.
He gently dabbed the cotton pad against her skin to wipe away the slight bleeding from the bruise before reaching for the ointment jar and uncapping it. He blew a soft stream of air over her knees as if trying to soothe any discomfort or lingering pain.
Viola jolted when she felt his warm breath, and her fingers tightened around her dress when he dipped his index and middle fingers into the jar of gel ointment and slowly rubbed it over her bruised knees. The contact sent an electric-like spark through her body, causing her to shiver. She bit down on her lip at the unexpected current, knowing he must have felt it as well, because he suddenly looked up at her, forcing her to quickly avert her gaze and pretend she hadn’t felt anything at all.
Sebastian frowned as he resumed rubbing the gel ointment into her skin. He could have sworn he had heard her take a sharp inhale and shiver at his touch, as if she had felt the same delightful spark he had. Had he imagined it? Or had she reacted like that purely from pain?
But as he continued to rub the ointment in slow circles, he couldn’t help noticing the goosebumps rising on her fair thighs, just as he felt them rising along his own arms.
Seeing this reaction, he couldn’t help but wonder If she had her wolf, would he also be her fated mate just as she was his? Many of his mates had other mates, and the bond always turned out one-sided, but with her not having a wolf, there was no way he would know.
Wanting to test if she was indeed feeling the spark, he rubbed lazy circle around her kneecap, inching away from the bruises.
Viola’s throat went dry, and she felt her stomach flip in a way that made warmth settle inside her as his finger inched up toward her thighs where the dress was gathered. When she felt him pushing the dress further up slowly, like a pirate trying to uncover some treasure hidden inside her dress, she became aware that he was doing more than just attending to her injuries and looked down.
Like a thief caught in the act, he quickly withdrew his hand from her thighs. Viola flushed scarlet, but she couldn’t say anything about his shameless action, as acknowledging it would do nothing but unnerve her further.
She pursed her lips, clenching her fingers at her sides. When he asked if there were other places where she was hurt, Viola was quick to say,
"That’s all. Can I go now?" she asked, her eyes falling on her purse on his bed, which she had come earlier to retrieve but had fallen into Angela’s scheme.
"Not yet," Sebastian said as he rose to his feet and retrieved her purse from the bed. He opened it and placed the small jar of ointment inside so she could use it again later if needed. He then moved to hand it back to her, but as though suddenly remembering something important, he paused and asked, 𝙛𝓻𝒆𝒆𝒘𝙚𝓫𝙣𝙤𝒗𝙚𝓵.𝙘𝙤𝙢
"Do you like my gift?"
He was referring to the set of jewelry he had sent her the previous day.
Viola had completely forgotten about the very expensive set of jewelry sitting in her living room, as she had thought about how to return it but hadn’t gotten to it yet. But him bringing it up now reminded her and proved that he hadn’t sent it by mistake.
"It’s beautiful," she said honestly, and Sebastian almost began to smile. But she continued,
"Unfortunately, I can’t keep it. You can take it back when we return to the High Tower. I don’t have anything to do with it."
His smile disappeared completely, replaced by a scowl. She didn’t like it? All women liked jewelry, and the more expensive, the more they valued it. "Is there something wrong with it? Is it not to your taste?" he asked.
"No, I just don’t want to keep it. And please, next time refrain from wasting your money buying me any gifts, because I won’t wear them." Saying that, she got up to her feet and began to turn away, but Sebastian was quick to catch her before she could run, as it seemed that was her favorite thing to do: always escape him. Did she like him to keep chasing her? Was she perhaps playing a game of push and pull with him?
"I bought them for you; they belong to you now," he said, reining in his temper as Muffin had advised him. He had been told never to lash out at her, or he would lose his chances of making amends completely. Women don’t like getting yelled at, and he knew Viola would run from him more if he ever resorted to yelling, not that he wanted that in their relationship, if there was any relationship at all.
"And I don’t want them," Viola retorted, her deep frown making her look even more determined. Do you force people to take gifts they don’t want? she wondered, glaring at him.
She watched as his expression gradually softened from its earlier hardness, and before she could even attempt to push back, he pulled her forward, his arm snaking around her waist. He leaned down close, whispering in her ear, his hot breath fanning her earlobe and sending tiny shivers with every word he spoke.
"If you return them to me, I will only get rid of them. Take them as my gift to you for winning the right to become my wife. I have a very bad habit of spoiling my wife, and you will soon be in that position. Start getting used to it, sweetheart," he murmured, brushing his lips against her ear, making her shiver involuntarily. "I like it when you shiver like that." He pressed a quick, warm kiss against her lobe before moving his head back, grinning in satisfaction at how red she had turned, like a ripe strawberry, a strikingly captivating berry.
"Shall we?" He extended his hand with the poise of a gentleman, but she ignored it entirely and hurried past him, rushing to the door as if fleeing a demon in the room. Was she shy?
Still grinning and mentally shaking his head, Sebastian bent down, gathering her high heels from the floor in one hand and her purse in the other, and went after her. "Be careful on the stairs, darling. I am not chasing you," he called out, wanting her to avoid tripping, but Viola ran as if she were fleeing for her life, her heart throbbing wildly within her chest.
