Chapter 299: The Final Relay Race Begins. Part-1.

In the elven capital.

"Sister... those cracks in the sky..."

The elven queen patted the worried princess’s head and tried to console her, but her own face betrayed those words of consolation because she herself did not know what to say.

"The world is about to fall into chaos... it was inevitable; I just didn’t expect it to happen so soon... sigh..."

She had no excuses to make; she had expected this situation to happen, but she didn’t expect it to happen in her generation.

She thought that there were still a few hundred years left for this situation to appear, and by that time, she might already be gone from this world.

Who could have thought that Doomsday would come so suddenly without any warning?

The elf queen looked at the people of her nation and noticed that most of them had fallen on their knees and were praying to the world tree to save them.

They didn’t want to acknowledge reality and didn’t even knew that there was one world tree here to save them

It was a tragic sight filled with hopelessness and despair, and she herself could not do anything to stop it.

All powerful people knew that this day would come eventually; that’s why most of them tried to enjoy their life as much as possible before perishing so that they could at least enjoy the time they had left.

The elven queen and the princess’s robes were tainted by the blood rain pouring from the sky, and they could not hide from it.

"The world is weeping; it means that there might be no chance of us surviving... sigh... what sin have we committed to receive this cruel fate, I wonder..."

...

In the city of Bastille, Desert of Raging Thunder.

"Governor, the number of rebels has increased all of a sudden, and they are becoming too much for our people to handle!"

"Governor, a weird dark black liquid is starting to pour from the sky a few hundred kilometers away from the city!"

"That thing is extremely horrible! Hundreds of monsters and demons are pouring out of it!"

The governor stood on the terrace of his mansion as his subordinates brought one bad report after another.

His facial expressions went pale as he looked at the sky starting to shatter like a fragile glass.

He could see miasma pour from the sky in the distance; he could see the people in the city panic and fear.

He gritted his teeth and clenched his fists so hard that his nails dug into his own palms.

"Why, God, why!? Our city had just started to walk towards a brighter future... Why must this happen now of all times!? Why!?"

His knees gave out as he collapsed on the ground in despair.

Jareth liberated their city from the thunderclouds, but in the end, it was all just hopeless.

When the entire world was going to be destroyed, it didn’t matter if their city was saved or not.

Their efforts to walk towards a brighter future were just meaningless, and Jareth had known about this matter since a long time ago.

...

Ivan’s Higher Arcane University.

Thomas and Shin stood on the balcony of the principal’s office as they stared at the sky with a look of shock on their faces.

"I just booked a dinner with my wife for today... the literal doomsday happened to make it stop..."

Shin sighed deeply as he looked at the cracks in the sky and raised his hand to let the blood rain fall on his palm.

Thomas took a deep sigh of regret while looking at this scene of horror.

"I recently got interested in a nice woman... I was going to propose to her, you know... but the world literally decided to end itself to make it impossible..."

"My luck has always been horrible..." 𝗳𝚛𝚎𝚎𝘄𝕖𝕓𝕟𝕠𝚟𝚎𝕝.𝗰𝕠𝐦

Thomas saw many teachers break down and start crying in the university while looking at this hopeless scene.

All of them were powerful wizards, and they all could feel that the mana density in the air was getting thinner with each passing second while miasma was increasing.

This was a clear sign that something bad was going to happen.

This small world is a bubble protected by the world barrier, and it’s filled with mana. Once the barrier started cracking, the mana inside it started leaking, and miasma started filling it.

Not only the teachers, but even many students broke down and fell on their knees while looking at the sky.

If the enemy were some monster or demon, they could still fight it and try to struggle, but the situation right now is completely different.

This situation is the real ’world-ending’ event that makes people feel helpless and weak. It doesn’t even give a chance to react; it appears almost unnoticeably and is unstoppable in every way.

...

Somewhere in a small house in the capital city.

"Sister this is..."

Azul looked at the street filled with people who were either crying or raging everywhere, and a look of anxiousness appeared on his face.

"This seems like the coming of a doomsday or something..."

His sister, standing beside him in front of the window, was equally confused by the situation.

She had been freed two months ago on Jareth’s orders, and she was now spending time with her younger brother.

It was done by Jareth, as he didn’t want Azul’s sister to spend her final days in a cold prison cell; he asked her to be freed so that she could spend some time with Azul in these last few days.

...

Academy Student Dorms.

Mark walked out of his room and walked towards the street in front of his dormitory along with many other students.

Risa quickly spotted Mark among the students standing on the street and appeared beside him; together, they looked at the sky in shock and panic along with the others.

"AHH!! How can this happen all of a sudden!? I was just about to graduate soon!!"

"Noo!!! Nooo!!! I was too busy studying! I wanted to enjoy life after becoming a strong mage!!! Why is this happening now of all times!?"

"It can’t be!! It can’t be!! I refuse to believe this!!!"

"AHHH!!! I still haven’t made my parents proud! I still haven’t paid them back for all they have done for me... No, please, God!! Please!! I don’t want to die yet!!"

Many of the students could not handle the sudden arrival of doomsday; many could not even process it, many were filled with regret, and many had unfulfilled ambitions left.

Mages are the type of people who never believe in gods or religions, yet they all prayed to the heavens in hope.

No one wanted this horrible situation to happen, and no one expected it to happen.

When the world falls into chaos, it always happens instantly, and most people don’t even get the time to react to it; that’s how life is in general.

[Ding! You received a message from Professor Jareth!]

While other students were despairing, Mark and Risa received a message from Jareth, and they immediately opened it.

[Don’t panic and meet me near the university’s back door...]

The two looked at each other and noticed that they were both equally confused, but they had no other choice, so they left almost immediately.
