Duality of Shadows-Chapter 1014: Rebirth Of The Chaos
Suddenly, Alm and Bruno felt one of their seeds being reborn. They were sure all universes had been destroyed before. Their trees were the first things to turn to dust — how did this come back?
They quickly summoned Meru and Ruri and asked about the universes with the trees they had destroyed. Ruri immediately remembered something.
"There was one place that was different from the others. When I got there, that tree was kind of injured... I took a look and saw a bunch of dead cultivators after some big battle. I thought they’d just killed each other and damaged the tree. So I did what master ordered, finished the job, and left..."
The whale nodded. That had to be it. Did someone manage to understand the tree well enough to remove its essence and create a new seed? The two wasted no time.
[Upgrade Points: 5000]
[Celestial Points: 4000]
[Akashic Records] [500 Upgrade Points]
[Consult using points?] [Yes / No]
’Yes,’ they immediately agreed. After years of work in the universes, Celestial Conversion had earned them plenty of points, and they could spend them freely.
[Searching...]
They clearly sensed where the seed had awakened and which soul was connected to it. He had reincarnated in a smaller universe without heroes, one that had existed before. Their eyes gleamed. Then they turned to Ruri and Meru, who were staring back, curious and excited.
They nodded and shared several heavenly runes with them, revealing the memories of that young man’s lives. The three read everything...
"Shit... sorry, master. I should’ve seen that and killed him," Ruri said flatly, disgust on her face.
Alm and Bruno scoffed. A young man born in the universe of the tree had actually ascended and absorbed its power. Seeing the sinister karma of his universe, he knew the worst was coming. Anticipating it, he managed to create a seed.
He left the seed inside a spatial ring with a spirit ally inside. Then he launched the ring into a nearby region of the universes, which existed now after the changes to the underworld. It was a relatively safe area but had unstable spatial laws that ended up flinging the ring away randomly.
The young man killed himself and naturally reincarnated far from there. In this new life, even without memories, he ascended to the peak of cultivation in that place... only to then act like a complete brainless idiot.
After a battle against invaders in the outer region of his universe, he found the ring that fate had randomly brought back. Using a bit of the energy inside it, he killed the invaders.
Then, he just went back to his so-called "hidden" planet and got married. Naturally, greed took over others. Even people the young man trusted betrayed him and revealed his home’s location. Long story short: he died, and his planet too.
Or almost. The spirit left in the ring used the remaining power to save part of the planet and his soul, creating a small world inside the ring. That way, he reincarnated there, this time with the memories of his past life, and the seed connected to him, awakening his powers again.
His soul instinctively knew how to use that power, and he quickly became a god among mortals. He ascended to the higher realms of that universe, leaving a bloodbath in his wake for revenge.
But...
"Well, that’s a pretty common and cliché story, kinda predictable..." Meru tried to argue.
"Common? That bastard used the tree’s power to seduce tons of women. He dared to stain master’s divine technique to build a harem?" Ruri retorted furiously and turned to the whale. "Master, let me fix the mess I made. I’ll make him regret using those women."
Alm and Bruno sighed. "No need. He’s actually talented and managed to do something no one else did. Even though the foundation of his power is something I created, he developed other parts on his own. He’s basically a near-Divine Dao now."
Ruri went silent, her gaze cold. Bruno added, "He’s not very smart, but most young people are kinda dumb... And also, the power of the gates is something even I don’t fully understand. Since he started from scratch with that abnormal power, I don’t think he intentionally created a harem..."
He saw Ruri’s face contort with disgust and loathing. Bruno continued quickly:
"Okay, based on the memories, he clearly didn’t care and even helped a bit. But don’t be too harsh. Didn’t you see that half-elf? She seems decent and kinda like you, don’t you think?"
Ruri scoffed but begrudgingly agreed. "Riria... Well, she should’ve put him in his place, but master’s supreme power must’ve clouded her vision, making her think that bastard was amazing. Damn... now I wanna kill him even more... but she’s not bad."
"Great, bring them here. If you make that half-elf your disciple and train her well, maybe she’ll fix the problem. But... don’t force anything. Remember that this Lian is technically a half-disciple of mine." The whale spoke casually, and Ruri’s eyes lit up.
That made Bruno feel bad for poor Lian, but if he was crazy enough to deal with that many women, he’d have to handle the consequences.
Not long after, Ruri returned, emanating a cold, bloodthirsty aura that she struggled to hide. Beside Lian, there were nine women... that idiot really didn’t know how to hold back.

However, those women seemed incredibly loyal to him and showed an abnormal determination. They had kept up with Lian’s cultivation and developed their own powers by themselves, all so they wouldn’t become a burden by being much weaker than him.
Having someone so ridiculously powerful made them desperately seek more strength. Since they refused to be helpless damsels under his protection, that calmed Ruri down a bit. At least he knew how to pick women… though she still wanted to kill him for using the tree’s power to influence them.
Lian was visibly tense. He never imagined that his chaos tree and his internal universe had such an extreme and grand origin. "I… sir… I’m Lian Albedo..."
The whale observed him calmly. "I already know everything about you. I’ve read your three lives completely. You were one of my successful experiments… I’m a bit proud. In your universe, there are billions of weak people living peacefully under your protection. That’s very similar to what I did and envisioned."
Upon hearing that, Ruri was also surprised but then let out a heavy sigh. Deep down, he wasn’t that bad. Still, he deserved a beating until he got some sense.
The whale explained everything to Lian and his women. Then, it analyzed his internal world and observed seven elementals, seven gates… and was surprised to see that the chaos seed had developed a consciousness and a soul, which, under Lian’s influence, had become yet another woman.
"You son of a bitch! You didn’t touch her, right?!" Ruri roared, and Lian’s face tensed, but he didn’t deny it.
The whale sighed. There were ten in total. Even the damn tree growing inside him... this had become embarrassing to a ridiculous level. Even Bruno was speechless.
Before Ruri lost it, the whale had Meru drag her away along with the women. There were plenty of things in the city for them to study and cultivate.
Then, they analyzed Lian’s power with the gates open. They clearly sensed the 777 celestial energies still alive inside him. They also saw a thousand-petaled lotus spinning softly as an ethereal manifestation.
In the end, Alm and Bruno’s bet had paid off. They learned a lot about the gates and their powers from the perspective of someone who had cultivated as a mortal and studied them slowly.
Sometimes, a different perspective based on distinct experiences was extremely valuable. They ended up increasing their understanding and the potential of the power they could unleash in the future.
Moreover, Lian possessed immense potential. If he cultivated to the same level as the others, his power would surpass that of their generals, making him very useful in battles. His women also had an easy time reaching the immortal level due to their Dao Hearts.
A million years later, all of them had become immortals. The whale taught Lian about every aspect of this new stage and cultivation.
At that moment, Lian stated that he could create a bit of Immortal Chaos Fragment within his tree, allowing him and his women to cultivate in the immortal realms independently.
Alm and Bruno granted Lian a primitive universe where he could develop and create his army without relying on the whale for resources. Although Lian didn’t produce even 1% of what Alm and Bruno did, it was enough to sustain his army, which didn’t need even 5% of the resources the whale required.
In the end, Lian had become self-sufficient, with the potential to even provide resources to others and offer more help in the future.

The last ten million years passed...
The whale moved to the underworld and finally felt the heavenly laws stabilizing slightly.
Everything had changed completely thanks to its actions. The underworld had practically ceased to exist, and the universes became independent and unique worlds. And that was still just the beginning, as the laws were still adjusting.
Until, suddenly, Alm and Bruno felt a distant gaze. It was the queen, also using her celestial soul to observe the changes, just like them.
It lasted only a second. As soon as she sensed them, she tried to hide but then stopped.
The two sensed a unique fluctuation at a distant point, clearly a primordial chaos item. Suddenly, the item disappeared within a universe.
Alm and Bruno snorted and focused on that universe... and their eyes widened.
That universe had no Qi or even remotely powerful laws. It was a completely mortal world that barely had any life. But... they knew very well a small blue planet that existed within it.
That place was precisely where Earth was.
