CHAPTER 23

Going as planned, Liu Xueyi did as he had promised. He got dressed in simple blue jeans trousers, a pair of black sneakers and a black long-sleeved shirt, folded in both hands with a few buttons loosened.

Adding to the ensemble was a black cap with the words 'Emperor' written on it in gold letterings.

His hair was neatly tucked behind his ears, giving her a full view of his handsome face.

At first glance, Andromeda had a good look at his well-sculptured chest and his hard to die for looks.

If not for the fact that she had her fair share of men, she would have been drooling at his simple outfit.

However, she knew better than to hit on her boss. The best thing was to brush things off and leave.

He drove her out of the estate and the two of them had a nice chit chat about the day, city and other plans relating to her new work.

It was also at this time, that she told him of her new place in the city. Although he had wished to ask her the reason for her move, he did not want to pry further and so he let her be.

A couple of minutes later, they arrived at the nuzzling market. Wasting no time, Andromeda began shopping.

Not wanting to disturb her and look like her handbag, Liu Xueyi went ahead to shop for himself.

Minutes later, Andromeda walked up to him with a smile that could put the most troubled hearts at rest, watching as he made his decision on the raw veggies in his hands.

Smiling with her trolley in front of her, she called out in a low voice. "Hey."

He peeled his gaze from the new variety of carrots and lettuce he was checking out to stare at her. "You done?" His cool voice rang in her ears even though he spoke softly.

Her cheeks puffed up and she shook her head. "Sorry. I still need some things. You?"

"Well, I never thought I needed much, but seeing things here, different dishes are coming to mind."

At the mention of dishes, her heartbeat sped and flashes of the meal that morning came rolling in.

She gulped visibly before turning her head to her side. "Umm, I would go get my…" she swallowed again, completely short of words.

Sensing her difficulty, a smile tainted his lips. "Yeah, you can go," he urged. 𝘧r𝘦𝗲w𝘦𝚋𝐧o𝘷𝘦𝙡.co𝑚

Quickly, Andromeda took some steps away from him, placing the trolley between them while her eyes and hands resumed her shopping.

After a few minutes, she lifted her head up and turned to her side, hoping to catch a glimpse of all the foodstuff there to enable easy spotting of foodstuffs when her eyes caught something at the far end of another shelf.

For the next few seconds, she paused. Her breathing ceased briefly as her fingers loosened.

She did not move nor say anything. The expression on her face changed from one of shock to fear and then confusion.

Soon her chest rose and fell in great bursts as she took in deep breaths. However, her eyes remained stuck on what she was looking at.

Before she knew what was going on, flashes of images from the past flashed before her eyes while shaking her with reality.

Her throat felt hot and dry at the same time as her eyes began to sting and her mind took her down memory lane.

Standing at the far end close to the shelf was no other than the woman who had assisted her mother in raising her. Their only house help.

At first, when she saw her, she did not say or think anything. This woman wasn't the one she would expect to run into but when her eyes blinked severally again, causing a tear to fall off her eyelid, her confirmation was formed.

The longer her gaze stayed on the woman, the more several thoughts spiralled in her mind.

Miss Long Su, the personal maid of Mrs Lang Qian Yu, ran off after the death of the madam of the Bai family.

Those words rang on in her mind and head for a long time as several thoughts came to her mind and the carrots in her hands finally dropped.

Without thinking properly, she began to move in her direction. Her steps went slowly at first but soon became faster and when she noticed the woman was about to move, her lips parted, causing her to call out even though she wanted to keep things low.

"Miss… Long Su! Miss Long Su."

Instinctively, the said woman lifted her head and half turned on her heels in the direction the voice was coming from.

The moment her eyes locked with the woman's face, she stopped in her tracks, her hands falling to her side as the shock once again hit her heart.

'It's... It's... haha, she is the one. She's alive. She's here.'

Her eyes went wide as though she has just seen the world's biggest animal. On the other hand, Andromeda's lips pulled to the side, revealing a tight-lipped smile on her face.

Watching this, the lady's heart skipped a bit. She watched in shock as Andromeda opened her mouth, ready to say something. She panicked.

It felt like her heart flew into her mouth at that moment and she turned instantly as she hurried away.

Her brows kneaded in confusion and she took her next step, hurrying after the lady. "Miss Fong Su! Wait!"

And so, the chase began.

Liu Xueyi who had been deep in thought snapped out of it when he heard the panic hidden in Andromeda's voice as she called a certain woman's name.

He turned his head to the side and found her not. His chest rose instantly, while his gaze checked around but he did not find her.

"Wait!" He heard her soft voice yell again and whipped his head in her direction.

No sooner had he said that than he felt a pair of heated eyes on him.

Instinctively, he stylishly looked at his side and noticed two men watching her and then the other kept his gaze on him. His breathing hitched. "Andromeda."
