Elf Kingdom: Game of the World Tree-Chapter 353 - 336: Is This Really an MMORPG?!
Chapter 353: Chapter 336: Is This Really an MMORPG?!
Chosen City, in the solemn and austere Central Temple.
Players came and went, entering and exiting the temple.
In the center of the temple stood a Holy Goddess Statue approximately three meters high, exquisitely crafted and incredibly beautiful.
Some players "devoutly" prayed before the statue, while others murmured words to themselves in its presence.
They were mostly old players, their expressions varied: some excited, some frustrated, some anxious, and some full of anticipation...
Dongdong followed Meng Zhihan into the temple, curiously observing everything inside.
"In this game, the temple is a place you need to use quite often."
"This is the largest temple in Chosen City. Usually, if you need to access the exchange mall, or when you’re changing classes at level 11, you do it here by praying to Eve Goddess’s statue."
"Of course, you could also choose to directly face the World Tree outside and pray, but us old players believe in the esoteric when it comes to the raffle pool. We generally think that facing the statue of the Goddess has a higher drop rate, though there’s no real evidence..."
Meng Zhihan explained the purpose of the temple to her best friend, word by word.
Dongdong nodded as she listened, her eyes curiously scanning the temple. But when her eyes landed on the Goddess Statue in the center, she couldn’t look away.
Seeing the sparkle in her friend’s eyes, Meng Zhihan showed a *"knew it"* expression and smirked, saying,
"This is the statue of the Goddess."
"The Goddess is the most important faction NPC in the entire game and also our leader. Her name is Eve Yggdrasil."
"The essence of Goddess Eve is the World Tree. She often appears in the plot animations as an avatar and has even interacted with some lucky players..."
"By the way, the avatars of the Goddess are awesome. It feels like the officials put half their effort into creating the Goddess’s character model. You’ll have a chance to see various recorded videos; there are quite a few online."
"You’ve seen the screenshots too; the real avatars of the Goddess are even prettier than the pictures. Somehow, videos never capture that extra bit of grace, that divine aura, that shocks people when seen in the game..."
"Oh, and the entire main storyline of ’Elf Kingdom’ is about assisting the Goddess, helping her regain strength, and rebuilding the glory of elven civilization."
Dongdong’s eyes lit up at her words, and she looked at the statue excitedly, saying,
"A faction leader? This character is so amazing! So beautiful! And... this statue gives off such a curious feeling, I can’t quite explain it, just really comfortable, with a sort of indescribable divine aura... It feels completely different from the screenshots you just showed me."
"I wish I could hug this statue back home and place it next to my SD doll!"
Meng Zhihan hesitated, then replied,
"Sis, we’re in a game... If you want to get chased by NPCs, just go ahead and touch the statue..."
"But if you’re really interested, you can search on the shopping site; there are a lot of figures of the Goddess... and this statue only captures perhaps a third of the Goddess’s aura."
"But what you said about that divine feeling is true, maybe it’s the atmosphere of the temple."
Meng Zhihan said.
"Is that so?"
Dongdong’s eyes brightened,
"You said there were videos? Where’s the video link? I want to see! I want to see!"
Seeing her friend’s fan-like excitement, as if spotting her idol, Meng Zhihan was speechless.
*Indeed... after seeing the Goddess, her face and doll admiration kicked in again.*
*Another Goddess fan added.*
*No help for it, the Goddess’s image in ’Elf Kingdom’ was just too perfect. I heard that in the neighboring two-dimensional forum’s moe contest, Eve Goddess was almost sweeping the board...*
*All face-fans.*
She sighed slightly and picked a few of her collected videos to send to her friend.
Dongdong eagerly clicked them open to watch...
A moment later...
Dongdong closed the web page on the system interface, her eyes sparkling with stars as she looked at the statue in the temple,
"Eve Goddess is amazing, and the battle effects are wicked cool! And her voice is really pleasant!"
"I’ve decided I will be a fan of little Eve from now on!"
Little... little Eve...
Meng Zhihan twitched her lips,
"Don’t say that in front of NPCs, or you’ll lower your favorability. NPCs in this game respect the Goddess very much."
"Even that lowers favorability? Are NPCs really that smart?"
Dongdong was a bit surprised.
"What did you think? It’s not just talk when it feels as real as a teleportation journey."
Meng Zhihan rolled her eyes at her.
Dongdong smiled sheepishly after listening.
Then she gave the Goddess statue another look, seemingly lost in thought,
"Speaking of which... Why does the name Eve Goddess feel so familiar to me? And if I look closely at the Goddess’s image, it seems like I’ve seen it somewhere before too..."
"Really? Maybe it’s online. ’Elf Kingdom’ got popular, and so did Goddess Eve online. There’s even a fan circle! And quite a few emojis."
Meng Zhihan said.
"Exactly! Emojis! It’s the emojis!"
As if a light bulb went off, Dongdong slapped her forehead and quickly opened the web in the system to search, pulling up a specific set of chibi expressions.
It was a set of adorable Goddess expressions—cheering, being cute, angry, happy... all depicting a chibi version of Eve.
"That’s it!"
She took a screenshot and sent it to Meng Zhihan.
After seeing it, Meng Zhihan chuckled, saying,
"That’s the Goddess! This chibi image originally spread from the game! When you complete the main storyline missions, sometimes you can see the chibi Goddess cheering on the system interface, super cute."
"Yes! Super cute! I fell in love with this set of expressions at first sight. I didn’t realize this was where they originated!"
Dongdong nodded eagerly.
After speaking, she stretched with a yawn, exhaling delightfully as she said,
"I’ve decided, if I have spare time, I’ll join you and Silly Han to play! This game is quite interesting after all!"
Hey, hey, hey!
I haven’t even introduced you to the various gameplay features, just the Goddess!
You face-loving dog!
Meng Zhihan, looking at her newly excited friend, found herself at a loss for words.
Meanwhile, Dongdong continued to explore the temple, occasionally reaching out to touch the carvings or tables and softly remarking,
"Honestly... the textures feel really amazing! It’s hard to believe this is a game... And the internal structure of this temple is fantastic."
"Naturally, Second Life’s slogan is not just for show! And this temple took us old players a lot of effort to build!"
Meng Zhihan looked slightly proud.
Hearing this, Dongdong paused, her expression a bit surprised,
"This temple was built by you guys?"
"Yes, or more precisely, the entire main city of Chosen City was built by us, from nothing, brick by brick."
The entire... city?
Dongdong was momentarily stunned.
She swallowed and suddenly turned, heading for the temple’s main entrance.
Meng Zhihan, a bit puzzled, followed her.
Dongdong walked straight out of the temple to the square outside.
The bonfire event was winding down; many players had reached the end of their stamina and had gone to sleep, leaving only a few night owls.
Looking around, Dongdong spotted a platform in the center of the square.
It was usually used by players for events.
She didn’t hesitate, walking directly over and ascending it, then looking around...
The wide vista of Chosen City came into view, breathtaking and vast.
Under the lights of the city, it was shrouded in a misty glow, utterly enchanting.
The diverse architecture, the beautiful and intricate gardens, all lit by countless lights, made Chosen City look even dreamier than it did by day.
"All of this was built by players? Is this really an MMORPG game?"
Dongdong’s eyes widened, and she couldn’t help but let out a curse.
