Chapter 80: Chapter

Li Manman kept a gentle smile on her face as she led the two children away from where they had been sitting.

"Come with me," she said softly. "The water on this side is much cleaner. Your mother will meet you there."

Fu Qin held his sister’s hand as they followed her without suspicion.

"Okay..." he said.

Fu Lin stayed close to him, quiet and obedient.

They walked farther down the riverbank, away from the crowd. The noise behind them slowly faded, and the place became quieter.

After a short distance, Li Manman stopped and pointed toward the edge of the river.

"You can fetch water here," she said calmly.

The water in that area looked clear, but it was deeper, and the current moved faster than it seemed.

The children did not notice.

They knelt down carefully, trying to scoop water into their container.

Behind them, Li Manman stood still.

The smile on her face slowly disappeared.

Her eyes turned cold.

For a brief moment, she watched them in silence.

Then suddenly—

She stepped forward and pushed them with force.

A sharp cry escaped their lips.

"Ahh—!"

Fu Qin lost his balance first, and as he fell, he dragged Fu Lin along with him.

Their small bodies slipped straight into the river.

The water splashed loudly as they fell in.

"Mother!!"

"Help—!"

Fu Qin struggled immediately, trying to keep his head above water as the current began to pull him away.

Fu Lin cried in fear, her small hands flailing helplessly as the river carried her along.

"Help! Help!!"

Not far from there, Bai Ming was speaking quietly with Han Fuji.

At that moment, Li Manman came running back toward the crowd, her face filled with panic.

"Help! Someone help!" she shouted loudly.

Her voice cut through the air.

"Two children fell into the river!"

The people nearby immediately turned toward her. 𝗳𝚛𝚎𝚎𝘄𝕖𝕓𝕟𝕠𝚟𝚎𝕝.𝗰𝕠𝐦

"What happened?!"

"Whose children?!"

The calm atmosphere instantly broke.

Bai Ming felt her heart tighten suddenly.

A strange fear rose inside her.

"...My children?"

Without waiting for an answer, she turned and ran toward the river.

Han Fuji followed closely behind her.

When they reached the riverbank, Bai Ming’s eyes searched frantically.

"Fu Qin? Fu Lin?!"

They were not there.

Her breath caught in her throat.

Then, from the river—

"Mother!!!"

A desperate cry reached her ears.

Bai Ming turned sharply toward the sound.

In the rushing water, she saw them.

Her children.

Fu Qin and Fu Lin.

Their small bodies were being carried away by the current.

"Help!! Mother!!"

Fu Lin’s voice trembled with fear.

Fu Qin struggled desperately, trying to stay above the water.

Bai Ming’s face turned completely pale.

Her heart felt like it stopped.

"NO—!!"

Without thinking any further, she rushed straight toward the river.

Han Fuji reacted the moment Bai Ming rushed toward the river.

He stepped forward quickly and grabbed her arm, pulling her back with force.

"Stop!" he said firmly.

But Bai Ming had already lost control.

She struggled against him, her whole body shaking as she tried to break free.

"Let me go!" she cried out. "My children—!"

She pushed against his grip, trying to rush forward again, but Han Fuji did not let her go.

His brows tightened.

"Can you swim?" he asked urgently.

But his words did not reach her.

At that moment, Bai Ming could not think.

She could not hear.

All she saw was the river.

All she heard were the desperate cries of her children.

"Let me go!" she shouted again, her voice breaking. "I have to save them!"

Han Fuji’s expression turned serious.

He tightened his hold on her shoulders and shook her slightly.

"Listen to me!"

But her eyes were filled with panic. She was not listening.

Seeing this, Han Fuji’s gaze darkened.

He made his decision.

"Stay here," he said firmly.

"I will bring them back."

Before she could react—

He released her and rushed forward.

Without hesitation, he jumped into the river.

The water splashed high as his body disappeared into it.

The current was strong, but he pushed forward, swimming quickly toward the children.

Not far away, Fu Fei had seen everything.

Her face immediately turned pale.

"Sister-in-law!" she called out as she turned and ran.

"Something has happened!"

Su Long and Fu Sheng both turned at once.

"What is it?" Fu Sheng asked.

Fu Fei was slightly out of breath.

"Bai Ming’s children fell into the river!" she said quickly. "That man... Han Fuji... already jumped in to save them!"

Su Long’s expression changed.

Fu Sheng did not hesitate.

He stood up immediately and moved toward the river without another word.

On the other side, Fu Fong and his family had also heard the commotion.

Aunt Fu frowned.

"What is going on now?"

They all stood up and walked toward the river.

But the moment Fu Fong saw what was happening—

His expression changed completely.

In the rushing water, his two children were being carried away.

"Qin’er! Lin’er!"

His voice rose sharply.

Without thinking, he stepped forward, ready to jump into the river.

But suddenly,

A hand grabbed his arm tightly.

Li Manman.

"Do not go," she said softly.

Fu Fong froze.

He turned to look at her.

"What are you doing?" he snapped.

Li Manman’s grip tightened slightly.

"They are no longer your responsibility," she said calmly. "Why should you risk your life for them?"

Fu Fong hesitated.

At that moment Bai Ming rushed toward him.

Her face was pale, her eyes red with panic.

"Fu Fong!" she cried.

She grabbed his sleeve tightly.

"Please! Save them! They are your children!"

Her voice trembled as tears fell from her eyes.

"Please—!"

But before he could respond—

Li Manman stepped forward and pushed Bai Ming aside.

"They are not his responsibility anymore," she said coldly. "You should take care of your own children."

Bai Ming stumbled and nearly fell, but she quickly caught herself.

She did not care.

She turned back again.

"Please... I am begging you..." she cried. "Just save them..."

But Fu Fong stood still.

His fists tightened, but he did not move.

In the river—

Han Fuji had already reached closer.

The current pushed strongly against him, but he continued forward.

He stretched out his hand and managed to catch one of the children.

Fu Lin.

She clung to him immediately, crying in fear.

"Hold on," he said firmly.

But when he looked up Fu Qin was already farther away.

The current was dragging him quickly downstream.

Han Fuji’s face tightened.

He could not reach both of them at the same time.

On the riverbank..

Su Long and Fu Sheng arrived tithes with the Fu siblings while madame Fu stayed with Master Fu.

The moment Fu Sheng saw the situation, his expression turned cold.

His eyes moved to Fu Fong, who was still standing there.

Not moving.

"Coward," Fu Sheng said coldly.

Then, without another word—

He stepped forward and jumped into the river.

The water splashed loudly as he entered.

Su Long stopped at the edge, her heart tightening as she watched.

"Be careful!" she called out.

Fu Sheng was already swimming.

His movements were strong and fast as he pushed through the current toward Fu Qin.

Behind them, Fu Fei and Fu Li rushed to Bai Ming.

"Sister Bai Ming!" Fu Fei called as she helped her up.

Fu Li quickly supported her from the other side.

"Come, stand properly!"

The three of them moved closer to the riverbank, their eyes fixed on the water.

In the river,

Han Fuji held Fu Lin tightly, keeping her head above the water.

"Do not let go," he said.

Meanwhile, Fu Sheng reached Fu Qin just in time.

The boy was already losing strength.

Fu Sheng grabbed him firmly and pulled him up.

"Hold on to me," he said.

Fu Qin coughed weakly and clung to him.

The current was strong.

The water pushed against them again and again.

But both men held their ground.

Slowly,

They began to move back toward the shore.

On land, everyone watched in silence as the tension in the air was heavy.

Even Fu Fong’s face had turned stiff.

No one spoke.

The only sound was the rushing water.

Step by step..

Han Fuji and Fu Sheng got closer.

Closer...Until finally they reached the edge of the river.

Hands quickly reached out to pull them up.

Fu Fei and Fu Li helped Bai Ming forward.

The moment her children were on land—

Bai Ming rushed to them immediately.

"Qin’er! Lin’er!"

She pulled both of them tightly into her arms.

Their bodies were wet and trembling.

They coughed, struggling to breathe.

But they were alive.

Bai Ming broke down completely.

Tears streamed down her face as she held them close.

"Thank you... thank you..." she whispered again and again.

Not far away, Su Long let out a quiet breath.

The tight feeling in her chest slowly eased.

They were saved.

Just in time but immediately a cold expression formed on her face as she faced everyone, "Who amongst you pushed these two children?"
