Chapter 949: Chapter 987: Don’t Plead for Him

Mabel Quinn remained silent, understanding Kyle Kinston’s suffering and pain. Such a tragic past was not something she had experienced, so she had no right to say anything.

But if she said nothing and did nothing, then what would happen to the Conley Family on the other side?

On one side was the person she loved the most, while on the other, was her good friend. On one side was his hatred, while on the other were still living people. What should she do?

Mabel had never felt so conflicted and contradictory.

"Kyle, do you hate him that much?" she murmured, asking.

"What reason do I have not to hate him?" he retorted.

She was at a loss for words. Yes, there was no reason not to hate him. Even though the initial fake death might have been unintentional, later on, when Kyle’s mother left and Kyle’s father disappeared, Mr. Conley could have stepped forward.

And once Mr. Conley appeared, many things might have changed, right?

"So Mabel, I’ve already decided on this matter, and you should no longer plead for him," he said, lowering his head, his eyes fixedly gazing at her. "Because I will definitely not let him go, even if you plead, it will be of no use."

She only felt her lips dry and parched, as if she had lost her ability to speak...

A sleepless night, and the next day, Mabel Quinn went to the crew with panda eyes. However, her mind remained absent, resulting in several typos in today’s revised script.

"Mabel, what’s the matter? You seem a bit distracted today," the director asked.

"It’s nothing, maybe I went to bed too late yesterday. I’ll be fine after a cup of coffee," Mabel responded, but her mind couldn’t help recalling Kyle looking as if everything was normal, as if nothing ever happened.

It seemed as though everything she heard last night, along with his pain and resolve, were just figments of her imagination.

Yet she knew clearly, it wasn’t an illusion.

By almost noon, she couldn’t help but call Mr. Conley, "Uncle, there are some things I would still like to discuss with you alone, if possible?"

On the other end, Mr. Conley sighed heavily, agreed, and they arranged to meet at a restaurant in the city at noon.

Seeing Mr. Conley, Mabel felt an incredibly complex emotion. This person had always been a loving husband and father, cherishing his family and daughter. Yet, on the other hand, he was the cause and culprit of all the regrettable endings.

The rights and wrongs of that year were, in fact, hard to fathom. But one thing was certain: if Mr. Conley hadn’t "died" back then, the outcome might have been different. 𝒻𝑟𝘦𝘦𝘸ℯ𝒷𝑛𝘰𝓋ℯ𝘭.𝘤𝘰𝘮

After sitting down, Mr. Conley looked at Mabel and said, "You already know?"

Mabel nodded, "Yes, I know you were Kyle’s mother’s fiancé."

Guilt and self-blame flashed across Mr. Conley’s face, "Yes, I was Regina’s fiancé. Back then, she did not mind my being an orphan, and even though I was diagnosed with a serious illness, she did not abandon me. It’s ironic that I was the one who abandoned her first."

"Back then, you should have loved Kyle’s mother, right? She followed Kyle’s father to save you. Your feelings towards her..."
