Elder Kinston's Exclusive Sweet Wife-Chapter 886 - 922: Clearing Up Doubts
"Don’t say such unlucky things!" Dorian Howards slightly frowned, then thought for a moment and added, "Your arms are short, you might not be able to reach some dishes, so I helped you get some."
"..." Short arms? She doesn’t have that! Her height, her arm length is perfectly normal, okay! Alice Conley was quite speechless, telling Dorian Howards to go drink with Kyle Kinston and her dad, no need to busy himself picking dishes for her. The food in her bowl was enough to make her full.
The three men at the table started drinking, but compared to the casual chat between Dorian Howards and Kyle Kinston, Alice’s father hardly said a few words, mostly buried in eating and drinking.
When they were almost done eating, Kyle Kinston stood up and patted Alice’s father’s shoulder, "Uncle, do you have a cigarette? How about we go out for a smoke and get some fresh air?"
Alice’s father hadn’t had time to respond when Alice’s mother quickly said, "Yes, yes, we have cigarettes." Saying this, she rummaged out a pack of cigarettes and a lighter, handing them to Alice’s father and suggested, "You should accompany Mr. Kinston outside for some fresh air!"
"Well then, uncle, let’s go." Kyle Kinston smiled at Alice’s father.
Alice’s father had no choice but to get up and follow Kyle Kinston out of the house. They stopped in the passageway, where Alice’s father said, "Let’s smoke here, Mr. Kinston."
"Alright." Kyle Kinston nodded, taking the cigarette handed to him by Alice’s father, then slightly bent down to let Alice’s father light the cigarette for him.
Afterward, Alice’s father took a cigarette for himself and started smoking.
"These cigarettes aren’t of a great brand, you might find them laughable," Alice’s father said.
"They’re alright, these cigarettes cost around 20 bucks a pack, don’t they?" Kyle Kinston said, "Compared to some bad cigarettes I’ve smoked before, these are much better. Some cheap local brands can be really choking."
"Mr. Kinston, if you like smoking, I can get you some good cigarettes later," Alice’s father said, but the words sounded more like a cautious attempt to please.
"That’s unnecessary," Kyle Kinston said, "I only smoke occasionally, not a regular smoker, and can’t say I like it. It’s just that sometimes when I’m upset or confused, I want to smoke a cigarette to clear my head."
"Is... is that so?" Alice’s father said awkwardly.
"And now, I have a question in my mind. I wonder if uncle could help me resolve it," Kyle Kinston continued.
Alice’s father’s expression suddenly became a bit unnatural, laughing dryly a couple of times he said, "I don’t have any abilities, how can I help resolve questions."
"This particular question, only you can answer, uncle," Kyle Kinston stared at Alice’s father, speaking softly, "I’d really like to know why you’re so afraid of me."
Alice’s father’s face turned pale all of a sudden, his body trembling uncontrollably, yet he continued denying, "Mr. Kinston, you’re joking, why would I be... be afraid of you."
"Not afraid, really?" Kyle Kinston slightly leaned forward, moved closer to Alice’s father two steps, and suddenly, those phoenix eyes were almost at the same level as Alice’s father’s eyes.
Alice’s father’s face instantly became even paler. Those phoenix eyes... In his memories, there used to be a pair of phoenix eyes, very much like the ones before him now.
"Mr. Kinston, if you think I’m afraid of you, then... let’s just say I’m afraid," Alice’s father took a deep breath and said, now seemingly a lot calmer, "I’m just a common man, never interacted much with high officials, and I’m deeply afraid of saying the wrong things in front of you, so naturally I dare not say much and will be quite reserved."
