Neil opened the footage after moving away from the others, he was not happy with the recent deaths either.

They had been staying away during the night all this time, and things had been calm.

But the very night they all slept, they went awry.

Honestly, Neil had barely caught any sleep during this whole time, he even slept sometimes during his training.

’Was the creature or the murderer waiting? Thankfully we installed the cameras.’ Neil thought, and since the cameras weren’t broken, they should have captured the killer.

Most cameras were hidden properly, not even Neil himself knew their location.

"Nemo, check and open the time when they were killed." He ordered.

"Alright master, it seems those four were staying together because of the recent orders." Nemo said as she fast forwarded.

And suddenly paused, Neil heard a faint growling noise.

His eyes narrowed as a person walked into the domain, while the four men were sleeping.

All of it happened so fast that those men didn’t even had the time to scream.

Within a few moments, the man tore their bodies apart by bare hands, his claws were drenched in blood.

The four of the victims were ripped apart so brutally, blood spluttered all around, internal organs making a mess.

Neil held his breath, as he focussed on the image, his fists were clenched in rage.

If this guy somehow entered his domain, he could cause too much damage, Neil watched as he swear to catch him.

After the four were killed, their flesh and organs splattered all across the room, the killer stood straight.

Then he turned and looked straight at the camera, his head tilted and a cruel inhumane smile on his face.

But the moment Neil saw the face, he felt his head spin, eyes widening in disbelief.

"This- How can it be... This is i- impossible, huh? What...?" Neil almost stumbled back, mind going empty and his body shaking.

Looking back at him from the screen with that menacing gaze was none other than Neil himself.

HUFF HUFF

His breathing quickened, but no matter how many times he looked, his face remained plastered on the screen.

This was just impossible, it has to be an illusion or some trick!

"M- Master, that is... how can it be you?" Nemo was equally baffled.

Neil pushed his long hand back, trying to remain calm despite his quickly beating heart, he ordered:

"Check again, check every camera. See if... if I entered the settlement last night." Neil couldn’t understand what was happening.

Was he the murderer of all those people? Did he really turn into a monster controlled by his true nature?

A mindless phantom?

"Y- Yes master!" Nemo quickly began to check every camera.

"Shouldn’t you also be a- aware if I were to move?" Neil asked, nemo doesn’t need to sleep or rest.

So, if he really moved, she should be aware, no?

"Master, although it is blurry, but you indeed left the domain and headed into the settlement." Nemo said, her tone grim.

"I don’t know either, I will go through my memory."

There was a short pause, as everything got engulfed in silence, Neil sat down feeling his body loose all strength.

He covered his face with his hands, mind full of chaos and as an unsettling feeling rose in his chest.

If he really turned into a mindless monster, then what if he do something to Ileana?

His strength was enough to slaughter every single person in the domain and the settlement.

"Master, I don’t know why but my memory of the last night or the days when murders were committed is gone, which can only happen if... I am ordered to do so from you."

Nemo spoke after a few seconds.

As the video before played a bit more, the smile on that monster’s face stretched to a maniacal level.

He looked straight at the camera.

Darkness filled the room and then the vision of the camera went black.

Neil was going crazy, filled with disbelief and fear, fearing himself.

His phantom side did induce negative and violent thoughts in his mind, but did he actually lose himself and committed all the murders?

The murders didn’t happen when he was awake but only when he was asleep.

Neil wasn’t sure if it really was him or if something dangerous out there was targeting him but they had hit one of the biggest insecurities.

He was afraid of losing himself to that monster, and that psychotic smile made Neil feel terror.

Just imagining himself doing all that or harming his family, it scared him.

"That’s not me! That is not me!! I am not a monster!!" his fingers dug into his own flesh, as he left deep wounds over his cheeks.

Black blood flowed out but the wounds quickly healed, a healing rate so terrifyingly high.

He wasn’t a human to begin with.

What was he supposed to tell others? How can he even return to domain, what if that thing suddenly took control of him.

Nothing had ever scared him to this point, as much as the dread of himself.

"Yes master, I believe in you. This could never be you, you have been through enough that even 1% of that could break any person, there is no way you can succumb to some monster."

Nemo said confidently.

But Neil could barely hear her, he felt darkness swallow him as two maniacal glowing eyes took form in the fog.

"Accept it, accept me, Neil Yates, it was us who killed them all!" a twisted voice suddenly sounded in his mind.

It was his soul space, there is no way someone else could enter without his permission, unless they possess some specific and special ability.

So was it really the monster in him who did it?

’It isn’t me, I would never kill people meaninglessly, I am not a monster!’ Neil retorted, feeling himself sink into the darkness.

"Hahaha Pretend all you want, we are not humans. Humanity is weak, it’s a shackle, so is love. Break it all and just accept me."

The twisted voice spoke, making Neil feel intense headache.

’I don’t care about humanity or any of that, but I will not be defeated by some petty trickster. I don’t know who you are.

I don’t know what you want. But I have faced worst nightmares, I have never accepted defeat. Whoever you are, I will look for you, I will find you, and I will kill you.’

Neil replied, a deadly aura spreading around him.

The blood lust exploded violently, the figure in the darkness was shaken, as it started to break apart.

"It’s no use, you can’t kill me, I am you. I- no we will continue to kill everyone, until all of them are dead, everyone in the settlement, everyone in our domain, even Ileana, that’s what you really want! Face it!" the twisted voice muttered before breaking apart.

’Hide all you want, I am coming for you!’ Neil added before opening his eyes.

There was still a part of him, afraid and panicked but if he himself doesn’t believe in himself, how could he expect others to do it.

Neil slowly rose to his feet, rubbing his eyes, as he watched the scenes of the murders again and again.

"Check the cameras placed outside my room." Neil said, as he walked back.

"Yes master." Nemo quickly got to the task.

"Lukas, did you find anything?" Hiroshima asked, hoping that they could stop further deaths.

He had already lost the lives of several members of the settlement, they were all already panicked.

"...No, it was not clear. We will have to return to our old methods for a while, divide everyone into two groups.

One will stay awake during the night and guard, while the other will guard during the day." Neil spoke.

How would others look at him if they saw that video?

Was he putting everyone in danger here?

"Okay, I will." Hiroshima was disappointed that the cameras didn’t catch anything.

He could only sigh, he knew almost everyone in the settlement, that’s why he was feeling really terrible.

After few minutes, Neil left the settlement, his head was still spinning, fear gripping his heart.

He didn’t want to be that sort of a mindless monster, he wanted to have a life, to experience the happiness and all other emotions.

"Lord, are you alright?" Leon asked, noticing his strange behaviour.

"Yes, I am fine." Neil replied absent mindedly.

"Don’t worry lord, how about I personally keep watch over the settlement today?" Leon asked, thinking maybe it was those deaths that upset him.

"No, there is no need for that. Just keep everyone in the domain safe." Neil answered, he saw Ileana walking out of the kitchen, she was holding a some plants.

Neil gestured for Leon to leave as he walked towards Ileana.

"Oh hubby, you are back, so did you catch- huh?" but Neil just pulled her into his arms.

He hugged her tightly, her warmth giving him comfort.

’What if I hurt her too?’ this thought messed with his mind, but Neil just held onto her tightly.

Ileana was surprised at first, but then she hugged him back, caressing his back.

"It’s alright hubby, I am here for you." She muttered softly, not asking anything.

His body was tensed, she could feel his emotions, how unstable they are.

"..." without saying a word, he just inhaled her scent.

Then pulling back, he smiled faintly, and cupped her soft rosy cheek.

"Thank you, and no matter what, I will protect you." He muttered.

"I believe in you, hubby." She spoke gently, giving a soft kiss on his lips.

"Hmm I might have to go away for some time soon." He spoke while thinking: ’I hope I can return to you.’
