Extra: Yandere Milfs Obsessed with me!-Chapter 173: Traitor
In the novel, Isabella died here, and Kris awakened his Pendragon lineage in the fury of grief. If it wasn’t Godwin directly, then had Ariana delegated Zane to ensure the outcome?
’She never really trusted me,’ he realized,
’She made sure to have a guarantee, a plan B to eliminate Isabella, no matter what I decided.’
He then stepped in, placing himself slightly in front of Isabella, even though the situation was hopeless. "Don’t worry, Miss Isabella, I’m here."
Zane turned his cold gaze toward Kaiser, a thin smile on his lips. "Don’t worry, Kaiser. We took you into account in the equation."
"Hm?" Kaiser said, wary.
Without further warning, Zane pulled from his pocket a small metallic cube with smooth surfaces, engraved with complex elven runes. He threw it toward Kaiser. Unsure of the object’s nature, Kaiser attempted a lateral dodge.
*BOOM*
The cube activated in mid-air, its faces spreading apart in a flash of bluish light to form a cubic force field that expanded at an impossible speed. Before Kaiser could react, the field completely engulfed him, then retracted just as quickly, returning to its compact cube form, now heavy and vibrating slightly.
"The technology of the black elves from the tower of fire is truly interesting," Zane commented with the same coldness, catching the cube as it flew back. "Portable prisons for disruptive elements."
"KAISER!" Isabella screamed, but Zane gave the cube one last glance, then, with a casual gesture, threw it over the edge, into the glowing red river of lava flowing at the bottom of the ravine. The cube disappeared into the incandescent material with a muffled hiss.
Zane turned back toward Isabella and Kris, now alone and surrounded by fifty pairs of hostile eyes.
"You’ll have plenty of time to mourn your friend, but you should worry about yourself."
Isabella clenched her teeth: "Why are you doing all this?"
"It so happens that there is a person who wants the Imperial and Pendragon families to tear each other apart... And I am just a pawn helping them achieve their desires."
...
Kris slipped on a basalt slab, barely caught himself and parried a strike coming from the right. The impact pushed him back two steps. Zane’s short blade passed a few centimeters from his throat, tracing a burning line in the air.
Kris immediately pivoted, aiming to disarm rather than strike fatally. He used the shaft of his lance to block, then pushed the opponent back with a shoulder charge.
Zane retreated, but in the same motion, he threw a knife. The weapon spun on itself, charged with aura, and exploded on contact with the ground.
"Watch out, Kris!"
The shockwave hurled Kris backward. He rolled on the hot rock, felt his skin burn through his clothes, and got back up by forcing his legs.
Meanwhile, Isabella struck the ground with her lance to stabilize the area. She immediately raised her weapon to block a second knife. The explosion deformed her earth barrier and forced her to step back.
The students were using magic, making them vulnerable to their attacks.
"Kris, you should leave, they’re not after you."
"Just shut your mouth, you traitor. You think I’m going to stay and let you attack my sister?" Kris shouted while fighting three students simultaneously.
Zane gave no respite. He slipped into the opening, slid between two rock pillars, and attacked at close range. His blade targeted joints, fast and precise.
"Who’s sending you exactly? You just betrayed us like that? Is it the Draken faction?"
Isabella parried, retreated, parried again, trying to deflect the blows rather than fully counter. Each block made her arms vibrate, the difference in rhythm working against her.
"It doesn’t matter, Miss Isabella."
Kris intervened at an angle. He sent a gust of wind to destabilize Zane without hurting him, then struck with the shaft to push him back. Zane let himself be carried by the blast, spun in the air, and threw two knives in return. Kris pulled Isabella back at the last moment.
The blades embedded in the rock and exploded almost simultaneously. The detonation caused part of the ground to give way, opening a fissure from which a jet of lava spurted.
"Back off! Don’t come any closer!"
His voice barely covered the roar of the explosions. Zane’s short blade clashed against the lance shaft in a sharp impact. Zane smiled briefly before stepping back and throwing an aura-charged knife.
"Shit!"
The explosion tore off a chunk of basalt. Kris was thrown to the side, rolled on the burning rock, and straightened up clenching his teeth. A volley of arrows arrived immediately from the front.
<Earth Shield> Isabella shouted.
She struck the ground with her lance. A denser stone platform formed under the students grouped behind her. The arrows crashed into it, some exploding on impact. The barrier dangerously disintegrated.
"They won’t stop... do you think we should run away," she murmured while adjusting the structure.
Several students charged into close combat.
"You might be right, Isa. Do you think the princess is safe? We should maybe find her first."
Isabella parried a sword strike, deflected a lance, and struck with the shaft of hers, throwing an opponent to the ground without finishing him.
"We should also look for Kaiser. I refuse to believe he’s dead, just like that."
"I don’t want to kill anyone! Back off!"
Her voice trembled with effort. An arrow passed a few centimeters from her face and exploded behind her.
Kris returned to the line.
"Isabella, stay behind me! And if you want my opinion, we’re too deep in shit to think about that bastard."
He concentrated his mana and released Reduced-Power Flaming Lion. The blast pushed back the front attackers, throwing them to the ground without burning them severely. He immediately followed up, striking arms and legs to neutralize.
Zane took advantage of the chaos. He slipped between two fighters and attacked from the blind spot. Kris barely parried.
"Isabella is going to die today, whether you want it or not."
"Watch out!"
Two knives flew almost simultaneously. Isabella pulled Kris back.
The explosions opened a fissure. A flow of lava began to spread slowly.
"The ground won’t hold much longer," Kris said as he got up.
At the back, magic circles lit up.
"Mages in position!" a voice shouted.
Salvos of fire and wind rained down on them. Isabella tried to erect a wider wall.
"Kris, I’m running out of margin!"
"Hold on a little longer!"
