Falling for the Omega Idol-Chapter 98: FIRST MISSION EVALUATION (II)
Chapter 98: FIRST MISSION EVALUATION (II)
ROBIN Leroux moved back until his whole figure could be seen on the screen. His face showed his determination as the music began. He moved through the choreography smoothly, hitting each step with confidence. His singing wasn’t flashy, but it was solid, carrying the melody in a way that worked. His pronunciation, for someone who wasn’t a native speaker, was surprisingly accurate, though he stumbled over a few lyrics here and there. Instead of panicking, he covered the mistakes smoothly, slotting in words that still fit.
There was a sense of ease in how he carried himself. His movements were controlled and precise, showing he had practiced each step carefully. He didn’t try to do too much but knew how to make himself stand out in just the right way. The way he connected with the performance made it feel genuine. By the time the music stopped, he stood there for a moment, catching his breath, a bright smile tugging at his face. It wasn’t perfect, but it was more than enough to leave an impression.
The mentors nodded in approval.
"His dancing is solid," Dyna said, leaning back in her chair with her arms crossed. "He’s clearly practiced a lot—didn’t miss a step. But he could add more energy, you know? It feels a little too safe right now."
"His vocal tone is nice, and he stayed in tune," Yoon Jihoon remarked thoughtfully, resting his chin on his hand. "But it’s not standout material yet." He paused for a moment, then added, "I’ll give him credit for keeping his cool when he forgot the lyrics, though. That’s not easy."
"Yeah, I noticed that too," K-Beat chimed in, nodding. "He forgot the words but covered it well—quick thinking."
"I think we should also give him credit for his Korean fluency," Choi Minhyuk said. "According to his profile, it’s his third language, but he sounded so natural, almost like a native. That’s impressive."
"He’s fully French, right?" Yoon Jihoon asked. "Is he the only foreign contestant who’s not part Asian?"
"I think so, yes," Choi Minhyuk responded.
"Doesn’t that just show how serious he is about becoming a K-Pop idol?" K-Beat said. "Learning Korean that well isn’t something you do without real dedication."
"Well, it’s impressive compared to some contestants who still struggle with basic Korean phrases," Dyna said, her tone laced with a hint of sarcasm. "By the way, isn’t Jung Taeyang mixed as well?"
"Right, I almost forgot because of his name. Is he half?" K-Beat asked, thinking of the other’s gray eyes.
"No, he’s only one-eighth American," Choi Minhyuk chimed in.
"Oh? But how did Choi Minhyuk-ssi know that?" Yoon Jihoon asked, curiosity and amusement in his eyes. "That’s not written on his profile, right?"
Choi Minhyuk adjusted his glasses and said smoothly, without missing a beat, "I asked him directly."
Of course, that wasn’t entirely true. But what else could he say? He couldn’t exactly admit it was because he worked at the company owned by Jung Taeyang’s cousin and had access to more information than the others. Luckily, the other mentors didn’t press further and simply moved on to scoring Robin’s performance.
Following that, they watched a few more contestants, including Song Jiwoo and Park Mirae. Then, after a few more, it was the turn of a contestant named Lee Haru. A half-Korean, half-Japanese contestant who had received the highest score in dance during the practice sessions but struggled with vocals, earning a relatively low score in that category.
Lee Haru’s performance started strong as his dance moves were clean and effortless, showing just how much time he had put into perfecting the choreography. Every motion flowed smoothly, and there wasn’t a single mistake to be seen. But when it came to his vocals, things fell apart. His voice cracked on the high notes, and he struggled to stay in tune, making it clear he was having a hard time singing while dancing. Despite the vocal slips, he kept going, relying on his strong dance skills to carry the performance to the end.
"His dance was as good as expected, but his vocals were all over the place," Yoon Jihoon said with a sigh. "It’s a real shame."
"He did mention he’s a rapper," K-Beat pointed out.
"Do you think he has any chance of improving his vocals?" Dyna asked, turning to Yoon Jihoon.
"With enough practice, anyone can develop decent vocals," Yoon Jihoon replied. "It’s just a matter of how much effort he’s willing to put in." fɾēewebnσveℓ.com
After finishing his evaluation and giving him a score, the mentors moved on to the next contestant: Kang Haneul.
"Oh, it’s this one," Yoon Jihoon said, his eyes lighting up as he read the name. "He’s got such a beautiful voice."
He looked at the monitor but quickly froze. The teenager on the screen had taken off the glasses he usually wore, fully revealing his face. His features were soft but striking, with black hair that framed his face and light brown eyes that almost seemed golden under the room’s lighting. There was a magnetic charm about him, as if he naturally drew attention without even trying.
All the mentors who had never seen him without his glasses were momentarily taken aback. For a few seconds, no one said a word. Choi Minhyuk was the first to recover, quickly clearing his throat. The sound broke the silence, snapping the other mentors out of their daze.
They quickly shifted their attention back to Kang Haneul’s performance.
Kang Haneul’s performance started, and his vocals immediately shone. His voice was clear and full of emotion, hitting each note perfectly and delivering the song with ease. But when it came to the dancing, it was clear he was struggling. He tried to stay on beat, but his body just couldn’t keep up with the rhythm. His movements were stiff and lacked coordination, showing that he wasn’t used to dancing while singing. Despite his effort, the disconnect between his strong singing and his awkward dancing was noticeable.
Still, his undeniable charm managed to elevate the performance, making it memorable in a way that went beyond his technical flaws.
