Chapter 38: Finding information in the library

’What the actual hell is this?’

A bookshelf has five shelves in it, and on the side of the bookshelf, there is a big sticker that seems to tell about the genre of the books you would be able to find on that particular shelf.

He looked at the first bookshelf and read all five stickers one by one in his mind.

’What if this whole bookshelf is filled with romance novels? There should be a history genre on the other shelves’.

He moved to the third bookshelf, and finally, a sigh of relief escaped his mouth, but it was still not the history genre.

This shelf is filled with literature on dating and relationships. He is disappointed, but if he had time, he would like to read a few of these books. While he didn’t get flustered or embarrassed while talking to women now, he still had no clue about how a relationship would work.

’I don’t want to embarrass myself when the time comes.’

He still remembers Liora and Zyra; they are both sweet. He thinks he is likely going to end up with one of them. He does like both of them, but he is not sure if this would work in a reverse gender morality world. Even if it is a fantasy world, a man being with two women at the same time would surely be frowned upon, especially due to the reserved morals of this world.

And from his world’s perspective, it would be like a girl having a relationship with two men at the same time.

’Surely they would utterly despise this idea.’

’It’s a pity.’

He really felt it was a pity that the morality of the world is against him having a harem of his own.

Coming out of his thoughts, he now moved up to the fourth bookshelf. The three upper shelves are labeled as Men’s Healthy Lifestyle, and the lower two are Self-Growth.

He still hopes he will find a historical book, but he is not too confident now. At first, he had assumed that the library must have historical books in it, but the reality seemed to say otherwise.

’I really wish I could at least find a single historical or general knowledge book here.’

He started reading the labels from bottom to top, this time, the first one being Elven Language. Seeing the label, his hope rose a little. Onto the next, he read the title: ’Elven Law and Power.’

These two titles are already a must for him, and now the next one is titled ’Travel and Culture,’ the fourth one is ’History of Earth,’ and the last one is ’Elven History.’

’Finally!!!’

This whole shelf is filled with books he would absolutely like to devour during the time he would be here.

’It’s a pity I wasn’t able to find any book on magic here, but I have to make do with this for now.’

He had just seen a female elf walking onto the stairs leading to the first floor, and in front of the stairs, there was a sign saying ’ONLY ELVES’ in capital letters, which means he doesn’t have permission to go there.

’I am sure I would be able to find a book on magic on the second floor.’

There is a second floor too, which he had seen from the outside. He had no way of going to the first floor, so he didn’t think about it, but it left him curious about what could be on that floor.

Arthur first decided to take out a book from the History of Earth section. He took out a book and then moved to an empty seat at the table and sat down.

He had noticed that, other than him, there were only about 10 to 11 other male slaves sitting inside, and most of the seats were empty.

He started reading the book, and he noticed that he could read much faster than he had imagined. While he is quite a fast reader due to his having read hundreds and hundreds of fantasy novels in his previous life,

’Still, this speed is too fast even after considering that, and I can’t even understand what I am reading at that pace.’

Just now, he remembered that his intelligence stat got a 200% boost due to the title, which made it the highest stat he had, crossing one digit, being 12 after the boost.

Which must be the reason for his fast reading.

’It makes things much easier. It would have taken me around 4 to 5 hours to finish a book with my speed, but now I am confident I could do it in two to two and a half hours.

His work time is already over, and now he is free. It is around 3:30 PM right now, which leaves him about five hours’ worth of time.

’I should be able to finish two books by the time of dinner.’

Now he is completely focused on finishing this book.

Arthur stopped himself after completely reading about half of the Chapters of the book. He looked at the clock—it had been only 1 hour.

He didn’t finish the book, but he stopped himself anyway. From what he had read, he had come to the conclusion that, other than the fact that all the major parts of history are almost the same, there’s the weird fact that all the roles are reversed—even Adolf Hitler is a woman in this version. Even their names had a resemblance for him to tell—like Adolf Hitler to Madolf Shitler.

Which is why he had decided to skip the whole section of Earth history, but not before he would be able to find the book on events of the near past, like about 7 years from the time the elves had taken over the Earth.

That is the part he is actually curious about.

It’s the year 2032 currently in terms of the Earth calendar, so he really wants to know the history of the time frame from 2025 to 2032.
