Doctor: Picking Up Attributes in the Hospital-Chapter 354 - 329: Xu Man Ni’s Tenderness (Part 2)
"Do you still remember Song Chen’s situation? I heard she’s not doing well overseas now."
Xu Man Ni said.
"Not doing well? Who did you hear that from? Didn’t I hear that her mentor is a Nobel Prize-winning medical expert?"
Sun Li asked curiously.
Actually, many people in the hospital still remember Song Chen and are quite concerned about her.
After all, before Song Chen left, she was considered the most outstanding female doctor at Eastern Hospital, and nobody would oppose that view.
"Being with a big shot isn’t necessarily a good thing. If the big shot’s brilliance is too dazzling, doesn’t that make it harder to stand out? Anyway, I heard that her circumstances abroad aren’t great, especially after being back in the country for so many years; her past connections have faded."
Xu Man Ni said.
When Song Chen left, Xu Man Ni was the happiest. Originally, she was prepared for a long-term battle with Song Chen, but she suddenly left, saving Xu Man Ni a great deal of effort.
After all, in terms of looks, figure, and temperament, Song Chen was on par with Xu Man Ni, and Song Chen had an additional intellectual charm that was particularly attractive to a genius like Zhao Heng.
"I think if she’s not doing well, she should just come back. I heard Director Huang from the cardiac department said there will always be a position for Song Chen there."
Sun Li pondered and said with some emotion.
She couldn’t quite comprehend why someone would give up a good life to pursue a dream across the ocean.
Before Song Chen left, technically speaking, in the cardiac department, besides Director Huang Jincheng, it was Song Chen who was the strongest.
In a few more years, she’d naturally become the deputy director. Now, her departure means all her previous efforts are for naught.
"How can she come back if she’s not doing well abroad..."
Xu Man Ni said calmly, somewhat understanding Song Chen, knowing she didn’t go abroad just to succeed but to fulfill a long-held wish.
If it was truly about succeeding, there was no need to leave in the first place.
"True."
Sun Li nodded. Indeed, if things aren’t going well, coming back would be embarrassing, though this is just the spectators’ view, and Song Chen likely doesn’t care about such trivialities.
"Alright, I won’t talk to you anymore; I’m off work now."
Xu Man Ni said to Sun Li as she finished packing her things.
"Take it easy tonight; you have work tomorrow. I wouldn’t want to see you exerting yourself so much that you can’t work tomorrow."
Sun Li smiled and said to Xu Man Ni.
"It’s not as exaggerated as you think."
Xu Man Ni replied wryly.
Leaving the operating room and medication room, Xu Man Ni went to Zhao Heng’s section, sitting in the office to wait for him.
At the moment, only Liu Meng was in the ward office. Seeing Xu Man Ni, she smiled and said, "Man Ni, are you here waiting for Dr. Zhao to finish work?"
"Yes."
Xu Man Ni nodded to Liu Meng.
"How is the ward compared to before in the ER, feeling a bit different?"
Xu Man Ni asked Liu Meng after glancing at her.
Since Zhao Heng was overseeing this ward, Xu Man Ni cared a lot about it too, so she often gathered information from her good friend Tian Zhen.
"How should I say, Man Ni? Compared to the ER before, now it’s much better in terms of self-improvement as well as benefits."
Liu Meng said sincerely.
"Since it’s going well, just keep working hard. I believe this ward will have great development ahead."
Xu Man Ni was pleased to hear Liu Meng say this.
Given that Zhao Heng was in charge, the ward’s development made the doctors feel a strong sense of belonging, and Xu Man Ni felt proud of that too.
Xu Man Ni continued chatting with Liu Meng, mostly talking about Zhao Heng.
Before long, Zhao Heng came into the office, seeing Xu Man Ni, he checked the time and asked with some confusion, "Why are you off work so early today?"
Xu Man Ni’s operating room was always busy, and she was also campaigning for the head nurse position, making her even busier. Zhao Heng was surprised she finished early to wait for him.
"Coming off early to wait for you isn’t a good thing?"
Xu Man Ni jokingly replied to Zhao Heng.
She left half an hour early because she had preparations for the evening.
That’s why it’s said medical practitioners know how to let themselves go, being extremely thorough even for certain things.
"What’s in your bag? It’s bulging."
Zhao Heng noticed the puffy state of Xu Man Ni’s bag and asked curiously.
"Oh, just stop asking, quickly change your clothes and get ready to leave."
Xu Man Ni blushed and said softly when Zhao Heng asked.
"Okay."
Zhao Heng nodded, quickly changed his clothes, and Xu Man Ni linked her arm with his as they left the hospital together, heading to the parking lot where Zhao Heng took the driver’s seat and started the car.
On the road, Zhao Heng kept glancing at Xu Man Ni’s bulging bag.
"Stop looking."
Xu Man Ni blushed slightly.
"What exactly is in there?"
Zhao Heng asked, puzzled, while driving.
"Just because of you, when I was looking for the stuff, Lili even saw it."
Xu Man Ni playfully complained to Zhao Heng.
"Huh? What’s in your bag?..."
Zhao Heng realized what the contents of her bag were.
"Stop talking about it."
Xu Man Ni said.
"Alright, I won’t talk about it."
Zhao Heng felt secretly pleased. Although such things are typical for couples, everyone’s comfort levels differ. If not in sync regarding this, it can be uncomfortable.
Soon, they arrived at Xu Man Ni’s housing complex.
Upstairs, entering the door, Zhao Heng said, "Let me make dinner today, you can relax."
"Okay."
Xu Man Ni nodded sweetly.
"Shall dinner be on the lighter side?"
Zhao Heng suggested.
"Whatever you make, I’ll eat."
Xu Man Ni said.
She headed to the bedroom, not revealing her activities.
Back in the bedroom, Xu Man Ni went to the bathroom to take things out of her bag.
Looking at the contents, Xu Man Ni blushed.
Time quickly turned to nine.
After dinner, they sat on the sofa, with Xu Man Ni leaning against Zhao Heng, both watching TV.
It was still early; they had to wait until ten for the prime program to start.
Dinner was light, and Xu Man Ni only ate a little.
The TV aired the currently popular drama, "The Lady’s Dignity"
A series Xu Man Ni was following, claimed to be especially for career women.
While watching, Zhao Heng couldn’t help but feel restless.
Today, Xu Man Ni appeared incredibly beautiful, with skin a shade akin to white jade, known as "cold white skin," rare among women.
Thinking of the impending "reward," the intense contrast made Zhao Heng’s heart race even more.
Many things happen this way; anticipation before an event often feels the most exciting.
This anticipation felt both anxious and wonderful.
Eventually, after the episode ended, Zhao Heng couldn’t hold back.
"It’s late, let’s rest."
Zhao Heng suggested gently.
Judging Zhao Heng’s demeanor, Xu Man Ni understood his thoughts.
There’s a saying that women dress for those they like; her elaborate preparations and grooming were designed to elicit Zhao Heng’s reaction.
"Okay."
Xu Man Ni nodded.
Zhao Heng lifted her up, taking her into the bedroom.
After an hour.
Resting together, Xu Man Ni teasingly asked Zhao Heng, "Was that reward satisfactory?"
"Yes, very satisfactory."
Recalling the delightful time, Zhao Heng affirmed.
"Remember, such rewards can’t be frequent."
Xu Man Ni reminded.
As a seasoned surgical instrument nurse, she understood certain things should be occasional.
"Okay, once a week?"
Zhao Heng suggested.
"Once a week is too frequent."
Xu Man Ni voiced her dissatisfaction.
"Every two weeks?"
Zhao Heng tried again.
"That sounds fine."
After thinking, Xu Man Ni agreed.
