In other times climbing the hard surface of the plateau called the enchanted rock without gear may have been considered a challenge, maybe even dangerous. But that didn't hold true when the ones doing the climbing were two hunters and a hybrid from one of the most powerful lineages known to the council.

"Are you sure you can climb on your own?" Asked Uriel once they stood up in front of the rocky wall.

"Watch me." Medusa giggled and began climbing as though her voluntary blindness was no handicap at all.

Uriel watched her graceful movements as she softly caressed the surface of the rock seeking for a foothold, only to swing her shapely figure honed by years of martial arts in a swift movement and then repeat the process. Her movements nimble to the point where Uriel needed to rush in order to match her speed until they reached an old uphill trail where they waited for Kalos to arrive.

"That was incredible." Uriel mentioned, knowing full well he wouldn't be able to do the same without sight.

"I thought it was a myth, but my other senses are becoming sharper. By simply touching the rock I could feel if it was sturdy enough to support my weight. It's the same with my hearing and my sense of smell, but I know I'll never be on Luna's level."

"I'm not so sure..." Uriel said taking a long look at Medusa. Because of their closeness, Uriel had failed to notice just how much her body changed in the time they've known each other. He could barely remember the first time he saw her, though he did remember it wasn't precisely her face what drew his attention.

When they first met, Medusa was trying hard to stay off the Mapple corporation's radar, hence she changed her style to the complete opposite of the usual which made it difficult for anyone who knew her to recognize her, but that wasn't all. When she acquired her trait her already outstanding appearance shifted for the better, filling her body in the right places and making her taller.

Little by little, her body continued shifting until she became a heavenly rank and turned into a beautiful woman of remarkable beauty as happened to most hunters.

This was nothing out of the ordinary, only now that Uriel knew about hybrids he realized that her appearance stood out not just because of her alluring curves and beautiful face.

Other than her eyes, her body looked to be of a human, but her height and proportions hinted that she could turn into something else, something different than a human but at the same time, it was impossible to compare her to anything inhuman, except for one dreadful option.

"Medusa..." Uriel addressed her, only to notice the bright red color in her cheeks.

"Yes?" Her bashfulness abruptly cut short by Kalos grunting as he let his upper half fall on the ledge of the cliff he just climbed.

"You could have at least given me a hand." He breathed heavily, earning himself a cold glare from Uriel who then turned to Medusa.

"It's nothing, let's keep moving."

On their way atop the plateau they followed an old trail and encountered a couple buildings in various states of decay, though they seemed unspoiled and yet Uriel didn't even attempt to convince them to scavenge them like usual.

"There's something you're not telling us." Medusa declared.

"Yes." Uriel replied and continued on his way as he watched the count go down.

[15h16m47s]

Every passing second made Uriel want to rush his steps and find out whether his theory was correct or not, but at the same time he knew he needed to go slow in order to spot any clues or words in the ancient language hidden somewhere.

"Can you at least tell us what is so important about this place?" Medusa asked, breathing out of her nose in annoyance.

"I think I know, but... if the rumors are true..." Kalos stuttered.

"They probably are, in fact, I'm betting that they are. You see, the first time we entered the dungeon my group went to the first world, which leads me to believe that the relic tied to the first world must be the Comanche headdress."

"That must mean that the one tied to the third world is the strange hatchet uncle Jon found beneath the cathedral." Medusa nodded.

"That's correct. That only leaves the buckskin tribalwear found by the army, can you guess where they found it?" Uriel asked.

"But the army... those who survived were traumatized!"

"Did you see the size of those spiders!? Of course they were traumatized, but we're not here to hunt cryptids left and right, we just need to get there, find the entrance and be done with it."

"If what you say is true, then... does it mean we'll appear in the second world? Shouldn't we look for the secret entrance to the third world?"

"Hmm," Uriel tried to find the words to explain his reasoning before speaking. "The problem with that is the cathedral will most likely be guarded."

"And since when has that ever stopped you from face checking into enemy lines? Just to be clear, I'm glad that you're taking a more cautious way, but it seems odd coming from you. You're always taking the high risk high reward path..."

"That's because we can't defeat them in a fight. It's difficult to admit, but we simply can't. They're not just more powerful than us, they can use their traits in ways I've never seen before. Confronting them is even riskier than what we're trying to pull here."

Medusa seemed to want to continue the conversation, but the day went on with them walking up the mountain without finding any kind of clue of a possible entrance to the dungeon. Hours passed and Uriel became more desperate as the countdown kept going on without being able to do anything to stop it, each second making the loss of his revolver more likely.

By the time the sun began to set, Uriel had already lost all hope and summoned his revolver just to feel its weight. It was his first finding and although its cultural value was only incidental to a small portion of the weapon industry, its true value as a weapon was boundless to Uriel who had been saved by the Magnum revolver more times than he could count.

Thankfully, the bet started counting twenty four hours from the minute the system notice appeared, which meant he still had a couple hours to spend with his beloved artifact.

"I'll take a walk." Uriel said as he stood up from his spot in the recently made campfire.

"Do I need to go?" Medusa reluctantly asked with a mouthful of instant noodles.

"Don't worry, just finish your meal. I don't think I'll be able to find any clues during night time, but I'll try to hunt a couple beast rank cryptids to not feel this entire trip was a waste of time."

As Uriel disappeared from sight, Kalos realized that the opportunity he'd been waiting for so long finally came to reality and he cleared his throat before speaking.

"You know..."

"Don't even think about it, you scum." Medusa spoke in a tone of voice entirely different to the one she used whenever she was near Uriel leaving absolutely no doubt that she wasn't interested in anything he had to say.

The night progressed without any incidents or encounters of any kind until Uriel came back to the camp without having fired a single shot.

"Grab your lanterns, we need to move!"

"Where's the enemy!?" Medusa rushed in to place a hand on her blindfold.

"That's not it! I didn't see a single cryptid nearby, not one!" Uriel said with a smile that couldn't possibly convey his excitement.

"Don't scare me then!" Medusa pouted.

"You don't get it, this entire plateau is sacred, this means we must be close to the entrance, we just need to find it!"

"I don't think I can be of much help..." Medusa pointed at her blindfold.

"Nonsense! When I was crossing through the dark passage in the first world I remember the smell shifted at some point, perhaps you can do the same here."

The group scattered into the vast plateau trying to find any sort of clue. They moved through bushes, walked up and down and even checked some of the old buildings except for Medusa who stuck to wander around focusing on her senses.

[3h03m12s]

The perfect description of Uriel's situation would be a race against time. There were no enemies, no obstacles, just the open sky and the dark corners of a seemingly common granite formation

[2h45m9s]

Uriel's desperate grumbling could be heard by both Kalos and Medusa who more than once mistook the gnarly sounds with those of a cryptid.

[1h30m12s]

"Fuck!" Uriel let out in a long scream without caring if cryptids heard him.

"This is bad..." Medusa knew him well and swearing was uncharacteristic of the usually calm and composed Uriel. Although she didn't know what triggered it, she knew there must be a reason why he acted that way and she doubled her efforts determined to find whatever Uriel was looking for.
