Drama Queen Reborn as a Top Student!-Chapter 736 - 315 Judgment from the Heavenly Dao (Second Release)
Yu Hai warily observed the surroundings, until a signal came through the earpiece.
An anchor rope was thrown upward from the tenth-floor window, the anchor claw securely gripping the wall. A shadow broke through the window, grabbed the rope, and fixed the main line using the figure-eight attachment on their waist—a series of movements completed in mere moments.
He gripped the main rope with his right hand while pulling a person out of the window with his left. That person hung limp, their limbs dangling naturally under the weight of gravity.
The shadow held the main rope with one hand and the person with the other, descending swiftly like a feather in the night.
Yu Hai watched the two descending rapidly from above, and his previously suspended heart finally settled.
Lei Jian landed on his feet, and Yu Hai quickly took the unconscious man from him. In the darkness, he took a quick glance.
"Is he...?"
"Passed out, no problem."
Lei Jian untied the rope and said without looking up, "The people from Huacai City will soon react and chase us. We need to leave immediately."
Wang Zhen, having received the signal, exited Huacai City and met up with Lei Jian and Yu Hai.
Yu Hai frowned and asked, "Where’s Xiao Jiang?"
Wang Zhen shook his head. "He went to the ninth floor with Mr. Lei; I don’t know the rest."
At the gate of Huacai City, more and more people dressed in black arrived.
"There’s no time; we must retreat. Xiao Jiang is quick-witted; he’ll be fine. Let’s go first."
As soon as Lei Jian finished speaking, he hoisted the unconscious Yu Fuce on his back and retreated along the predetermined route.
Yu Hai turned back to glance at the ornate, palace-like Huacai City glowing in the night, then looked at Lei Jian moving quickly through the darkness. Something felt off to him.
But under the current circumstances, there was no time to think about it. Together with Wang Zhen, he stayed behind to deter the pursuit from Huacai City.
At the street corner, a black van was parked.
The van door slid open, revealing Hu Lin’s excited face: "Mr. Lei, over here."
The four of them climbed into the van, which sped off into the distance.
Within ten minutes, the entire city was on lockdown. Black-clad patrols were everywhere, and passing cars were subject to strict inspections.
Hu Lin grew tense again. "We’re not going to be stuck in Siland, are we?"
The driver, one of Bob’s trusted men, grinned toothily. "Relax. The boss has already made arrangements."
At the highway entrance leading to the airport, black-clad personnel stopped them for inspection.
The driver lowered the window halfway and handed over an envelope.
The black-clad officer took the envelope with suspicion, opened it, glanced inside, and, without emotion, pocketed the contents and waved the van through.
Hu Lin asked curiously, "What was in the envelope?"
The driver hummed a tune. "Guess."
Yu Hai lowered his voice and said, "As the saying goes, money makes the devil turn millstones."
Hu Lin pouted. "You White Gloves sure have a lot of tricks up your sleeve, even able to bribe people from Huacai City."
"That’s your limited vision speaking."
Hu Lin puffed up his cheeks in indignation.
Lei Jian stared silently out the window at the passing scenery. Yu Hai glanced at him with concern, and this mood persisted until they boarded the plane.
"Still worried about Jiang Ming?"
Lei Jian remained silent.
"That kid’s sharp—he’s bound to navigate through danger. Besides, didn’t you already tell Bob to lend Jiang Ming a hand if the opportunity arises? Relax, he’ll be fine."
"You’ve figured out that person’s identity, haven’t you?"
Yu Hai nodded silently.
The two brothers looked so similar; it was impossible not to recognize them.
Lei Jian’s gaze deepened. "Many years ago, when that person was still alive, the Azure Dragon Assault Team existed to protect the people and the country. Every team member considered it an honor to die a righteous death. But somewhere along the line, it degraded—it became an accomplice, a butcher’s knife..."
Yu Hai glanced nervously around and lowered his voice. "Are you insane? As the captain, how can you say such treacherous things?"
Lei Jian tugged at the corner of his mouth, giving Yu Hai a mocking look. "Treacherous?"
Yu Hai was startled by the anguish in his eyes. "Old Lei, what’s gotten into you?"
Lei Jian responded calmly, "I’ve simply come to understand some things."
With that, he said no more, closing his eyes as if to sleep.
In his mind, the image of a girl’s breathtakingly beautiful but icy face emerged. Her vibrant eyes quietly stared at him, like judgment from the Heavenly Dao.
"Together, we’ll seek justice for the wrongfully dead, bring order to this chaotic world, and give everyone a black-and-white, peaceful new reality."
Every word was heartfelt; every phrase reverberated like thunder.
Lei Jian could hear the sound of his blood boiling, the cry of his soul’s defiance.
Reason told him that he owed allegiance to the Yu family. Any person or matter that threatened them must be eradicated; such was the duty he bore as captain of the Azure Dragon Assault Team.
But deep within his soul, another voice whispered: The Yu family, in its greed for power, had committed countless sins over the years. For every splendid surface of their dominance, hidden beneath lay countless innocent spirits, unable to find justice.
