"In the year 216 of the Dali era, the barbarian chief Ganixi advanced eastward, ravaging the towns of Lichuan and Lijing, breaking through the Mountain Gate and departing."

Li Jingtian's tender, white fingers, like young onions, gripped the brush and carefully recorded on the silk, stopping from time to time to count off the dates on her fingers.

"Surrounded by the Shanyue, he pushed westward into the Great Jue Court, facing desperate circumstances, inciting turmoil in the Shanyue Fifteen Villages. The barbarian leader, fearing his power, cursed him to death. He vomited blood which turned into locusts from his mouth, then passed away at the age of thirty-nine. Xuanxuan, the eldest son of the family's elder branch, took charge of the household matters."

Having written this section, Li Jingtian sighed mournfully. Her plain clothes fluttered lightly in the breeze while Li Tongya, sitting beside her, raised his head and saw her continuing to write on the silk:

"In the seventeenth year, during the fourth month of summer, a great drought afflicted the Shanyue Fifteen Villages with locusts coming from the south, obscuring the sky."

"Indeed."

Li Tongya nodded slightly. He had been thinking about compiling the family history in the past years, but with the family affairs keeping everyone busy, and all the descendants of the various major branches preoccupied with urgent matters, now was the perfect time as Li Jingtian was free. Being from the direct lineage of the great clan, the task was given to her.

Li Jingtian lifted her writing brush to dip it in ink, set aside the finished piece of silk, and pulled out a new one, ready to continue writing, when she heard an announcement from outside the courtyard.

"Chen Donghe seeks an audience!"

"Come in."

Li Tongya watched as Chen Donghe strode into the courtyard, also dressed in plain clothes.

Chen Donghe cast a discreet glance at Li Jingtian behind the curtains, then bowed and said:

"I have an important matter to report."

He paused, hesitant to continue. Having returned to the village for several months now, Li Tongya was always busy and hard to meet. Finally seizing the opportunity, Chen Donghe, through gritted teeth, said:

"The Family Head once said... this matter must be reported only to Elder Tongya."

Behind the curtain, Li Jingtian suddenly looked up and gently laid down her brush, bowing out. Li Tongya's expression turned solemn, and he dismissed the others. Chen Donghe then knelt and pulled out a crystal-clear Treasure Bead, saying with a deep voice:

"The Family Head instructed that this bead must be personally delivered into the elder's hands. Donghe dared not be negligent on the way and has not spoken of it to anyone else."

Li Tongya took the Treasure Bead and held it up gently, noting a pure white, thumb-sized diamond-shaped Mirror Shard sparkling within the crystal in the sunlight, quite beautiful to behold.

Just as Li Tongya was about to speak, the Mysterious Pearl Talisman Seed within him suddenly pulsed, causing a great shock in his heart, and for a moment, he said nothing, responding with a collected demeanor:

"I understand. I have noted your merit."

After dismissing Chen Donghe, Li Tongya patted his Storage Bag only to discover the Treasure Bead couldn't fit inside, so he had to hide it in his chest and nodded toward Li Jingtian as she entered the courtyard. He then strode out of the side courtyard.

-------------

Lu Jiangxian's Divine Sense had already been wrapped around the Treasure Bead. Watching as Li Tongya hurriedly made his way to the back courtyard, and feeling the connection with that shard, his heart was incredibly shocked.

"It turns out that the Dharma Mirror was nothing but a greyish-green base, and its so-called mirror surface was merely transparent... The actual mirror surface had long been shattered and nearly all lost!"

And that shard in the Treasure Bead in Li Tongya's hand was one of the lost pieces of the mirror surface!

The Dharma Mirror was only the size of a palm, and the shard was about the size of two fingernails, accounting for one-tenth of the entire mirror surface. Lu Jiangxian coveted it greatly, suppressing the urge to snatch it away, waiting silently in the backyard.

Li Tongya kneeled down slowly, placing the Treasure Bead on the Sacrificial Altar. Lu Jiangxian immediately spurred his Mana, and a fierce white light burst from the Dharma Mirror, with its grey-green Mirror Body floating up. 𝒇𝓻𝓮𝓮𝙬𝙚𝒃𝒏𝓸𝙫𝒆𝙡.𝓬𝓸𝒎

The twelve Talisman characters around the edge of the mirror each glowed, while the dazzling white light undulated across the mirror surface like ripples, a heavy oppressive force filled the courtyard, overwhelming Li Tongya so he could hardly breathe.

Lu Jiangxian took the Treasure Bead, and Great Yin Mysterious Light surged, the translucent shell melting like ice before fire, and turned into a white silk ribbon that was actually a Foundation Establishment level Talisman Qi.

As the Mirror Shard slowly attached itself to the Mirror Body, a strong sense of drowsiness and satisfaction flooded over him. Lu Jiangxian was busy resting to merge the Mirror Shard, bringing that piece of Talisman Qi into Li Tongya's Shengyang Mansion.

Suddenly, large characters floated before Lu Jiangxian's eyes.

At the very top, written in pale golden brush strokes, heavy and solid, each word dripping with thick ink.

"Deep Sea Long Whale."

Below that, written in dark grey brush strokes, each stroke sharp and decisive, as if etched by iron and stone.

"Life-Exhausting Success."

Back in the day, Li Xiangping could choose from three types of Talisman Qi, while Li Tongya only had two choices, which seemed to suggest that the type of Talisman Qi was related to the recipient's innate talent. The level of Talisman Qi only determined the power after the consecration.

Divine Sense diving into the characters, Lu Jiangxian could roughly feel the difference between the two Talisman Qis.

The Deep Sea Long Whale Script would enable the recipient to have enduring Mana, with True Yuan as vast as the sea, allowing the recovery of Mana several times faster than ordinary people with each breath.

The Life-Exhausting Success Script, on the other hand, would let the recipient trade Lifespan for Mana, allowing them to explode with several times their strength in a short period.

Having read about both Talisman Qis, Lu Jiangxian unhesitatingly chose the Deep Sea Long Whale Script.

He actually hoped that Li Tongya could go further, allowing the Mysterious Pearl Talisman Seed within him to grow for a few more decades before reaping it. Moreover, with Li Tongya's disposition, he was not one to trade Lifespan with others in a fight; the Deep Sea Long Whale Script was more practical.

"I've set you up well, now take good care of the family. I'm going to have a long sleep..."

Lu Jiangxian murmured to himself and slowly drifted into slumber. Below him, Li Tongya only felt a white Qi entering his brow, and within Shengyang Mansion appeared a pale-white Talisman Qi inscribed with four glittering golden characters:
