Era of the transmigrating earth-Chapter 2148: An Unexpected Discovery of the Underground World
Just as Du You expected, the other side indeed backed off, no longer daring to charge out.
However, similarly, the other side also concealed the outbreak of the Undead from this area, not letting the surrounding cities know. It was even more impossible for them to know they lost an eighth-tier, resulting in a drop in power.
Otherwise, they would have to face attacks from both inside and out. Not only would the Undead erode their territory, but others would also come to seize parts of it, posing a threat to their resources.
Therefore, the other side unilaterally hid this news while announcing that another eighth-tier powerhouse would begin closed-door cultivation to enhance their abilities.
Meanwhile, they wanted to use this time to complete the establishment of their defensive systems and look for a chance to take down that eighth-tier Undead, which would solve their internal problems.
Next would be addressing their issue with strong fighters. The other side was thinking of finding individuals with potential in a short time to see if they could be cultivated to the eighth tier. Even forcibly advancing them to the eighth tier would be acceptable. The most important thing now wasn’t future potential but to withstand external pressure.
If all else failed, the city lord would need to secretly ally with strong individuals from other cities. Though relatively weak, others were not very strong either. Previously, they had decent strength.
Because there were two eighth-tiers in the city, they never considered forming alliances with others.
But now things were different, the changes in circumstances became very tricky for them.
Taking advantage of this opportunity, Du You didn’t trouble them but secretly led an army to move into another forest. His doppelganger had already infiltrated the other city.
Although he couldn’t claim to know everything about their movements, he was aware of their major actions.
Moreover, Du You’s doppelganger was trying to penetrate deeper into the opponent’s intelligence department. Once this was infiltrated and controlled, everything on the other side would be under his control, and he’d decide what the opponent knew or didn’t know.
But this would take time, and Du You didn’t place too much emphasis on it.
After sneaking into the forest, Du You made the first move by taking out the three eighth-tier Magical Beasts controlled by the strong fighters. The remaining two were not his match and, by the time they realized something was wrong, the occurrence of the Skeleton Bulls and the Undead recently modified by Du You had swiftly eradicated them, with the process not taking much time.
So the combat fluctuations weren’t significant and wouldn’t be noticed by the city that had already contracted its defenses.
Once a large number of Undead creatures entered, Du You commenced controlling everything in this area, controlling the animals instead of slaughtering them—they could make their Undead through their own territories anyway.
As long as the basic Undead facilities were constructed, the production of ordinary Undead wouldn’t require any credits; just stones and wood as basic materials would suffice, and the Undead could be produced continuously.
Even though these were almost all low-level entities, they were already sufficient as cannon fodder.
And as for animals, they could either be raised to become food for his subjects or driven away. If they posed a real threat, Du You wouldn’t tolerate them, he’d just hunt them down.
Meanwhile, encouraged by the Undead, a massive city began construction once more. Without a choice, in this world, it was essential to build cities to establish territorial ownership.
If he didn’t construct a city, he’d need to occupy the enemy’s city to claim the area.
Why the world’s will imposed such strange rules was unknown, but that was the way of the Outer World where all rules were dictated by the world’s will. To develop here, one must adhere to its principles.
After some time, several powerful Undead creatures were crafted by Du You.
With these, he finally had the foundation needed to conquer the surrounding regions. 𝘧𝑟𝑒𝑒𝘸𝘦𝘣𝑛𝑜𝘷𝑒𝓁.𝘤𝘰𝓂
But even before Du You could make a move, one day a Kobold came running with a report, "Master, we discovered a huge space underground, it might be connected to the underground world."
This Kobold wasn’t the typical shabby type; it was the Kobold leader, a Kobold general under his command. Clad in immaculate White Bone Armor, it exuded a sense of grandeur.
Similarly, this fellow had a tall skeletal frame and golden fur, looking more like a lion. Its own strength was remarkable, reaching the sixth tier after improvements over time.
However, it was not easy to reach the seventh tier.
"Underground World? Didn’t expect such a place to exist. Has anyone been sent to investigate?" Du You was intrigued, not having expected this world to have an Underground World setup, indicating instability underground as well.
"We have sent many to survey it. The underground space is extensive and likely connected to the Underground World. We aren’t clear on specifics yet, which will require time."
"No need to wait. Since the underground space is vast, I will go and explore personally. Meanwhile, let the Undead Army descend first; they have the numbers." With Undead creation being so easy, newly made Undead in this period far exceeded the number of Kobold and Goblin subjects.
Not just by a little, but by tens or hundreds of times, the quantity was terrifying.
Undeads indeed were one of the easiest-to-become pervasive forces of a Heavenly Disaster.
Upon Du You’s command, large numbers of Undead formed teams and, led by intelligent Undead, entered the underground world, while Du You watched from the sidelines.
The entrance was a huge pit, but Du You still felt it was too small.
"Excavate, enlarge this hole, and build stairs for easy access." Watching the army slowly squeeze through was irksome, so he ordered excavation to widen the passage.
Anyway, this was his domain; anything he did here wouldn’t pose any trouble.
The city lord on the opposite side still remained cooped up, unaware of how much power had proliferated here. Perhaps due to a lack of aggressive actions, he might still think they could coexist peacefully.
People tend to think favorably of situations that benefit them, even eighth-tier powerhouses are no exception.
The project went on for three days, during which the entrance expanded many times over, and a large number of Undead had penetrated the underground. Du You finally received confirmation that this was indeed an entrance to an Underground World, quite the unexpected surprise!
