Leveling Technology To Save Humanity-Chapter 105: Enemies at Home
Enemies near, enemies far.
Gort waved his hand loosely, giving Rufung and Khelt Kin to go ahead to begin all monitoring operations. ’I need to stop thinking small. Afterall, doing so will only fool myself into delaying the inevitable.’ 𝗳𝐫𝚎𝗲𝚠𝚎𝗯𝕟𝐨𝘃𝚎𝗹.𝗰𝗼𝗺
Truthfully, this was the part he had been pushing back, not wanting to face the music so early on in his plan for world Protection.
Rufung and Khelt Kin had long pulled him aside a week ago, stating the obvious. What they said, went something like this:
"Kid, I wont mess with you. In this new world, powers will shift."
"Exactly. And from what I’ve understood from you, the direction you’re heading for as Empirical. That being said, you must start wearing the hat of one who overlooks his people. This includes making tough decisions and putting some disadvantages in place."
...
Gort recalled getting nagged again and again by these 2. In the end, they were right. The next day, Gort woke up and sprung into action. It was amazing how the VR matter hadn’t even quenched down, yet he was already moving about to mobilize his plans.
In one of the conference rooms of GF WorldTech’s Headquarters, many senior managers, leaders, superiors, overseers and top scientists, were listening attentively with ears so perked high to the skies they resembled foxes.
No matter who it was, the display shown just now made their hands twitch spastically and their breathing growing rapidly.
Pah!
Someone slapped their face, still in disbelief by it all. GF WorldTech Headquarters, was a lone sector on its own. Here, most conversations about the future of GF worldtech as a whole were held.
Gort slowly took his seat after the demonstration. With his hands cusped on the table, Gort swept his gaze left to right, and right to left.
"As I said earlier, GF Worldtech will venture into all PRIMARY walks of life. As for what it all entails, I will slowly speak more on it in the upcoming meetings."
"That being said, GF WorldTech will soon open another branch, a Transportation branch. And the Hoverboard I demonstrated will be the first product to be sold."
Gort confidently described his plans, making many nod from time to time.
"Boss Gort you need not worry, We’ll handle things accordingly. To be honest, how does your brain grow? Incredible! To think smooth Flying technology would be invented so soon in my time."
"That is, where is the exhaust? I see no smoke or rocket fire to propel it high. If this isn’t miraculous, I don’t know what is."
Bunten, one of the Han twins, frowned. "Boss, I agree with building a new sector, but as it is, we have too much construction going on in every part of the village."
"He’s right," Bungen, the other twin, voiced. "If we’re going to get The Transportation sector built in 2 and a half weeks, we need more construction on some projects to come to a halt for now."
"Can’t we just hire more people?" Some people asked.
"Too risky." The twins were the first to object. "Right now, we are caught in the middle of a storm. We have enemies everywhere: overseas and at our home—Gwintia country.
"While I admit we should have some faith in our countrymen, greed was a very seductive thing. Newcomers pose more threats, since we might miss one or 2 from our vetting, allowing them to sneak through the cracks."
Gort nodded, agreeing with the twins. Building the Transportation sector so fast means he would need hundreds and thousands of workers working on it all at once. With how swiftly he wants it done, he could lead potential assassins and deadly people into his safe haven.
Rubbing his chin, he concluded that the best mode of action would be pausing a PAUSE on a few projects and having these people jointly work on the Transportation Sector.
Linty Mett frowned. "We don’t necessarily need to Pause these projects. We could take out 80% of those working on this project, having them work unanimously on the Transportation Sector."
"Alright, we’ll do just that. Here..." Gort tossed the architectural plans to another man called Ergo.
He oversaw most construction for GF Worldtech buildings. "Ergo, I expect perfection as always. Get the teams ready and begin work in 2 days tops. As for construction materials, you know how to get them. We need this done fast. So if there’s anything holding you back, don’t hesitate to let me know."
Ergo nodded, carefully looking through the Plans.
Once again, he was blown away by Gort’s vision. ’GF World Tech’s Transportation branch, huh?’
No doubt the layout would be one that shocks the world during the 2nd Press conference.
.....
Very quickly, they discussed more on the Transportation sector, with Gort giving them a taste of what the future would be like.
Many times, people say: The future is bright... But what does that actually mean? Did you really understand and grasp the true intent in these words? Only now can they comprehend just how bright the future really is. In fact, it was so bright it caused an eclipse in their hearts. And with a leader like Gort, they felt they could move mountains if he wanted them gone.
Gort chuckled, finding their animated expressions amusing. "Alright, enough talk on Transportation. There are 2 other reasons why I held this meeting. We’ll start with the first—Medical Research."
Many people leaned back into their seats, not finding it strange. Deep down in their hearts, did they not expect it at some point?
Dr. Shard, who had willingly quit his job and moved to Geldhan village, was now one of the top medical advisors in the settlement. They say there’s no time like the present. After knowing a flood was underway, do you expect him to continue living out there with his family?—NO WAY.
Everyone in his home thought he was insane. His daughter, his son, his wife, his parents, his in-laws...
He bundled them up rudely, no questions asked. Everyone was grumbling and cursing throughout the long drive. But now, after only 5 days of staying in Geldhan village, they didn’t want to go back.
