Doted By The Regent King-Chapter 1454 - 1392: Irony and Counter-Irony
Wu Lihong’s display of feigned affection caught everyone present by surprise and shock; this was not what had been agreed upon!
Old Madam Wu was momentarily stunned, lowered her brows, picked up her tea, and took a sip, not rushing to react.
Meanwhile, Madam Wang’s eyes flared with anger. This was completely different from what had been agreed upon before coming. She hadn’t come to bring this shameless woman back to the Wu Family, and she wasn’t so shameless herself.
But quickly, she calmed down, realizing that Wu Lihong was just being delusional. Not to mention the bigger issues, even the little wretch certainly wouldn’t satisfy him.
So, Madam Wang quickly lowered her head, hiding the derision in her eyes.
Wufu also displayed a hint of sarcasm on her face, her lips curving coldly as she looked at Madam Zhou.
Madam Zhou snapped out of her shock, glanced at the slightly bowed-headed Madam Wang, and the indifferent-acting Old Madam Wu, then gently bit her lip and said to Wu Lihong, "Lord Wu, I have already promised Wufu that from now on, I’ll live with the children. I have also made it clear to you before, so please stop bringing up returning to the Wu Family. Just consider that we mother and children do not exist!"
Wu Lihong’s fervent gaze dimmed, and he pressed his lips together.
Madam Zhou placed her trembling hands on her knees, staring back at him steadily.
"You still resent me. Tell me, what will it take for you to agree to come back with me?" Wu Lihong asked through gritted teeth.
Madam Zhou shook her head: "I used to think too simply. I won’t go back with you, and this matter should not be brought up again."
"Mei Niang!"
"Lord Wu, begging another woman in front of your wife, isn’t that too much? I really feel embarrassed and sorry for your wife!" Wufu interrupted him.
Madam Wang lifted her head and exchanged a glance with her before averting her eyes. Compared to the embarrassment Wu Lihong brought her, Wufu’s words felt more ironic and insulting.
Being lightly slapped in the face by Wufu, Wu Lihong felt his face burning. He glanced at Madam Wang and said in a deep voice, "You rebellious daughter, what do you want? Are you only satisfied if you set the family against each other? What good does that do for you?"
Wufu chuckled, looking at him like a fool, and said, "What good does it do? Seeing you unhappy makes me happy!" 𝘧𝓇ℯℯ𝑤ℯ𝘣𝓃ℴ𝓋𝑒𝑙.𝑐𝘰𝑚
"Rebellious daughter!"
Wu Lihong was furious!
Wufu’s smiling face turned cold, and she said, "I let you in not to hear you scold me! Mo Lan, send them out!"
No gratitude at all!
Mo Lan immediately stepped forward with her sword, and Wu Lihong’s body stiffened, urgently looking at Madam Zhou: "Mei Niang, can you really watch this rebellious daughter defy her father like this? Do you really disregard our relationship?"
Madam Zhou opened her mouth, looked at Wufu, and then lowered her head; she couldn’t embarrass Wufu.
"Enough!" Seeing Wu Lihong’s deep affection wasn’t working, Old Madam Wu had to intervene.
"Mother!"
"Sit down! Since they don’t acknowledge you, why are you shamelessly clinging on? You, as a father, will be the one struck by lightning!" Old Madam Wu’s words were sharp, directly pointing at Wufu.
Madam Zhou’s face turned pale.
Wufu’s face turned cold at this, and she said, "Old Madam is not wrong. Some people are simply not fit to be fathers, deceiving in marriage and love. Such people, what face do they have to call themselves fathers?"
Old Madam Wu was so angered by her retort that she almost fainted, her hand shaking as she pointed at her: "You, you..." she took a deep breath when met with Wufu’s dark gaze, saying, "I won’t argue with you. What exactly do you want? That marriage certificate, what will it take for you to return it?"
