After speaking, the aunt turned and left, leaving behind a happy Liu Ergou and a stunned Han Jiajia. Soon, the aunt’s figure vanished from sight. It was then that Han Jiajia snapped back to reality. With a furious cry, she lunged at Liu Ergou without a second’s hesitation and bit down hard on his shoulder.

Han Jiajia used all her strength in that bite, and the pain sent Liu Ergou leaping to his feet.

"Aah! It hurts! It hurts!"

"Han Jiajia, what are you doing?! Why are you suddenly biting me like a dog?"

"Let go, do you hear me? It’s killing me!"

Liu Ergou tried to break free, but the harder he struggled, the tighter Han Jiajia bit. In the end, the pain was so intense that he didn’t dare move. Gazing at Han Jiajia, who was still clamped onto his shoulder, he said helplessly, "Han Jiajia, let go! It hurts too much, didn’t you hear me? If you keep this up, you’re going to break the skin!"

It was at this point that Han Jiajia finally spoke, her voice muffled.

As she spoke, she clamped down even harder. Liu Ergou’s face flushed a deep red.

Their quarrel was loud enough that residents going up and down the stairs had all turned to watch. Fearing the scene would escalate, Liu Ergou could only endure the pain. He scooped up Han Jiajia, ran downstairs, dove into his car, and slammed the door shut.

Once inside, Liu Ergou finally spoke.

"Han Jiajia, I’m giving you one last chance. Let go. Now. If you don’t, I can’t guarantee what will happen next. You’ll be crying before you know it, understand?"

That was the worst thing he could have said; it only made Han Jiajia more defiant.

"I don’t believe you! Go on, do your worst! I’d like to see you try!"

"If you dare to hit me, I’ll just bite harder. We both know who that will hurt more!"

Hearing her shameless words, Liu Ergou laughed in exasperation.

"Fine, fine, fine!

"You’ve got guts, so don’t you dare let go. But if you do, and I don’t teach you a lesson right here and now, I’ll write my name, Liu Ergou, backwards!"

Before Han Jiajia could react, Liu Ergou’s hands slipped under her clothes. She panicked instantly.

"You’re trying to molest me!"

A roguish smile spread across Liu Ergou’s face.

"Congratulations, you guessed wrong!"

With that, his hands found Han Jiajia’s most ticklish spots and began to mercilessly tickle her.

It took less than three seconds for Han Jiajia to break. She burst out laughing, her grip on his shoulder finally loosening. But Liu Ergou had no intention of stopping. He continued his assault, becoming even more enthusiastic.

Within minutes, Han Jiajia was laughing so hard she was gasping for air.

"Er Gou, I... I was wrong! Let me go!"

"Hahaha, if you don’t stop, I’m going to die from laughing... Hahaha, please! I know I was wrong!"

Hearing her pleas, Liu Ergou only became more relentless. This left Han Jiajia unable to do anything but shriek with laughter. After another few minutes, seeing she was truly about to pass out from lack of air, Liu Ergou finally let her go, though he still felt a bit unsatisfied.

Looking down at Han Jiajia, who was slumped over on top of him, Liu Ergou smirked. "Tsk, weren’t you all high and mighty just a moment ago? What happened? Gave up already? Go on, keep acting tough. I preferred you that way." 𝓯𝙧𝓮𝓮𝒘𝓮𝙗𝙣𝒐𝒗𝒆𝓵.𝓬𝓸𝒎

Normally, such words would have made Han Jiajia jump up and fight Liu Ergou. But now, she was so weak from laughing that she had no energy left. All she could do was give him a massive eye-roll.

Seeing this, Liu Ergou laughed, then helped her into the passenger seat.

He then drove straight to the police station.

By the time they arrived, Han Jiajia had mostly recovered. She glanced at the time, went straight to the chief’s office to ask where to pick up the people from the Patrol Bureau, and then returned to Liu Ergou’s car.

"Let’s go. We need to pick up the team from the Patrol Bureau. The chief said they’ll arrive in about an hour."

Liu Ergou nodded and started the car.

Soon, they arrived at the pickup location and began to wait patiently. After a while, Liu Ergou seemed to remember something. "Oh right, Jia Jia, I almost forgot about Feng Chunling’s case. Who’s going to handle it after you leave?"

Han Jiajia replied, "I’ve already briefed a colleague. Just have Feng Chunling go over directly. My colleague will handle all the subsequent procedures with her."

Liu Ergou nodded and didn’t press further. He immediately took out his phone, called Feng Chunling, and told her to head to the police station to sort out the remaining matters. Afterward, the two of them went back to waiting.

An entire hour passed.

Liu Ergou checked the time on his phone with a helpless expression. "Jia Jia, what’s going on? Didn’t you say they’d be here in about an an hour? It’s been over an hour now, and we still haven’t seen anyone from the Patrol Bureau. You don’t think my car is too inconspicuous, do you? Maybe they can’t see it?"

Han Jiajia thought for a moment before replying, "Hmm, maybe the people from the Patrol Bureau got held up. They’re incredibly busy, after all. I heard the chief say that every officer there is juggling three or four cases at once; they’re completely swamped. It’s likely they just got delayed by something else."

Seeing the logic in her explanation, Liu Ergou settled in to wait with her again.

Another hour passed.

By this point, Liu Ergou’s patience had worn thin.

He frowned and said, "That’s another hour! They should have been here by now! Are the people from the Patrol Bureau even coming? Jia Jia, you should call and ask."

Han Jiajia was about to try and placate him again when her phone rang. She pulled it out and saw it was a call from her chief, so she answered immediately.

The moment the call connected, the chief’s voice came through. "Han Jiajia, I just got some last-minute news. The team from the Patrol Bureau has been called away on an urgent matter, so they won’t be able to make it today. You can come on back for now. We’ll wait for another notification about when to go."
