Dungeon Raider System-Chapter 209: Rainbow walkers Part 2
Walking on top of the rainbow was just as strange as it sounded. Something that should have been nothing but an illusion created by the refraction of light but was solid instead gave off a strange feeling of uneasiness.
Uriel tried and failed to understand the nature of the colorful bridge and he wished he had an engineer on his party that could share an explanation to some of the strange phenomenons that came to happen during their exploration.
However, he was aware of the fact that their current knowledge in physics didn’t apply to dungeons and it led him to the conclusion that it wasn’t for nothing that the ancient people had far better technology.
"Uhm, Uriel, what else can we expect?" Luna broke the silence.
"This rainbow bridges are supposedly the way humans followed on their way to escape from the first world, but after death their souls return through this very path and we may see some ghosts."

"Oh! Lord save me!" Nika started crossing herself over and over, just like every time the afterlife or ghosts were mentioned.
"Don’t be afraid, if ghosts exist I bet they drop flux orbs," Luna patted Nika on the back trying to comfort her. "Anything else we should be on the lookout for?"
"I’m afraid this is as far as my mythology knowledge can go. I do remember Crockett’s diary mentioning something about a being trapped in here, something far more dangerous than he ever imagined," Uriel said the last part in a dismissive tone of voice but everyone paled so he continued. "I think it’s already been unleashed, in fact, I believe we already met her."
"Her?" Sam asked fearing it was his cryptid wife.
"The statue of the lady we saw at the bottom of the cathedral. It’s an horror level cryptid after all." He explained, though they didn’t look relieved.
The rest of the trip across the rainbow bridge was made in silence and when they reached the other end they saw countless beast and monster rank cryptids in the process of vanishing and right at the center, there were three disheveled hunters sitting back to back.
"Medusa, you’re safe!" Sam exclaimed as he darted towards her and grabbed her hands showing how worried he was about his friend.
"Hold your horses! You’re a married man now." Nika chuckled.
"Married? What is she talking about?" Medusa asked.
Instead of replying, Uriel sat down next to her and started making a camp and boil some water to prepare their instant meals while taking the chance to catch up to each other’s adventures.
Uriel recounted the facts in a brief and to the point manner, while Medusa gave a detailed story as colorful as the rainbows on that world.
She told them how they survived until that point and the cryptids they saw in full detail, something Luna greatly appreciated. After arriving to that place Medusa, Jon and Seiren spent all the time trying to clear the cryptids from that rainbow so it would be easier for the rest of the expedition once they arrived.
"At first, uncle Jon didn’t want me to fight and tried to kill all the creatures by himself, but he was having a lot of trouble dealing with those pesky Iron butterflies." She giggled.
"Hey! Don’t go telling others I had trouble, they were just annoying. Besides, I couldn’t activate my trait without hurting you." Jon butted in, greatly offended by her choice of words but Medusa continued speaking without paying any mind to his feelings.
"But you know me, I couldn’t stay idle and let others do all the fighting. Luckily, my trait is super helpful against those butterflies because once they fall from the bridge, they never come back."
"Did you just get here? Why are there so many beasts around?" Uriel asked trying to make sense of things because it looked like they had just finished fighting.
"Cryptids keep spawning here so we thought it’d be safer if we keep controlling the situation."
"They... spawn?" Luna’s eyes glimmered in excitement.

"Kind of, we don’t know where do they come from but not matter how many times we kill them, they keep coming!"
In the meantime, Sam climbed atop a small hill nearby to explore the area. Although his trait allowed him to see as far or as wide as he wanted, he needed time to adjust his field of view. Because of that, by the time he came back to the campfire Medusa had already eaten his share of Cheeky chicken noodles.
"Ow! Again!? Why do you always eat my share of food?" Sam pouted.
"I don’t apologize to cheater." Medusa scoffed.
"How does it look, Sam?"
"I got good news and bad news. This world is comprised of floating islands connected through rainbows but this seems to be the biggest one. It’s incredibly large compared to the rest but that’s not all." Sam continued his explanation. The island they were currently at was called the main island because of its size, but it wasn’t a platform but a ring.
In fact, it was built as three concentric rings that lead to a small island in the middle where they guessed the exit was located. "That’s the good news."
"Let me guess the bad ones, there’s a lot of enemies." Nika sighed and Sam nodded in reply.
Now that the three factions were together again, they made a plan to take the shortest way towards the cave but let Jon go on a separate way since he didn’t want to be unable to use his trait again. This caused Medusa to go back into Uriel’s party and much to everyone’s surprise, Shaker also joined them.
"Lieutenant Shaker, I think you’re in the wrong group." Ethan said with his customary hypocritical smile.
"With all due respect, Colonel, I’m right where I want to be. Judging by how few of the soldiers under your command survived this long, I think I’d rather take my chances facing a court martial."
"Colonel, allow me to teach him some manners." Frostbite took a step forward, something he wouldn’t usually do but he knew Shaker’s trait and he was confident he could defeat him in a one on one battle.
Shaker briefly gazed towards Uriel as though expecting him to defend him, but he didn’t say a word which greatly affected the lieutenant. Just by looking him in the eye, he knew Uriel didn’t trust him, not even after sacrificing himself to save them from the nosferatu, though Medusa’s case was different.
"As per our agreement, you can’t take any hostile actions towards any member of another faction. If you have any problem with that you can settle the matters once we’re outside." She said with her ’Works’ family overbearing tone of voice and Ethan had no choice but to back off, for now.
