Eternal Cultivation of Alchemy-Chapter 3458: Records on the True Gods

"Would you like me to get the next set of records?" the Wine God asked while gesturing to the ones before them. "You seem to be done with these."

"Are these all the records on Half-Gods?" Bladedance asked.

The old man nodded. "Every single one."

"Then bring the next ones over."

The Wine God walked away with the books, leaving behind the two of them.

Alex was still lost in his thoughts, unsure if he could become a god of another element in the future. The one he had the greatest chance of becoming a god of was certainly the Metal element, since that was the element he had a Supreme Spirit Root of.

But if a Spirit Root was all that was needed to become a god, all of the Heavenly beasts would’ve likely already become one. He had to be the greatest at using those elements, or at least be good enough that people considered him the strongest with that element.

’Shumi is already a god of Yin, isn’t she? So I can’t become one,’ Alex thought. Other than that, the rest of the elements were already sorted into the various gods that existed.

"Is Space also considered an element?" Alex asked Bladedance. "For a Half-God, I mean. The Sky God is the god of Wind and Space, right?"

"It appears to be," Bladedance said. "Newheaven has given no inclination of that being untrue."

"Then... is Time one too?" Alex asked.

"Logic states it must be," Bladedance said. "But as I said before, the Divination God doesn’t have a cult. Neither is he around enough for people to pray to him. So he isn’t a Half-God."

"If someone else were to grow to become a master of the Time element and form a cult, do you think they can become another Half-God?" Alex asked.

"Theoretically, that is possible," Bladedance said. "But you’ll be hard-pressed to find anyone who can amount to a single hair on the Divination God’s head in terms of their talent with Time. You are good, but you’re nowhere near good enough to even be in the same conversation."

Alex nodded, understanding his own weakness. But even without the Divination God being in the conversation, he would have never considered himself able to become the best with the Time element.

That would always be his aunt.

Alex moved on to the other elements to wonder if he could be good at any of them. Wood, Earth, and Water were out of the question for now since he wasn’t even good at them right now. He was a God of Fire and Yang, and Shumi had to be a god of Yin.

’What’s left then? Nothing? he thought blankly. Maybe he had to take the derivative route instead.

Instead of Earth, do crystals. Instead of Water, do steam or ice. Instead of Wood...

Alex frowned. "Master, the Storm God is the God of Wind and Lightning, right?" he asked.

"He is."

"But both Wind and Lightning are, in the end, just Wood elements, are they not? And the Wood element is the element of the Forest God," Alex said. "Doesn’t that mean that the Storm God is just the same as the Forest God? Their sources of power have to be the same, right?"

Bladedance shrugged. "It should be, but I’m pretty sure it isn’t. Throughout history, there have always been gods of Wind, Lightning, and Wood coexisting. At this point, I am very much certain that in terms of gods, those elements are treated differently enough that they don’t collide."

"Really?" Alex asked in surprise. "Then the same must be true of the Winter God’s Snow element and the Ocean God’s Water element."

"Maybe," Bladedance said. She knew too little about the elements of the Half-Gods to confidently say what could and could not be. Snow could very well be another element, and that was why the Ocean God was okay with the Winter God being one.

The Wine God returned a moment later and placed a stack of books, a much smaller one this time, and sat down on a chair beside them.

"These are the books you requested on the True Gods. I have brought specially everything I could find on the Sun God. Although, I must warn you that there is very little in here that can help you."

Alex nodded and thanked the old man anyway before reading through the books.

The books were aware of the Sun God and the Moon Goddess, including the fact that they were the True Gods. However, they did not know about the Dragon Father and Phoenix Mother, or the two trees that came before them.

There was also no evidence of the existence of these gods, so the records instead theorized that these two gods might have just been legends brought down from the old days.

These theories may have evolved from the various different constitutions around the world that were said to be the partial manifestations of the True Sun God.

The Extreme Yang Body, the Heaven Devouring Body, the Earth Consuming Physique, the Poison’s Bane Body, the Qi Stealing Body, the Serene Mind Constitution, and several other physiques and constitutions were listed as what may have caused these misunderstandings.

Alex scratched his chin, surprised at how little was known about the Sun God. Unlike the demons, the humans had kept little to no information on the Sun God. There wasn’t even a mention of the old world, at least none that was associated with the True Gods.

Surely they were aware of that, right?

Alex continued reading, expecting to find nothing else, and he was mostly right. But there was something he read in one of the records that piqued his interest quite a bit.

"A certain group believes the Sun God to no longer be a human in the current age, but rather a tree and worships it. The tree is known as the Nine Yang Divine Tree, and the people who worship it have named themselves after the tree."

"They are called the Nine Yang Court."
