Evolution: From Little Devil to Devil Empress-Chapter 358: Archdevils
Liora did not care about the frail man after devouring the demi-plane.
Although she planned to keep an eye on him in the future, she wouldn’t stop him from reviving the Demon God.
After all, without Divine Aura to support his practice, the Demon God was of little threat.
Even if he were to revive, he would never pose a danger to her.
With that in mind, Liora did not stop the frail man from leaving.
After teleporting a couple of times, she left the Central Area behind and arrived at a familiar place.
The Northern Lands. Or to be more accurate, the Blood Devil Sect that she had established before awakening her memories.
Unbeknownst to everyone, including the several Masters staying behind, their Sect Leader had returned from her long journey.
Sweeping this place with her consciousness and looking at the disciples outside, Liora couldn’t help but let out a sigh.
Not much time had passed since she left. If she were not wrong, less than two months had gone by.
Yet, during this otherwise short period of time, everything had changed.
Not only in herself but also in the world itself.
Feeling that the higher-level worlds were no longer connected and their power could no longer corrupt this world, countless thoughts raced through Liora’s mind, and she had several ideas about the future.
However, she didn’t rush to put them into action.
Taking her seat, her consciousness dove into her space ring, and she took Alpha’s mechanical core out.
Holding it tightly, she sensed the boundless power inside while her gaze grew deeper.
"Alpha and I arrived at the Demon Weapon World at the same time, yet there was a difference of thousands of years between our real arrival."
"Was this manipulated by someone, or was it a natural occurrence?"
"Could it be that my reincarnation was delayed? Perhaps we both arrived in this world thousands of years ago, but it took me thousands of years to be reborn..."
In fact, there were only two options for this dilemma.
Either this occurred as a result of human intervention or because of the reincarnation process itself.
For no logical reason, Liora tended to believe the latter.
"Reincarnation...", she subconsciously muttered the name of another high-level power similar to Nothingness and time.
However, she also understood that this was far away from her current self, and she had no real way to investigate it.
With her strength, there was no way that she could find the truth.
After all, she had already searched this world for a place similar to the Underworld or Hell, where the souls of the fallen would reside after their death.
Unfortunately, she found nothing.
Shaking her head lightly, Liora pushed that matter aside for the time being.
She stared at Alpha’s mechanical core for a few more moments, and after making sure that there was nothing wrong with this subordinate of hers, she poured her demonic energy into the core.
The latter seemed to have transformed into a gluttonous beast.
As if it had not eaten for decades, it devoured Liora’s demonic energy, and the patterns along its surface grew even more prominent.
Feeling the slumbering will inside slowly waking up, Liora made a rough estimate:
For Alpha to fully recover, it would take several years of nourishment.
Thousands of years of slumber had made her will weaker, and her "rapid" advancement made it difficult for Liora to awaken her at all at once.
"It’s good to be alive. Don’t you see? Eleanor has already turned into a painting."
"Compared to her, your situation is far better."
"Being a slumbering core, you can consider yourself lucky...", Liora joked, but the mechanical core did not seem to enjoy her humor.
It shook instinctively and almost escaped her palm, as if it wanted to showcase its anger.
Liora chuckled.
After teasing the slumbering Alpha for a few more minutes and getting no real response, she placed the core aside and let it devour the essence of a few Demon Saint beasts.
Then, her eyes narrowed, and she began taking stock of the gains she had made while she was in this world.
The biggest one was none other than her advancement to a Greater Devil.
Although the advancement did not grant her any new abilities, it had helped her life level take a leap forward, while her actual combat power had improved significantly.
By now, Liora had a great understanding of the Devil power system.
The practice of various other power systems and her experiences had elevated her insight, allowing her to tear the power system apart and examine it far more easily.
"Both Little Devils and Young Devils are cannon fodder, created by the Will of the Demon World to select the most suitable for cultivation. The former is tested on the banks of the River of Oblivion, while the latter is tested in the many Crucibles."
"It is only when someone becomes a Lesser Devil that they can be considered a real Devil. At this stage, one begins to come into deeper contact with their bloodline, gradually unveiling its mysteries."
"During the True Devil stage, Devils are tasked with fully understanding the source of their bloodline. This is mostly done through the practice of Devil Techniques. For example, I understood the concepts of ’World’ and ’Devouring’."
"As for Greater Devils? At this stage, a Devil has begun to transcend their own bloodline. They gain relative indestructibility and can be considered immortal."
Knowing this, Liora was not surprised not to have gained any new abilities.
Especially when she recalled the characteristics of the Archdevil stage, the reason became obvious.
By the time one became an Archdevil, they had grown into the "source" of their bloodline.
They could directly influence their "descendants", and it could be said that the bloodline abilities and Devil Techniques that those descendants awakened were developed by them.
"The leap from a Greater Devil to an Archdevil is massive, far bigger than any other stage before it."
"In fact, the Archdevil stage is the beginning of one’s transcendence. There are countless Greater Devils in the Demon World, but the number of Archdevils is relatively small."
Thinking of this, Liora was initially excited, knowing that she was very close to this stage.
However, when she recalled her own situation, she couldn’t help but grumble.
To become an Archdevil, one had to push their True Spirit Gate open, thus separating the core of their soul, their True Spirit, from their bloodline.
This usually required great strength, persistence, and a strong will.
Liora did not lack any of these, but she faced an important issue:
There was an Archdevil blocking the door. Moreover, was the World Devourer ancestor really an Archdevil? These were merely their one-sided words.
