Emperor's Domination (Web Novel)-Chapter 6509: Suffering
Chapter 6509: Suffering
“Really?” Li Qiye smirked.
“Of course. My previous life might have been great but at best, it was just walking on a pre-existing path.” Splendor Monarch said: “I want no part in such a miserable life of constant suffering and no end in sight. Others slave away like oxen but still get some reward out of it, not us.”
“Don’t be so sure, perhaps you will get something out of it, maybe even enjoyment.” Li Qiye said.
“Bah, I’ve been enlightened on this matter. Is your enjoyment from protecting and saving this world? You get zero gratitude from its inhabitants.” He said.
“I don’t need gratitude.” Li Qiye said.
“For example, what you did yesterday with the temporal reversal. They might start wondering why you didn’t reverse time more and save the three behemoths, then it goes beyond that. There’s so much suffering in this world and you have the power to make it beautiful.” He said.
“The mortal world can’t become beautiful.” Li Qiye said.
“Exactly, so no matter how much you do, you get nothing out of it but bitterness. Your good deeds go unrewarded outside of empty praises and thanks. They are cheap and useless to you. Some might say you are an immortal and can’t expect insects such as themselves to offer more than gratitude. Therefore, everything is just a burden, nothing good comes out of this.” He said.
“Are you talking about me or yourself?” Li Qiye asked: “You once protected your epoch.”
“That’s the past me, no connection to me now.” He said.
“I suppose such enlightenment can be good.” Li Qiye said.
“Unfortunately, you are unenlightened. Nothing changes when you kill the villainous heaven, you will continue the lonely journey filled with bitterness. No one will remember you in due time.” He said.
“I disagree, some will remember me. After so many epochs and death, some still remember and despise the villainous heaven.” Li Qiye said.
“Then you’re just asking for more trouble.” He laughed.
“The path must be walked, my dao heart won’t waver.” Li Qiye said.
“The issue is your refusal to take the villainous heaven’s place. That prevents changes to your situation and the world.” He said.
“Sure, nothing will change but I will get my answer, that has always been my goal.” Li Qiye said.
“A glutton for punishment, choosing to suffer when there are plenty of better ways to live.” He teased.
“So many such as devouring or saving the world, or just becoming a mortal.” Li Qiye said.
“I’m sure you’ve asked yourself why many times before.” He said.
“Yes, and a cliche response would be it’s fate. My response would be because I’m me and I need to be my true self. This is my reason for being.” Li Qiye said.
“Sigh, I gave you another cool moment, didn’t I? Calling me a fake self, I see.” He lamented.
“Not quite a fake self, perhaps just a different version.” Li Qiye said.
“Fake or not, I only care about luxury and wealth in this life. Another life will have to wait after my death, I won’t care then.” He said.
“Life is finite, ignorance is bliss.” Li Qiye nodded.
“You’re the ignorant one.” He retorted.
Li Qiye chuckled and enjoyed being fed by a beauty while enjoying the sea breezes.
“Why are you freeloading off me? You can create your own world.” He became annoyed after seeing Li Qiye’s enjoyment.
“Doing so means my dao heart has wavered, would be foolish of me.” Li Qiye shook his head.
“Would it kill you not to show off? I can’t make a world like that, don’t you get it?” He gritted his teeth.
“If you worked as hard as I did, you could too.” Li Qiye casually said.
“If I have to suffer to create a world when I already have a good thing going on, that would be masochistic.” He said.
“People are either suffering or on the path toward suffering. There is meaning in this.” Li Qiye said: “Maybe you would choose it in your next life.”
“Not my problem, I only need to live this one to the fullest.” He said.
“Things don’t always go as planned.” Li Qiye said: “Maybe someone will just drag you back after your death.”
“Shit.” He glared at Left and Right before shouting: “Bastards, are you two going to revive me again?”
The two exchanged glances. Left said: “You talk.”
“You do it.” Right said.
“I see.” He glared at them.
“No use in scolding them since the old geezer dug this trap himself. Although it’s not a true rebirth, it’s a clever duplication, a knockoff.” Li Qiye said.
“You’re the knockoff.” He remarked.
“From the perspective of the geezer, a fully imprinted version should be identical to him, not you. A flawed version should be destroyed, which is why they are here.” Li Qiye said.
“We didn’t do anything.” Left and Right chuckled awkwardly after seeing Splendor Monarch’s piercing glare.
