Zafira dropped back down to a branch. Her golden eyes glowing bright as her arms dropped without power, a mysterious ache throbbed in her chest when she thought of Leonhardt.

"Why do I feel so uneasy...?"

A subtle crack sounded as time resumed its flow.

The noise of battle returned, causing her brows to furrow... with Asuka and Erina taking on powerful orcs in duels, while Sylvie fought against the main forces with her ice magic.

"Lizard, submit!"

A crackle of lightning wrapped around the Orc chief, arcing from his palm and lancing towards Asuka like a whip.

"Fuck off, you ugly pig! Roaring Flame!"

Asuka’s right arm swelled as she forced mana inside using the full force of Leonhardt’s gift, her eyes became sharp with slit pupils.

Her mouth opened, and a wave of blue fire came out, bathing her weapon. With a roar, she slashed the giant sword in a cross; a wave of hot air melted the lightning before smashing into the Orc Chief’s body and causing an explosion of blue fire.

"Don’t you dare!" She followed up after seeing the Orc grabbing the beads at his neck because the beads gave off an eerie feeling.

She raised her blade and cut through the air, aiming to cleave him in half. "Die!"

The Orc Chief’s eyes glowed red as he roared. His hand gripped the necklace before tearing it apart. The beads shattered on the floor, creating a black mist that consumed Asuka’s blade, which should have split him in half.

"What is that!?"

Asuka pulled back, but the Orc’s club was already about to hit her head. ’Shit!’ She cursed, knowing that this impact would be too dangerous to tank, because it could kill her.

The filthy scent of Orc lingered as she lifted her boot and kicked out. "I won’t fall!"

"Hahaha!" The Orc Chief growled as he swung down, their powers erupting like a volcano.

Her boot smashed into the edge of his stone club, the force of it sending a shockwave outwards as Asuka’s body hurtled back, crashing through a tree.

The dark elves panicked as Asuka’s body rolled in the dirt, her blade impaled near the Orc, who coughed up blue blood.

’That hurt...’ Asuka coughed twice, struggling to her feet, rubbing her tongue along her gums as the familiar sweet taste of iron spread through her mouth. "You’re pretty strong, Orc."

Her arms were shaking; her bones ached, and her legs felt weak.

"It’s been a long time since I’ve fought such a powerful female... what a shame."

"What’s the shame?" Asuka’s voice became low, her face scowling at the Orc as she picked up her greatsword.

"That your body is covered in another male’s scent."

The Orc showed a disgusted expression, his pig nose turned up.

Asuka paused as she realised what he was talking about, her golden eyes enlarging before narrowing. She gripped her sword while letting the mana in her abdomen gather. ’This pig is disgusting...’

A blue flame swelled around her body, and the air shimmered like a mirage.

"How dare you covet this body?

Everything from the tip of my toes to the split ends of my hair is his!"

With each word, Asuka’s flame became stronger, swelling with a crackle then condensing into a light blue aura that wrapped her limbs, cracking the ground and burning the air itself.

The dark elves surrounding them stepped back; even Sylvie paused as she felt the massive change in the dragonoid’s mana. It eventually reached the point where she could no longer control it, and the sheer heat caused the ice around her to melt slightly.

’Ah, this is the feeling.’ Asuka’s eyes shone with glee.

This form was how she trained with Leo.

To match his strength and the difference in their current abilities, she needed to take this form.

’He called it my Awakened Form... such a lame name, but he gave it to me.’

Her red kimono began to burn, her horns grew out from her head, and her face became scaly as they swelled around her neck.

’How dare this Orc claim that he could have a part of this body...’

The arrogance to even complain about Leo’s scent triggered the dragonoid, "I was going to enjoy this, but now you have to die."

The Orc continued mocking her, laughing to himself.

Their levels weren’t close; he was seven levels above her.

Monsters, unlike humans, could inherently sense these differences, and so when she acted arrogant and fought back, the Orc just took it as his prey acting cute.

She held her blade parallel to her face, pointed towards the sky, blue flames twirling in three tendrils around it. Her lips moved, uttering words that sent shivers down the dark elves’ spines:

"Dance of The Red Dragon!"

A bright flash of blue filled their eyes, followed by a brilliant explosion.

Asuka vanished from sight, using the condensed mana to increase her speed to its limit, tearing her muscles and stretching her ligaments; she didn’t feel any pain.

’Leo can do this for hours. How did he do it?’

She avoided the Orc’s attack, slicing his right arm off.

The Orc’s body was like an empty shell compared to him, as her blade swung in seven rapid arcs. With each slash, she stepped in a different direction, twisting, thrusting, and slashing. Asuka followed a set routine that she had performed repeatedly in her training.

Asuka knew it by heart and was confident in its power.

After the last slash, she gathered flame in her lips and unleashed a torrent of fire directly into the Orc’s face, sending him hurtling into a tree. The impact shook the world, and the flames engulfed his entire body.

Asuka snapped her head back and spat a final ball of flame at the Orc, so intense it burned the trees around the orc chief into ash, while the monster himself, without arms or legs, drooped against the charred forest.

"You bitch!"

With a roar of anger, the orc chief’s body swelled with muscles.

However, Asuka didn’t stop.

She lunged at him, piercing his chest in one strike and pulling her blade back just as quickly.

"What did you do?"

"It is over."

The Orc didn’t even realise she penetrated his heart, blood oozing from his lips before he fell over, silent and lifeless.

Asuka’s body shook, steam rising from her flesh as she took a deep breath. "That was good!" She turned to Sylvie with an expression of ecstasy.

"Ice Maiden, we’ll protect you!"

The Dark Elves surrounded Sylvie as they fought back.

"I’m fine; focus on yourself." She closed her eyes and focused on her mana, feeling it through her veins and muscles. Though her amount almost tripled since the day she awakened, Leon taught her not to abuse it.

Sylvie always tried to focus herself and use the smallest amount of mana to cast spells, sometimes failing, but now. Thanks to those tests, the dark elves fought beside her with their ice-elemental enchants.

’I must focus.’

The Dark Elves typically fought against the Orcs with bows and arrows, using their skills and acrobatic movements to dodge them without issue.

However, for the dark elves that Sylvie led, they wore special boots that could skate across the ice she created, with sharp, glacial blades that dealt elemental damage and could pierce most armour.

Sylvie watched their movements with admiration, ’They are truly skilled in what they do.’ It was a dance of blades, but she didn’t have time to watch and relax.

With a subtle movement of her hands, her mana began to move. She clenched around the air, forming five small claws of ice that grabbed several Orcs’ legs, holding them in place.

The Dark Elves didn’t waste a chance as they cut down the helpless Orcs, leaving only their corpses on the ground.

Thanks to the training over the past month, this was how she learned to use her power, rather than aiming to become like Asuka or Leonhardt, Sylvie practised control and mana manipulation.

The ability to lead her mana through each limb and control them separately, and release it with her will. Even her ice had changed, from the dark blue frost of before, it now had an ebony colour that shone as if polished by the finest craftsman.

Sylvie didn’t know that even Zafira found her ability impressive, perhaps because Leonheart had told the people around her to avoid compliments until she reached a limit or wall.

"Blizzard!"

Using her strongest area of effect spell, shards of sharp ice rained down, culling the orcs faster, while she paid attention to the blond hair fluttering in the distance.

’Can Erina win her fight?’

The two women adored Erina and worried most about her changes.
