Chapter 1446: Chapter 1444: Night Talk

The green-robed man lifted a leg, tentatively kicking toward Richard’s body. Before he could make contact, he suddenly narrowed his eyes, watching Richard’s body twist and dissipate like a mist.

Then a hand was placed on his shoulder from behind.

The green-robed man felt a chill all over, but reacted quickly and spun around, releasing an energy missile behind him.

The energy missile had just left his hand when Richard appeared and extinguished it in one grab, then lightly pressed a finger on the green-robed man’s brow.

The green-robed man’s body instantly froze, petrified and immobile.

The gray-robed man at the door witnessed this scene, his face turned pale, and he had no courage to face Richard. He abruptly leaped, flipped out of the courtyard, and fled in panic.

Richard blinked, attempting to pursue, but sensed something and stopped, looking toward the entrance.

"Bang!"

There was a sound, and the gray-robed man who had just escaped was suddenly thrown back into the courtyard, falling heavily on the ground and spitting out a mouthful of blood.

The gray-robed man struggled to stand, looking at Richard with a meaningful gaze as if assessing which was riskier — staying or rushing out. Then he gritted his teeth forcefully, leaping up again and flipping out of the courtyard.

Only two seconds passed before another "bang" sounded, and the gray-robed man was thrown back in for the second time, nearly lifeless, falling head-first to the ground, clearly not going to survive.

Then, with a creak, the courtyard door opened, and a solemn man with thick brows and large eyes walked in. It was Zong Hu, the Level 4 Wizard Guard who used to be by the black-faced elder Oscar’s side.

Following closely behind Zong Hu was another man, also thick-browed and large-eyed, with a slightly frivolous expression — Long Shu, Zong Hu’s brother and also a Level 4 Wizard.

Once inside, Zong Hu and Long Shu looked at Richard, and Richard looked back at Zong Hu and Long Shu. They exchanged glances in silence, a mutual understanding between them.

It wasn’t until the nearly lifeless gray-robed man forcibly climbed up trying to escape that Zong Hu broke the silence by kicking him to death.

"Is this man yours?" Richard pointed at the green-robed man he had "immobilized" and asked, "If he’s not yours, why does he know the contact point and signal gestures?"

"I’m a bit ashamed, but I must tell you, these two are our people, but they betrayed us just recently. That’s why today happened. Luckily, you, Richard, the Great Lord, are strong enough not to fear such tricks, and we arrived in time, preventing any misunderstandings," Long Shu sighed lightly. "At least in this aspect, the situation is controllable."

"So according to your words, things are out of control in other areas? What’s happening with the Spider Web now?" Richard asked.

"A bit grim," Long Shu couldn’t help but shake his head.

"Not a bit grim, very grim," Zong Hu corrected. 𝘧𝓇𝑒𝑒𝑤ℯ𝑏𝓃𝘰𝑣ℯ𝘭.𝘤ℴ𝘮

"Hey, dear brother, is it so hard to make ourselves look good in front of others?" Long Shu couldn’t help but glare at Zong Hu, then spread his hands to Richard, "Well, the situation is indeed very grim — at least half of the Spider Web’s branches are out of control, worse than three years ago."

"After paying such a significant price, did you get any information?"

"Of course, but the information we got doesn’t differ from what you initially speculated," Long Shu sighed. "Over three years ago, when the Spider Web tried to cooperate with you, Shalin, you warned us that Shaya might have been completely infiltrated by the Truth Society.

I and Zong Hu didn’t quite believe it, we’ve been trying to uncover the truth to dispute your viewpoint. But the ultimate result suggested that the truth might be even scarier — not only was Shaya completely infiltrated but entirely controlled.

Inside and outside Shaya, throughout the Alliance, the Truth Society’s shadow is omnipresent; we just can’t fathom how they developed so secretly. Even inside the court, we suspect the Truth Society holds substantial influence, possibly altering the Alliance Emperor’s orders."

"Why don’t you boldly guess, maybe the Alliance Emperor has already been controlled? That would well explain the current situation, wouldn’t it?" Richard said.

"This..." Zong Hu frowned.

Long Shu couldn’t help but smile bitterly: "Ah, we have to hold onto a shred of hope, right? Otherwise, what reason do we have to stay in Shaya?"

"Do you still intend to stay?"

"Otherwise?"

"You could go to Shalin."

"Then what about Shaya?" Long Shu’s eyes flickered, asking, "Are you planning to handle it yourself? Let me remind you, when dealing with it, be mindful; leaving even one member of the Truth Society would result in endless trouble."

"In fact, I never planned to handle it."

"Ah?"

"Long ago, I guessed Shaya’s situation, but if Shaya wants to remain peaceful with Shalin, I would rather not get involved. This time, meeting with the Alliance Emperor, if the discussion is acceptable, I will accept it and then return to Shalin with you all."

"What if the discussion with you is unacceptable?" Zong Hu suddenly interjected, frowning.

Richard arched his brow and chuckled, "If it’s unacceptable, naturally there will be ways to deal with it—you don’t need to worry about that. You better think about your path. If you truly wish to come to Shalin, I hope you bring along the Spider Web personnel you can still control; they’ll be helpful to Shalin."

Long Shu and Zong Hu pondered, silent for a moment.

Richard glanced at them and said, "Alright, you can keep thinking. I’ll leave this man to you."

While speaking, he nudged the "immobilized" green-robed man toward Zong Hu and Long Shu, "I have other things to attend to now, so I won’t stay with you any longer."

After speaking, Richard strode out of the courtyard, disappearing to an unknown location.

After Richard left, Long Shu and Zong Hu exchanged glances; Zong Hu asked, "What do you think?"

"Of course, you look with your eyes."

Zong Hu furrowed his brow deeply.

"Alright, alright, my mistake." Long Shu raised his hands, displaying a serious demeanor, "In my view, given the current situation, staying in Shaya achieves nothing. Going to Shalin might be better. But truth be told, I’d rather stay and see the outcome of Richard the Great Lord’s discussion with the Alliance Emperor before deciding. Perhaps, if—just if—they fail to reach an agreement, there might still be an opportunity for us to play a role."

Zong Hu nodded gently, agreeing, then glanced at the green-robed man, asking, "How should we handle this guy?"

"Do you need to ask me?" Long Shu retorted.

"True." Zong Hu said, and with a flick of his hand, several wind blades flew out, directly beheading the green-robed man, then walked out of the courtyard with Long Shu.
