Eternal Cultivation of Alchemy-Chapter 2492: Requalify
Alex wanted to object, but his shock stopped him from forming any sentences. Had he really just been disqualified from the tournament? After coming this far?
The statement seemed to come as a surprise to the ones that stood behind the Alchemy God as well. They rustled around, trying to make sense of his words but said nothing as his words were final.
The Alchemy God continued staring at Alex, as if waiting for him to turn back on his own words. He wanted Alex to ask for the pill himself to be put back into the tournament.
If that was the Alchemy God’s intention, Alex didn’t realize that. The shock had blinded him far too much to recognize any small emotion on the Alchemy God’s face.
"Did you hear me?" the Alchemy God asked. "You are disqualified."
Alex took in a deep breath, the repeated statements a hammer to the nail that was his disqualification. It drove the fact further and further into Alex’s brain.
Alex took a deep breath, pushing away the shock he felt as he became resolute. He understood what the Alchemy God wanted him to do now. He wanted him to get the pill.
But Alex wasn’t going to. Between eating the pill and letting untold secrets flow out of his mouth, and being unable to participate in the final tournament, the choice was obvious.
And yet, the final tournament was what was necessary for his master’s sake.
If that was the case, then there was but one thing left for Alex to do.
"Is my disqualification final, Your Majesty?" Alex asked.
"Yes," the Alchemy God answered in a stern voice.
Alex sighed. "Then I ask that you qualify me again."
The Alchemy God raised an eyebrow. "Do you wish to eat the pill then?"
Alex shook his head. He reached into his Soul Space and pulled out something. The golden object glinted in the lantern light, floating in front of Alex and the others.
The Immunity Pin.
The Alchemy God’s eyes widened. Whatever stern persona he had been putting up couldn’t hide away the shock of the moment. Experience more on novelbuddy
"You would rather use the pin than tell us the truth?" the Alchemy God asked.
"I am telling the truth," Alex said. "I simply do not wish to eat the pill. If I am disqualified for not eating the pill, then I will use the pin."
"Who are you protecting?" the Alchemy God asked.
"Myself."
"And no one else?" the Alchemy God asked.
Alex frowned. "Who else would I be protecting, Your Majesty?" He wondered on the inside if Fairy Xin and Shumi had been caught by some chance, but if they had been, the Alchemy God wouldn’t be here questioning him on what happened.
The Alchemy God took some time to think through the situation and sighed. "Very well," he said, grabbing the pin from the air. "I will accept your use of the pin. You are back in the competition."
Alex said no thanks in return. It was what he deserved, after all.
The Alchemy God turned toward the white-haired old lady at the back. "Anything to input here?" he asked her.
The old woman shook her head. "I am as unhelpful as you think me to be, Your Majesty," she said.
The Alchemy God frowned. "Damn you, Starsight. Be of some use."
He turned around to look back at Alex. "I don’t know what you think you’re doing, but I hope it’s worth using this pin for," he said. "I will see you during the tournament."
He left, taking with him everyone but one of the men. The man sat back, sitting on one of the chairs in the wide room.
He looked at Alex and saw his confusion. "I am your new guardian," he said. "I hope you won’t lead me to my death like you did your last one."
"I will try my best not to, senior," Alex said. He laid back on the bed, feeling the result of his action settle in his mind.
He had given away the pin for a chance to participate again, which meant he was going to be at a disadvantage against the other three competitors.
’What bad luck,’ he thought. ’I should have never gone there. Maybe he wouldn’t have died for no reason.’
His guardian’s death was on him. It didn’t feel good at all.
Alex rubbed his face in an attempt to move away from the guilt and disappointment. When he did, he felt a slight tinge of pain come from his right palm.
Confused, he looked at it.
There was no wound on his right palm, but there was some sort of bulge there.
’Huh?’ Alex was confused. There shouldn’t be any pus in his body, considering how quickly it healed. He rubbed along the bulge and felt something hard inside of his palm that pressed on his skin.
He scratched at it from the outside but couldn’t figure out what it was. Curious, he cut open the skin and dug in with his Qi to pull out whatever was inside.
Thankfully, it was no pus, and it was no bone.
It was something hard, covered completely in his blood. As his palm healed, Alex pulled the blood away from the small object, placing it back into his body.
When the blood was gone, it left behind a golden object, the sight of which shocked Alex.
It was an Immunity Pin.
"Huh?" Alex quickly got back up, looking at the pin in confusion. How did he have another pin? He looked around and saw the guardian looking at it in surprise as well. "Did His Majesty do this?"
The guardian shook his head. "I don’t think so."
"Then who?" Alex asked, looking back at the pin. He tried to think of how he could have gotten the pin. He went through his memories, and when he did, he remembered something.
Back when he was of dull mind after the explosion, he remembered Windborn pushing something into his palm. His hands had been numb that time, so he hadn’t realized something had been pushed so deep.
His hand must have healed over the pin, hiding it from the Alchemy God.
’Why would she do this?’ Alex thought, but the answer was quite obvious when he thought about it.
Once Dumei took over his body, she wouldn’t have control over Windborn’s body. As a result, she needed the pin outside of Windborn’s Soul Space and with Alex before she took over him.
’She couldn’t let someone else find it, so she dug it into my palm,’ he thought. It was a simple explanation for why the pin was there, but it made sense.

’So I gained one pin and lost another,’ Alex thought. ’So nothing’s really changed at all.’
So many things transpired in a single day today, and yet he was back to where he had started from.
’Well, not entirely,’ Alex thought. Meeting Shumi, Godslayer waking up, and the War God giving him his treasure was certainly not where he had been at the start of the day.
’Overall, I’ve come out better than I started,’ Alex thought. Maybe he didn’t have to feel so bad about it all.
He got down from the bed and stood up. "Shall we leave, senior?"
