Dragon Necromancer: Starting With First Dragon Bloodline-Chapter 34: Potential Friends
Marlo was one of Noa’s roommates.
He didn’t want that.
The situation was that simple—the guy was weird and overly talkative.
Even though Noa wanted to get to know his fellow students, he wasn’t so desperate to be friends with someone who didn’t leave a good first impression.
The short boy noticed his lack of enthusiasm and howled.
"Come on, man! I promise I am excellent roommate material. I don’t snore, I don’t have friends to bring over, and the only times I am talking in my sleep are when I am dreaming about girls."
Noa brushed past him.
He sighed and unlocked the door, whispering on the way,
"And it happens pretty often, right?" he guessed, eyeing him. "I mean, girls showing up in your dreams?"
Without a hint of hesitation, Marlo smirked and nodded proudly, "Bingo!"
Not knowing how to react, Noa finally opened the door and stepped inside, hoping the room would at least be comfortable and his new roommates somewhat sane.
"Hey!" the boy called out and chased him. "Don’t you dare ignore your roommate again!"
In size, the room looked modest.
It had four beds and four desks, with a single window illuminating white walls.
The smell was fresh—like everything was newly washed.
Two more boys were already present.
One was unpacking eagerly, clearly excited about being accepted to the academy. He was tall, with a long braid reaching down to his back.
The other looked lazy. Lounging on his bed with boots still on, he eyed the newcomers.
"Hello, my good friends," Marlo announced, striding into the room without hesitation. "And congrats for being here."
The tall boy offered him a handshake. "My name is Kael," he said and pointed to the lazy guy. "And this shitface is Lior. I hope we will get along."
He also extended his hand to Noa.
The latter shook it firmly, nodding his head before taking the bed closest to the window.
"I am Noa. And this shitface is Marlo. You don’t have to get along with him," he said with full seriousness, and looked out of the building.
The academy’s shimmering old towers created a great view.
When fresh and cold air touched his skin, it sent chills down his spine, somehow comforting his heart.
"I am not a shitface, okay! And I wanted that bed!" Marlo tried to argue, but it was too late.
Kael chuckled at their interaction.
Lior remained seated, glancing occasionally at his roommates but making no effort to join the conversation.
After the introduction, it was time for deeper talks.
Noa was ready for it, and he wasn’t surprised when the tall boy reached this subject.
"You are the one who took first place, right? A guy with Graveworm?" he asked, not holding back.
Hearing this question, even Lior showed interest. He straightened his posture and observed Noa with interest, his dark eyes widening in curiosity.
"Yep," Noa agreed, nodding. "That’s me. Quite an impression I made on the first day, huh?"
Silence settled for a moment.
Even now, Noa looked unaffected by what happened.
People mocked him. They insulted him for daring to come here and acting like a hotshot.
Still, he cared about none of them.
That’s why, deep down, Marlo respected his attitude and had vowed to befriend Noa.
He thought that Noa might have something up his sleeve, and if that wasn’t the case, it might be even more interesting for him to be close to someone so interesting.
Reading Kael and Lior’s reactions wasn’t easy.
One of them had been smiling the entire time, showing only his white teeth, despite noticing how serious the atmosphere had become.
The other one was idly looking at the walls.
Yes, he wanted to know more, but his expression said that he didn’t really care about others.
"Your life’s gonna be tough here," Kael said finally, still smiling. "Not only would other students hate and bully you, but teachers would be no better. I am sure they are already discussing what to do about you.
And the only conclusion I see them reaching is to force you out cleanly." 𝕗𝐫𝚎𝗲𝘄𝐞𝕓𝐧𝕠𝘃𝕖𝐥.𝐜𝚘𝚖
His voice was low.
Although his tone and words sounded harsh, it felt like he was doing a reality check for Noa.
It sounded like a warning.
A hint of what might happen to him soon.
However, Kael also realized that no matter how he tried to remind Noa, Noa would have already considered everything he might say to him.
So he stopped there—only staring at him to gauge his conviction.
"Let them," Noa said calmly, proving that the attitude he had with Irina hadn’t changed. "Beasts aren’t everything. They might be part of the strength, but tamers are all that matters."
"Good point," Marlo coughed and put his hand over Noa’s shoulders.
He was acting friendly as always.
But this time, he pushed even further and softened his voice. "I think... Or I want to believe that you are right."
Not everyone was fated for strong and talented beasts.
The odds were so low that most tamers, unable to change their destiny, suffered in agony.
But not giving up was what made them strong.
Luck only favored those who tried until the end, and who knew—fate might change its mind.
"My beast is good," Marlo continued. He didn’t say it with pride, nor was arrogance evident in his voice. "I might as well show it."
Then, the room changed colors.
If before the walls had been white and clean, now they shifted to green, almost melting them with their intensity.
Suddenly, something appeared behind the boy.
It was eerie. Cold. Raw. And powerful.
"Is that?" Kael muttered, his eyes narrowing.
Lior stood up as well, frowning in surprise.
"Lantherion. The same beast as the instructor Irina. But it’s stronger. I think it has noble blood in it?" Noa realized, announcing his finding.
Turns out, the chatterbox boy who was annoying him this whole time had an epic-ranked beast.
If that wasn’t all, it had a special bloodline, boosting its talent even more.
