Extra's Strategy: Cultivate Protagonists, Become Invincible-Chapter 162: The Deal
Chapter 162: The Deal
Imprisoned within the white sphere, Han Xuhan spoke without fear, echoes of his voice spiraling through the endless tube that led into the depths of this Artificial Macrocosm.
One by one, he picked apart the flaws in Qian Yun’s scheme.
"Since the moment I have appeared here, you’ve done everything in your power to make me feel less and less safe. From boasting about your position in this spiritual world, to telling me repeatedly that I was at your mercy, to indirectly hinting that my martial siblings have backstabbed me, and then claiming that my Sect Master has chosen not to help me...
"You’ve tried to hammer so many nails into the coffin of my hopes, thinking that I would give in to the fear and submit to your offer. But all of these would have been totally unnecessary if you really were that powerful as you describe yourself to be; or if my situation was as horrible as you’re insinuating.
"We’ve seen perfectly well how you conduct business back inside the Holy Land, when we were at your mercy. Being so reasonable was not a part of your character at that time. So let’s just ignore all of those little mischief on your part, fellow cultivator. I’m a magnanimous man. I’ll just treat it as a childish prank.
"Now why don’t you tell me again about this deal you’re trying to offer me? And do change the conditions of the deal slightly if you want me to accept it. Equal parties, equal benefits, that’s how I roll!"
For quite a while, no voice came from the other end of the tunnel. Han Xuhan patiently waited. He wasn’t actually sure if the other party had more insidious cards to play, but this was the best outcome he could bring out right now.
If Qian Yun decided to be as obstinate as he had been in the Holy Land after his puppetization, things would not bode well for Han Xuhan. This guy might just leave him here, imprisoned till he went crazy. After all, Han Xuhan hadn’t found a way out of this Artificial Macrocosm yet.
Relief flooded him when he heard the voice once more.
"Fine, brother Xuhan. You got me. I was really hoping to scare you into signing for a less than equally beneficial relationship. But that was because I feared that you wouldn’t be cooperative either way. Nevertheless, my apologies. I’m offering you a new one.
"The deal is very simple. You will supply me with cultivation resources, I’ll trade for those materials with guidance on cultivating law arts, a vast array of valuable information recorded in the libraries of the Holy Land of Laws, and anything else that you can think of along those lines. The exchange principles will be just like the deal we made back inside the Holy Land, remember?"
Han Xuhan snorted in disbelief.
"Do you lack cultivation resources? How am I even supposed to provide a soul reformation realm cultivator with resources? I mean, I’m rich right now, but not that rich!"
"I told you, I’m Qian Yun, not Zhao Weiqing. You only need to provide me with resources for a dozen cultivators practicing advanced layers of Mystic Arts, alongside some resources for Martial Path cultivation.
"How you get it for me is none of my business. All I care about is efficiency and speed. In turn, you get all of those perks I just spoke of. Do we have a deal?"
Staring suspiciously at the tunnel ahead, Han Xuhan contemplated his choices for a long time before answering. ƒгeewёbnovel.com
"Can’t see why I should refuse. We do have a deal, Brother Qian Yun."
"Then I will send you a contract soon. We’ll meet here again, and the next time, I’ll teach you a technique that allows us to transfer material objects from your world to mine and vice versa.
"Also, don’t bother trying to destroy the seal now. Your existence has already been incorporated into this world."
As soon as the voice finished speaking, Han Xuhan’s vision went dark.
When he opened his eyes again, he found himself staring at the familiar wooden ceiling of his hut. The dark surroundings, weakly illuminated by the vague moonlight coming through the window assured him that it was still nighttime. The fog outside was still thick as ink.
Checking himself all over a couple of times, he found no physical evidence of the fact that he had just traveled to a faraway realm of disembodied beings as one of its newly recruited inhabitants.
Whatever mechanism Qian Yun might have used to drag his consciousness into that artificial macrocosm, it must have been ingrained in his spiritual world. Without cleansing the letters of law inside his foundation tower, he wouldn’t be able to tell whether this seal had a clear existence there.
So he didn’t harbor any hopes of escaping this deal by avoiding signing the contract paper sent by Qian Yun.
"The way everything is developing almost makes me feel like a real protagonist myself. Getting dragged into conflicts that have nothing to do with me, meeting eccentric grandpas on my very first outing, escaping super experts by the nick of a hair, constantly finding myself inside secret realms full of mysteries...
"I even have a bit of a feud with the heavens over my cursed physique! But why do I only experience the downsides of being a protagonist?
"Where are the cheats? Where are the super secret overpowered techniques? Where are the icy beauties with terrible standards? What other torture do I have to go through in the future?"
Recalling all those generic novels on earth, Han Xuhan shivered in terror. The regular bloodbaths, the genocides, the masochistic cultivation techniques, the constant appearances of enemies with higher level cultivation base...
It all boiled down to nothing but a terrible life full of misery and pain. Why would anyone voluntarily go through that hell when there were more peaceful options? Han Xuhan certainly did not want to.
In retrospect, most of those protagonists had something to fight for, something along the lines of Jade Beauty number 69 getting caught by his enemies, or his parents’ lives being under threats etcetera. But to Han Xuhan, weaknesses like these did not exist.
"That’s right. All I have is my life on the line. Since reincarnation is real, what do I have to fear? Let’s see where this development leads me to! I can always just flip the table and quit!"
With this highly dangerous thought setting down in his mind, Han Xuhan went back to sleep.
