Endless Horde: Through the Eyes of a Godking-Chapter 638: Endless Sea of Time
Chapter 638: Endless Sea of Time
--
Cedric’s conciousness remained immersed in the sea of laws, eyes wide open as he pondered about the mysteries dancing in front of him.
He felt as if he was submerged in the depths of the ocean trying to look at the skies despite the chaotic turbulence of the waters around him. Yet slowly but surely, things started making sense for him.
Cedric felt his consciousness floating, the waters that shrouded his eyes were slowly dissipating as his mind ascended.
Then, as if his head broke out of the water, he instinctively let out a sharp gasp, feeling a breeze of cool and crisp air hitting his lungs, followed by a piercing clarity.
Unknowingly, his consciousness arrived at an unknown space.
First, he discovered that the rest of his body was still submerged in the waters and only his head was out. The sea he’s in was surprisingly still, yet despite that, he also discovered that no matter what he did, he couldn’t get the rest of his body out of the waters. He couldn’t even move the rest of his limbs. He was stuck there with his head out, quite literally like a sore thumb.
Then, he stared at the sight around him. Here, he discovered something highly unusual and strange.
He wasn’t the only one in this strange sea. There were countless more people in. Some were like him, with their heads poking out of the water, but not feeling as frantic and puzzled as he was. Their eyes were dull and glazed, like they’re dead or something.
Others had more than their heads out. A few floated with their torsos out, some only had their legs left submerged in the water. It’s as if they’re standing in shallow waters, but there’s really no foothold underneath them.
And there’s a very select few who were sitting on the surface of the water. Their eyes closed in meditation and their heads slowly angled towards the sky as if at any moment now, they’d open their eyes and stare directly at it.
Cedric blinked. He calmed himself down and tried spreading his consciousness around only to discover that he couldn’t.
He wasn’t too upset though. He already knew that this placd was highly unusual, and from what he had seen so far, he shouldn’t even be conscious right now. He should be like the rest; eyes dull and glazed while floating about in the seemingly endless sea with no land on sight.
’Is the sea of time?’ Cedric thought wildly in his heart.
And the more he looked around, the more he felt like his guess was correct.
Indeed, it is. After consuming the brain of the space whale and elevating his understanding of Space and Time Laws to the Great Law level, his consciousness arrived here.
The phenomenon of his head rising to the surface of the sea of time was an indication that he had gained the qualification to be less affected by it. Meaning that the effects of time; such as aging, temporal imbalance, interference, etc. will now had very limited effects on him.
And from what he had seen so far, he assumed that the more of his body floating out of this sea, the lesser it’s effects on him will become.
This was a sign that he’s becoming a true immortal, though not entirely yet.
What he didn’t understand though is that, why is he the only one who’s seemingly conscious in this space? Why do others look like a shell of their former self? Like an empty soul?
Was he supposed to be like them too? Is this because of his unatural upbringing? Would he eventually become like them too?
Cedric has many questions yet sadly, they couldn’t be answered right now.
He never got any information about this place before. This was the first time he even knew this place existed. He initially thought that he’d only understand the Space and Time Laws at the Great Law level, which would mean staring at it directly until it starts making sense to him. He never expected that his consciousness will arrive here.
’I wonder what happens when those guys opens their eyes.’
He’s referring to those who were sitting at the surface of the water - which is the sea of time. He wondered if they’d suddenly start walking on the surface of the water or straight up fly to the skies.
Alas, he guessed that he wouldn’t see it anytime soon.
The longer he remained conscious here, the more this place felt familiar to him. He still couldn’t move an inch of his body that’s submerged in the water though, but his head remains free to look around and move. He could even twist his head around as if he doesn’t have a neck or a spine that would twist or break if he did so. It felt really strange to him.
Then, he wondered if he’d become like the rest once the consciousness withdrew from this place. Would he turn out lifeless and dull like them? Will he never be able to return here again?
He felt a little unwilling when his thoughts came to this. So, he began devicing a way to, at the very least, be able to return here at some point so he could continue looking around.
Cedric was stumped at first. He had no idea where to begin.
But when he began spreading out his consciousness around him. He discovered that the sea of time was reacting strangely to it.
"Hmm!?" He let out a surprised hum.
That’s because all of sudden, he found out that one of his fingers moved just now.
That really surprised him because earlier, he knew that this should’ve been impossible. He thought that maybe he was just feeling things because he’d been here longer than he probably should have, but no! His right pinky finger indeed moved!
Recalling what he did that might’ve caused this, a strange light burst from his eyes.
Cedric then continued mobilizing his consciousness, but instead of spreading it to his surroundings, he poured it on his body here.
He was met with a suprising resistance for some reason, but instead of stopping him, it just encouraged him even more because the deeper he got, the more of his mobility was restored.
It’s like by doing this, he’s loosening the sand that constricted him in place. freёwebnoѵel.com
It started with his pinky finger, then all of his fingers, then his fist, hand, and slowly but surely, followed by the rest of his body.
This took some time, but eventually, he did it. Cedric’s body felt free from the strange shackles that previously bound him.
His mind also felt clearer, and more he thought about it, the closer he felt to this place. It felt more and more like home to him.
He still couldn’t sit on the surface of the waters like the other empty souls around him could. No matter how fiercely he kicked his legs, he couldn’t get more of his body out of the waters. This made him realize that maybe, the only way to do so is by understanding the Great Law of Time and Space deeper.
But even though he couldn’t go above the surface yet, at the very least, he could swim in it.
Yes, Cedric was now able to swim at the sea of time. It’s exhausting, don’t get him wrong, but he’s capable of doing it, and it seems like he’s the only one who could.
What does this mean for him? Well, Cedric has no idea yet.
But if he were to tell this to an Immortal, or even a Heavenly Venerate, maybe someone even stronger...they’d probably stare at him in disbelief.
Because truthfully, Cedric just did something impossible.
It’s not like he’s the first one to think about trying to stay awake in this mysterious realm. There had been many who came before him. They’ve exhausted their means yet all of them failed miserably.
Because you see, staying consciouss in this endless sea of time and space means having the possibility to become the master of it.
Oh, yes. One isn’t just limited to transcending the endless sea of time and space, if they could do what Cedric had done just now, they could potentially leave a mark of ownership to this sea and become its master.
The benefits of doing so could only be imagined.
Of course, it’s easier said than done, but it’s possible. That’s why to this day, many are still trying to do so.
But this isn’t something that Cedric must know just yet. In fact, unless he step into the Heavenly Venerate first, he mustn’t even think about it, because he’d be too weak to do anything big just yet.
Being able to freely swim in the sea of time and space like this, though difficult, felt so much fun for him though. He’s like a kid swimming for the first time with his friends.
Alas, the fun only lasted for a bit before fading away. He has stayed longer than necessary here. But the good news is that, since he was able to swin freely here, he wouldn’t be like others.
His consciousness could return here anytime he pleased. And that’s enough for him right now. That’s what he wanted to happen in the first place.
Now, back to his physical body...
