When the chamber opened revealing itself to be empty none of those present could believe what they saw. Hathaway was the first to enter, followed closely by Uriel whose curiosity had far overwhelmed any sense of danger he could feel.

"Do you know when was the last time this place was open?" Asked Uriel.

"It couldn't have been that long, my butler said..."

"Your butler? What happened to your family?" Asked Uriel.

"They all died when I was a child and I have no memories of them. My butler was the one who raised me." Hathaway replied.

"Then this answers the question as to what was trapped inside that place." Sam spoke knowingly.

"Then what the fuck is it?" Nika blurted out in exasperation. She didn't understand much of what was going on but she was just as invested as Uriel in finding out what happened to whatever was trapped inside, though the one who continued the explanation was Uriel.

"Although this is indeed a dungeon, it's likely to be just a small portion of it. It's not the entrance to anything and it's just the altar. It's been an ongoing theory for a while, but I think there's several structures with different purposes and all of them comprise a small portion of what a dungeon is supposed to be.

For instance, in Chichén Itzá there was a structure dedicated solely for defense and other for generating energy."

"So what does this do?" Hathaway asked his eyes completely devoid of emotion. fɾeeweɓnѳveɭ.com

"None of us present are engineers so it would be impossible for us to be sure, but..."

"It's a capacitor designed to focus all the energy from the outside directly into the chamber. What likely happened is that when the arrival took place it finally started working again and they were able to release the person inside of it." Uriel said looking Hathaway directly in the eye.

"Person? What person!? To my knowledge no one has ever come from inside this place, in fact, most people who came here died. Even my butler died when he accompanied me..." Hathaway spoke softly.

"Do you seriously not see it?" Nika asked unblinking as the truth behind the chamber was impossibly to ignore for everyone, yet she couldn't muster the courage to break Hathaway's heart and that duty fell upon Luna's shoulders.

"This place is called Saint Michael's cave and you are called Michael. You claim your family opened this chamber around the time of the arrival, which according to Uriel is probably when this structure started working again.

You also said you were brought here every year and if this place's purpose is truly to condense flux energy into a single entity, then it's only obvious to assume that entity is none other than you."

Hathaway scanned the room looking for anyone who would disagree but what he found instead were looks of pity in their eyes.

"When Jon opened the gates of Atlantis several things happened. First, the island regained consciousness, then he began fighting against cryptids and gained a trait, but so many people died he absorbed part of the energy and became a holy rank hunter.

But that wasn't all, since so many cryptids died and probably had their flux orbs crushed, part of their essence was drawn to this place repairing it which explains why it worked properly without us needing to crush any flux orbs." Uriel explained.

"But what about the chamber opening in the past, they didn't have the key and..." Hathaway tried to rebuke but was cut short by Luna.

"Mermans were attempting to get rid of all people in this peninsula, but they never ventured further inland which is why the town to the north has been safe all these years. The easiest explanation is that after your family who owned this cave and likely the fishing spear too, opened it as soon as it started working and you came out of this chamber at the cost of their lives.

Then the butler picked you up and made sure you carried on the legacy of your family, which means they weren't actually your real family and you are... I don't know what you are." Luna finished with reluctance as Hathaway's appearance didn't matched what she thought an angel should look like.

"An angel maybe?" Nika said.

"Not likely, I've been told by an angel himself that humans can become angels." Uriel explained without realizing that him speaking with an angel before made Hathaway move past the idea of killing him to protect the secret of his family.

"It would make sense, in mythology angels are known to be messengers of god which would point to them being chosen." Luna explained.

"Why would I be chosen? There's nothing special about me." Mike Hathaway said.

"I think I have the answer," Said Mark prompting everyone to look at him with shock since they had already forgotten he was even present. Realizing all the attention was on him, Mark started sweating buckets, but somehow mustered the courage to continue speaking. "at least part of it. You see, there's an angel trapped beneath our city and that is why we couldn't afford to lose it.

My marriage with Tina was just for legal purposes, since that allowed us to put our resources together and present a better case to convince Hollywood's governor to give us a hand."

"If there's an angel, why didn't it help us in the fight? Even Mister Scofield and Jon participated, everyone did their best." Nika asked to which Sam replied.

"Because, the angel trapped beneath the city is very particular. You see, most angels refused to help humans during the arrival saying it was something that was bound to happen at some point and they weren't allowed to intervene. However, one of them fell in love with a human and decided to fight for them, but she was betrayed and now they think she will destroy the world if she's set free."

"How do you know this?" Uriel glared at Sam.

"Because, she was my mother, Lucifer."
