Chapter 527: The Playful World Master

Clyde immediately tensed, his shoulders going stiff. That presence. It wasn’t human.

Beside him, Mina stood up abruptly, eyes wide.

"Jack, w-who is that?" she whispered.

Clyde glanced at her, suppressing his instinct to shield her. Right. He was in Jack’s body. Jack wouldn’t know. He had to play dumb.

"I don’t know," Clyde said calmly, keeping his composure. "Maybe some crazy guy who somehow found us in this park." fгee𝑤ebɳoveɭ.cøm

But inside, his thoughts ran like wildfire.

"How did he find me? Does he know who I am or is he come meet me for diffrrrent reasons?"

Sonething must have briught him here. But what?

Clyde had been suspocious about who had betrayed him and revealed his coordinate.

Agatha? He considered it, but quickly discarded the idea. She was in too deep. If he fell, she would too.

But that didn’t clear her entirely. She could have slipped. Or someone else could’ve been watching.

Clyde didn’t like the uncertainty. It made him feel exposed.

The man in the white suit stood, leisurely brushing off his sleeves. Hands in his pockets, he strolled toward them, steps slow and deliberate.

Clyde stepped forward instinctively, placing himself between Mina and the stranger.

"What do you want?" he asked, voice low.

The man’s smile remained.

"I just want to say that I’m impressed," he said lightly. "I’m impressed you found it."

Clyde narrowed his eyes. "Found what?"

"The hidden weapon," the man said, gaze twinkling. "One of the ones I scattered."

"The spear," Clyde thought immediately. "He’s talking about the spear I found in the bushes."

"I don’t know what you’re talking about," Clyde replied, feigning confusion.

The man tilted his head. "Maybe not yet. But you will. You and your little girlfriend both will understand."

Mina flinched slightly behind Clyde, confused and still shaken.

Then the man continued, voice casual like he was chatting about the weather. "In about a month, your world is going to break because an apocalypse will happen. Total chaos. People will die. Magic will awaken. Structures of society will collapse. All that fun stuff."

Clyde remained still and silent.

He’s giving a warning. But why? That wasn’t how they worked.

Mina’s eyes darted to Clyde. "Is... is you really telling the truth?"

Clyde glanced a meaningfull look at Mina, then pretended to be startled. Understand, Mina decided to shut her mouth.

"What? Apocalypse? Why are you telling us this?" Clyde asked.

The man chuckled. "Ever read a fantasy novel? Or watched one of those ’world ends because of ancient magic’ stories? That’s what’s coming. Most people won’t get a warning. But you—" He pointed lazily at Clyde. "—you found one of the pieces I planted. That gives you the privilege of knowing what’s coming. Lucky you."

Clyde clenched his jaw. His heart beat faster, but his face stayed neutral.

"And why you tell me? Why warn anyone at all?"

"Because," the man said, smiling wider, "sometimes it’s fun to add a twist. You see, usually we don’t give anyone a chance to prepare. But I wanted to see what would happen if I gave a few people a head start."

Mina trembled behind him. She didn’t speak.

The man turned away then, already walking off.

"Train hard, kids," he said, waving over his shoulder. "The game begins soon."

Then, as suddenly as he appeared, the man vanished into the night.

Clyde and Mina stayed rooted in place long after the man disappeared.

The wind brushed softly against their clothes, but neither moved.

Mina was pale, swallowing hard with her hands lightly trembling. Clyde stood firm and frowning.

"That World Master... he’s toying with us, and testing the waters. But that’s good. That means I can play the game too."

If one of the World Masters was acting on amusement instead of strict protocol, then there was room to negotiate, manipulate, bargain with him while kffering him something interesting he can see.

Clyde had done it once before and he could do it again. It would make his journey easier if he was careful and smart.

But he couldn’t afford to stand out too soon. That was the trick. Move just fast enough to stay ahead but not fast enough to draw the full weight of their gaze. Or all of his preparations will go to waste again. He can’t let this second chances go away.

He turned to Mina.

"You alright?" he asked, his tone softer.

Mina hesitated. She gave a quick nod, then her lips trembled, and she shook her head slowly with uncertain feeling.

"I don’t know," she admitted with small voice. "I thought I was alrught. But that man... that wasn’t normal huma, Jack. That was something else and I was scared of him."

"Yeah," Clyde said gently. "He wasn’t normal,or even a human."

Mina looked at him. "Do you believe what he said?"

Clyde offered a thin smile. "Do you?"

She looked down. "I didn’t before when you said it. But now... yes. I think I do. This end of the world is really coming."

Silence passed between them before she asked, "Who was that man? Why is he here and warn us about all this?"

Clyde’s eyes flicked around the area, scanning every corner, every shadow. If the World Master was still nearby and lingering with some kind of spatial trick, he didn’t want to say too much to Mina.

He leaned in slightly and said, "I’ll tell you what I can. But not here and not now."

Mina nodded quickly.

"Let’s go home first and calm ourselves," Clyde said then starting to walk.

Without a word, Mina followed. Her footsteps were quieter and slower now.

Clyde walked a step ahead, one hand casually near his pocket where the Silvercoil Spear was hidden, just in case.

The sky above was turning darker by the second, and the first stars of the evening began to flicker into view.

This game had finally begun, again. This will be the start of his revenge.
