Farming with Entries: From Lord to Emperor-Chapter 486 - 257: Frost Iron Guard Arrests Without Evidence! (Part 2)
"I said I understand!"
Luo De’s expression remained calm, but the killing intent in his eyes made the smile on Keao Ge’s face freeze instantly.
The temperature in the hall seemed to drop by a few degrees.
Keao Ge swallowed hard, forced himself to stop trembling, and closed his mouth while keeping his head down.
Luo De waved his hand at Lawrence.
Lawrence immediately understood and stepped forward,
"Come, messenger, I’ll take you to rest."
"Alright, thank you."
There was a slight tremor in Keao Ge’s voice.
As soon as he walked out the door, he was surrounded by four Frost Iron Guards and escorted to a wooden hut to rest.
Keao Ge had just left when Wolfhoof immediately turned to Luo De and said,
"Saint Master, just nod, and I’ll hang him up and strangle him!"
"Wolfhoof, as much as I’d like to, we can’t kill this messenger."
Durant looked at Wolfhoof, somewhat helplessly, "Not only would that violate Empire laws, but it would also bring scorn from other nobles."
"Moreover, he only delivered a message with proper etiquette throughout; we have no reason to kill him."
"He’s here to seize Miss Avril, isn’t that reason enough?"
Wolfhoof’s tone was sharp, "That’s provocation!"
"He came with orders from the Red Griffin Clan. He’s following the rules."
Durant sighed, "On the contrary, we don’t have any marriage contract, which isn’t according to the rules..."
"What rules and what not, if they dare to seize, just kill them all!"
Seronie put her hands on her hips, "Anyway, I’m not from your Empire, I’ll do it!"
"Lord Rod, just give me some men and I’ll wipe out that Long Winter Town for you!"
Seronie shouted loudly, with a fierce look on her face,
"Lizardmen are all dead, what’s killing a few people!"
Just as Seronie finished speaking, Avril appeared in the hallway inside.
Everyone nodded and saluted, and the lord’s hall was plunged into silence.
Avril slowly walked up to Luo De without saying a word, but the anxious expression betrayed her uneasy heart.
"Don’t worry, nothing will happen."
Luo De held Avril’s hand and then Vivian’s,
"I won’t let anyone take you away."
Avril nodded and gripped Luo De’s hand tightly.
Luo De turned back to the four,
"I’m not going to kill this messenger; I need someone to go back with him to verify the marriage contract between the Red Griffin Clan and the Shield-Breaker Clan."
"And then, die there."
Luo De’s words left everyone obviously stunned.
Durant was the first to react, his eyes shining,
"Baron, I can do it!"
Durant knew very well that if the messenger died in Long Winter Town, it would be justified to avenge him, and cleansing Long Winter Town would be legitimate.
In the ensuing chaos, who would live or die would be beyond anyone’s control.
"Don’t joke around, Durant, I know you’re loyal, but there’s no need for you to sacrifice."
Luo De quickly gestured to stop the others who were eager to volunteer,
"You all stop talking nonsense; I mean for you to find someone below."
Luo De seriously promised, "As long as he’s willing, I’ll take care of his family; his children will become nobles of Frost Leaf Town."
"Understood, Baron."
Durant bowed and saluted, "I’ll go find someone now."
"I’m going too!"
Wolfhoof saluted and retreated, and Rein followed, bowing and saluting as they left to find someone.
Seronie pouted and flopped into a chair,
"I don’t have anyone under me, so I’ll just lead the charge."
...
...
Not long after.
Durant walked into the hall with eight soldiers.
"Why so many?" Luo De frowned slightly.
"Baron, these eight have already retired due to injuries and are responsible for some simple work in the camp."
Durant explained, "I initially asked which of them was willing, and somehow, they all volunteered..."
"Sir, let me go."
A tall young soldier spoke first, his face flushed with excitement,
"My child doesn’t need to become a noble, just a knight will do!"
"I’ll go!"
An older soldier shouted loudly, displaying his empty left arm,
"I’m a broken man, I’ve lived long enough."
"If an army avenges me when I die, it’s worth it!"
"I’m willing to die for you."
"No, let me go."
...
More voices arose.
Everyone was competing for this "certain death" mission.
There was no hint of fear in their eyes, only excitement.
Luo De was somewhat moved, not expecting such loyalty from these common soldiers.
Luo De cleared his throat,
"Let’s draw lots."
"Wait, Saint Master, there’s also us!"
Wolfhoof’s voice rang out, and he entered with a dozen or so people.
"To sacrifice for the Saint Master is our honor, Empire people don’t need to participate!"
Wolfhoof’s firm stance made Durant frown.
Indeed, the next moment, the retired soldiers couldn’t hold back, shouting,
"Lord Wolfhoof, your words are wrong, we’re all the lord’s subjects, why can’t we participate?"
"Of course it’s different!"
The Wilderness Tribe member behind Wolfhoof spoke,
"The Saint Master is the prophecy of our ancestors, fate’s arrangement; the Empire’s baron was appointed by the Emperor, surely fate’s greatest arrangement!"
"Yeah, yeah, this honor isn’t for you!"
...
The Wilderness Tribesmen’s argument was logical, and those from the Broken Rock Empire refused to concede.
Interestingly, among the retired soldiers were two from the Wilderness Tribe, who immediately turned and sided with Wolfhoof.
The lord’s hall was instantly as noisy as a market stall.
"Quiet!"
Luo De shouted, "Don’t waste time, draw lots!"
Luo De turned to Vivian and instructed, "Tell the Guards to prepare twenty wooden sticks, with one tied with a string at one end, and bring them for drawing."
