Chapter 102: NO WAY THAT GUY WOULDN’T TAKE FIRST PLACE

TAEYANG lowered his head as Haneul’s figure disappeared from view. His gray eyes seemed to darken, swirling with emotions that no one could decipher. Only he truly understood the turmoil within him, and right now, one feeling stood out above all others—annoyance.

If it was two days ago, he would probably be confused on why he would feel this way. But after he admitted his unhealthy fixation over Haneul, he immediately understood the reason why.

He’s jealous.

That’s right—he was jealous of the closeness between Haneul and Robin. Just thinking about how they hugged so naturally after Haneul’s name was called made Taeyang’s jaw clench. And just now, Haneul had glanced back to silently cheer for Robin, not sparing so much as a glance in Taeyang’s direction. That last part particularly stung.

Even though he knew Robin was also an Omega, logic seemed to have no place in his mind right now. His thoughts refused to cooperate, pushing him further into unreasonable frustration. To make matters worse, he even found himself irritated by the sight of Han Seojun chatting happily with Haneul.

And then there was the nagging familiarity about Han Seojun. The more he looked at him, the more certain he became that he’d seen him before. That realization only added to his irritation. If he had met or crossed paths with Han Seojun in that world, it clearly wasn’t memorable enough for him to recall. Yet the idea of any sort of connection between them, no matter how insignificant, only fueled his annoyance further.

These thoughts only reaffirmed Taeyang’s belief that distancing himself from Haneul was the right choice. If spending barely a day together could send his mind spiraling like this, what would happen if they actually grew closer? The idea alone was enough to unsettle him.

He took a deep breath, pushing everything he felt into a box and locking it away. This was fine. With enough time and effort, he could get back to normal—he had to.

But despite that, his stupid heart was still full of reluctance.

The ranking announcement continued.

Robin, who was sitting just a few seats behind Taeyang, didn’t care about what the other was thinking—or anyone else, for that matter. He had been calm up until now, but as rank 21 was announced and his name still hadn’t been called, unease started to settle in. Haneul’s name had already been called earlier, and while Robin was relieved for him, it only made the wait feel heavier. His fingers tapped against his leg, the growing silence in his mind more suffocating than the buzz of whispers around him.

As the announcements moved to the top 20, Robin’s nerves began to spike. Rank 20, not him. Rank 19, still not him. His hands, now balled into fists, rested stiffly on his thighs as the list narrowed further. Each name felt like a countdown, squeezing the air from his lungs. By the time rank 15 was called, a cold sweat formed at the back of his neck. Rank 14, rank 13—his name didn’t come. His chest tightened with every number, and by rank 11, he couldn’t stop his leg from bouncing, the uncertainty making it harder to sit still.

Dyna stepped forward. "We’re down to the final ten spots," she said, her voice steady yet gentle. "We’ll start by announcing ranks 10th to 6th. After that, we’ll move on to the top five." She paused briefly. "Let’s begin."

Robin kept his eyes on the stage, determined not to let his unease show. He sat upright, shoulders stiff. The tension in the room was suffocating, but he refused to look around—he didn’t want to see how nervous the other contestants looked. It would only make him even more nervous. His fingers tapped rhythmically on his thigh. There were only a few names left, and each one not being his felt heavier than the last. As Dyna prepared to announce rank 6, Robin pressed his hands firmly against his knees, forcing himself to appear calm.

Dyna glanced down at her card, then looked back up. "In 6th rank," she announced, pausing briefly, "Robin Leroux."

Haneul glanced around. Surprisingly, the staff didn’t bring them to another room. Instead, they were led to the parking lot. He quickly noticed the three parked white vans there.

The staff member gestured toward one of the waiting vans. "Please, go ahead and board the van. Your luggage has already been loaded, so you don’t need to worry about it," she said in a reassuring tone. "Just relax and enjoy the ride to your next destination."

After hearing the staff’s instructions, the 10 of them had no choice but to follow along and board the van. Despite their confusion, they knew they couldn’t refuse. With cameras still tracking their every move, it was obvious this was another part of the program. Whether they liked it or not, they had to go along with whatever was planned for them.

Inside the van, there were five rows of seats arranged in two columns, making a total of ten two-seaters. Each contestant’s luggage was placed on one of the seats, leaving the adjacent seat empty for them to sit on. It was clear that the seating arrangement had been planned, with each person meant to sit beside their own belongings.

Haneul spotted his luggage and sat down beside it. Once everyone was seated, the van started moving and left the parking lot right away. He raised an eyebrow, finally understanding why they had been told to pack their luggage before the elimination—it was so they could leave immediately without any delays.

Given that there were only three vans in the parking lot when they arrived and no sign of the contestants who had been called earlier, it was clear they had likely gone through the same process and left much earlier.

He looked out the window, wondering if Robin had been called yet. As he thought about it, another familiar face flashed in his mind.

Was he actually... worried? Over Taeyang’s ranking result? frёewebnoѵēl.com

He almost laughed at himself at the thought. As if the Jung Taeyang would be eliminated this early. There was no way that guy wouldn’t take first place.
