Falling for the Omega Idol-Chapter 219: DANCE MISSION (VI)
ONCE he was done, Eunwoo sat back down. Lim Suho clapped a little. "That was really well done."
Haneul nodded enthusiastically in agreement. Baek Eunwoo had actually done everything perfectly. From his movements to his facial expression, it was like he had become a member of Phenix. The only criticism Haneul could think of was that because it was so flawless, the dance itself lacked any personal character. It was like Baek Eunwoo had disappeared inside the choreography.
"Yeah, it’s good, but..." Jeon Hyunsik commented, then stopped halfway as if he wasn’t sure whether or not he should finish what he was saying.
Eunwoo smiled at his hesitation. "It’s okay, just say what you think. I can handle the criticism."
"Well, your dance was definitely good. But it’s so perfect that it kind of... lacks something, I don’t know, maybe oomph?" Jeon Hyunsik said, then added an apologetic shrug. "Sorry if that makes little sense."
Haneul raised an eyebrow. No, Jeon Hyunsik had actually made a surprising amount of sense. He thought the other would say something stupid, but he said the same thing Haneul had been thinking. Although it would have been better if he’d said it in a more straightforward way, instead of this obvious attempt to put Baek Eunwoo down a bit.
The smile on Baek Eunwoo’s face didn’t falter. He nodded as if he understood. "I know what you mean. Not having a distinct dance style is actually one of my biggest problems."
The way he admitted that did not make him look lacking. Instead, Baek Eunwoo just seemed more mature and understanding. This guy’s social skills were actually through the roof, Haneul thought.
He looked at Jeon Hyunsik. Surprise flashed across the other’s face, but only for a second. It was as if he had not expected that kind of reaction from Baek Eunwoo. But Jeon Hyunsik managed to put on a guilty-looking smile just as fast. Wow, Haneul thought. Just how many actors were there in this program?
"No, having no distinct style isn’t that big of a problem, especially since your technique is already great," Jeon Hyunsik said quickly, backtracking smoothly. He stood up as he spoke. "I’ll go ahead and dance now."
Jeon Hyunsik angled his body and moved across the space with slow, deliberate steps, shifting his weight from one leg to the other. A confident, knowing smile played on his lips as he moved. His hips rolled in a smooth, constant motion that didn’t stop, even when his upper body was still. He brought a hand up to his neck, letting his fingertips rest there for a moment before tracing a slow line down to his collarbone. His gaze was heavy-lidded, as if he was trying to pull the viewer in.
His other arm hung relaxed at his side, brushing his thigh as he moved. He moved with his own timing, taking his time between each move, letting the tension build before he shifted his weight or changed direction. It made the whole thing feel drawn-out and loaded with intention. At the end, his eyes landed directly on Haneul, and he slowly, deliberately, licked his lips.
Haneul felt goosebumps rise on his arms and back, and he looked away without thinking. Damn. Why did this guy keep licking his lips? Haneul didn’t care what the other did. But could he do it without staring right at him?
Eunwoo, who witnessed the brief exchange, stopped himself from laughing. So, Jeon Hyunsik really was interested in Kang Haneul? But from the uncomfortable look on Kang Haneul’s face, it was clear the feeling wasn’t mutual. Well, it was not really something Eunwoo should get involved in. But he couldn’t just let an Alpha harrass an Omega, so he might as well make sure the two weren’t left alone. Besides, Taeyang seemed to like Kang Haneul as well. Who knew what that guy might do if he found out someone was giving unwanted attention to the Omega he liked?
Eunwoo wiped the expression off his face so no one could tell what he was thinking. He turned to Jeon Hyunsik, who had already sat back down. "You did great. But maybe you should tone down the charged looks a little." Then he added in a joking tone, "We don’t want our part to get cut from the broadcast just because you’re too sexy for television."
"Yeah, yeah, that’s too hot, hyung," Lim Suho agreed with a playful grin.
Haneul looked at Baek Eunwoo with a new sense of respect. This guy had pointed out the flaw in Jeon Hyunsik’s dancing without making it sound like an insult. That was a real skill. Haneul wondered if Baek Eunwoo had taken classes in psychology or something.
As expected, Jeon Hyunsik was not offended at all and just laughed it off. "I’ll try to tone it down."
Then all three of them looked at him almost at the same time. He knew it was now his turn. He remembered the choreography for the chorus, but he was not confident he could do it well. So, as he stood up, he warned them, "I should tell you right now. I might look terrible doing this."
"Just dance comfortably," Baek Eunwoo encouraged him.
Haneul nodded and took a deep breath. Before starting, he took off his glasses. He turned halfway to the right and took a slow step. His movements were a little stiff and awkward, and the timing of his steps and hip rolls was slightly off, making the whole dance feel disconnected. But his face was doing something else entirely. His eyes stayed focused and heavy-lidded, his mouth relaxed, and he wore a steady expression. He wasn’t smiling or trying to look sexy. He just held that quiet, intense look while he danced. Even though his body was clumsy, his eyes held a clear, direct focus that made it seem like he meant every single move, even the messy ones.
A quiet fell over the practice room. All movement and conversation stopped. Every bit of attention in the room was pulled toward him, drawn in by the intensity of his gaze alone.
