Extra Demon: Sacred Academy of Light-Chapter 177: False tranquility
Chapter 177: Chapter 177: False tranquility
"We were never able to recover, and we will never see the skies of those times again. We will never be what we once were. In the end, the only thing that comes out of a war among ourselves is destruction." Emilia let out a sigh to herself.
Arthur remained silent, trying to process all the valuable information they had just revealed. It had to be said: he knew nothing about this. The only thing he knew, obviously, was about the war among themselves, but the large number of traitors who were banished to the abyss... The air was cold. So far, they had only encountered seven of them, and that assuming they were barely in the second layer...
He glanced briefly at Daniela. She was silent and didn’t say a single word, but her eyes never stopped shining as she clenched her small fists with blushing cheeks... clearly, she was excited.
On the other hand...
"You mentioned that Lucifer, in fact, is in the last layer... In what state exactly?" I asked intrigued.
"No one knows, but most likely he is in a state of consciousness. What is known is that his body is in this place. Also, I don’t think anyone would dare to enter." Seraphine shook her head. "It would be too dangerous, and it might cause his consciousness to awaken a little more and try to take your body."
"Wasn’t he in a state of eternal sleep?" I asked.
"That’s what was believed, but thanks to Lilith, that option was completely ruled out." Elizabeth shook her head with a gentle smile. "In retrospect, if one is not in true eternal sleep, the other isn’t either."
The sixth seraph opened her mouth slightly.
"Ezekiel is in the fifth layer of the abyss."
Her eyes gleamed as she looked at the floor.
"Did he move again?" asked Seraphine with a frown.
"Yes, but until he reaches the sixth layer, billions more years will pass." She nodded.
Seraphine pursed her lips and thought for a moment.
"It’s a real shame not being able to kill him."
Arthur sank into his thoughts. From what was said, there are 40% fallen.
"Are they all in the seventh layer?"
"For the most part, yes, but among them there is a small group wandering, and another large portion in deep sleep, escaping their own reality," said Seraphine with a smile.
"Is it really safe?" Arthur asked with caution and fear.
"It is, if you’re sufficiently prepared. But you can always refuse." She smiled slightly.
"Forget it," Arthur frowned, waving his hand.
"But if most of them are in the seventh layer... among them, some forgotten cherubim."
---
Arthur felt cold all over his body. No one knew how long they had been walking, but truly in this place, time is broken. It felt like an eternity, yet at the same time like a moment. Anyone could go insane... luckily, there was a golden halo surrounding them, a protection method placed by Seraphine.
They were now in the fifth layer. There were clear differences, but the most notable could be perceived at a glance: a terribly dense fog. Also, the temperature had dropped a lot. Even in soul state, no one escapes the cold. Other than that, nothing in particular. Due to this fog, visibility was very poor: they could only see three meters ahead.
They had already been inside this strange fog for a while which, according to the words of the sixth seraph, surrounded the whole layer... I frowned.
I felt a strange sensation around me. My soul shuddered slightly.
"About the deal you made with Brynthia... it’s better to complete it once you’ve finished waking up. It will be much easier for you."
Seraphine’s calm voice echoed from somewhere, but when I turned around, I saw nothing. The chill only increased with each passing second.
"Just remember, don’t lose yourself."
With those last words, barely reaching my ears, I felt everything turn black.
---
Walking between uncertainty and fear...
My eyes landed on a soft beam of light, approaching it unconsciously...
"A campfire?"
Widening my eyes, I looked around. There was nothing out of the ordinary, except that I was completely alone. The fog in the area was still a nuisance, but besides that, everything seemed normal... until I found this small campfire.
Not knowing what to do, I decided to stay around it a bit longer. Maybe out of simple comfort... I can see much better now, and being alone feels way too desolate...
Sitting down, I felt the warmth of the fire reach my body — which seems strange to me, since only my soul is present. Scratching my head:
"It’s lucky I don’t have to feel hunger or thirst," I murmured to myself.
I felt a kind of peace in this place, gently closing my eyes...
"Don’t lose yourself."
Remembering Seraphine’s words...
"I still don’t understand what she meant, and likewise, what kind of illusion is this?"
The only thing I can see is a campfire that makes my mind relax...
Feeling uneasy for some reason, I opened my eyes wide. I stood up, walking around as far as the firelight reached. I sharpened my senses and my eyes, trying to see or feel something out of the ordinary, but everything seemed pointless. Now, the idea of walking and diving into the unknown didn’t encourage me much either...
Looking again at the small campfire... I decided that, for now, it would be better to stay in this place. I’ll think of something better. The warmth of the fire is very pleasant...
Getting closer, I sat down again, staring at the embers... I closed my eyes once more. My soul relaxed, and I closed them more calmly...
"It’s so peaceful..."
I murmured with satisfaction.
It had been a long time since I felt this peace within myself. The fire’s warmth was comforting...
---
Feeling someone shake my body, I frowned... slowly opened my eyes...
"Brother..."
Hearing a strangely familiar voice, my body and mind went blank. I opened my eyes wide, sharply turned my head. My heart was racing as I looked at the beautiful young girl standing next to me, pouting...
"It can’t be..."
