Doctor and His Glamorous Sister-in-Law-Chapter 626 - 629 Deadly
Liu Ergou tilted his head, listening intently as the roar of motorcycle engines sounded from the village entrance. As the roaring grew louder, a sudden burst of colorful lights illuminated the entrance.
The scene left Liu Ergou dumbfounded. What the hell? Why were there colorful lights at the village entrance? Could a circus have come here to perform? It seemed only a circus would have such flashy lights; no one else would.
While Liu Ergou was still puzzling over this, another sound reached his ears—the cheers and screams of a crowd. The noise made him even more convinced that a circus must have come to the village for a performance. Nothing else could be this lively.
Just as Liu Ergou was wondering where the circus might set up camp, the colorful lights and commotion from the village entrance began speeding toward him. Five or six minutes later, a dozen or so heavily modified, brightly decorated motorcycles stopped in front of him.
The riders all had their hair dyed in strange colors, though their clothes were relatively normal. It was their motorcycles that Liu Ergou found hard to stomach. Looking at their bikes, Liu Ergou suddenly recalled a term for them. Ghost Fire motorcycles. Yes, that's the one. He had only heard of them before; this was the first time he'd seen them in person.
While Liu Ergou was still in a daze, the leader of the group stopped his bike, walked up to him, and called out loudly, "Brother Gou, we got your call and rushed over straight away!"
"Just tell us what you need done! Give the order, and we won't hesitate, even if it means climbing a mountain of swords or plunging into a sea of flames!"
Looking at the person speaking to him, Liu Ergou didn't react immediately. After a full two or three minutes, he asked cautiously, "Are you really the same group as last time? You're sure you're all Li Dajiang's..."
Before Liu Ergou could finish, the leader interrupted him. "Brother Gou, you really have a poor memory for someone so important! We're the same people as last time; we just changed our look a bit, and now you don't recognize us!"
Hearing this, Liu Ergou couldn't help but slap a hand to his forehead. He asked in despair, "No, what on earth is wrong with you guys? Why do you look like this? If I remember correctly, I gave you money last time to get yourselves cleaned up, not to turn into a gaudy mess! And what's the result? Not only are you a gaudy mess, but you're also riding these Ghost Fire motorcycles! What's next? Are you all going to dye your hair blond and then bring some young girl to me, is that it?"
Liu Ergou's tirade made everyone lower their heads in shame.
Seeing Liu Ergou's anger, the leader explained in a low voice, "Brother Gou, don't be angry yet! Hear me out! You did give us money last time, but I didn't dare spend it recklessly. We were afraid we'd be broke again in no time if we did. So, our look didn't change. As for these motorcycles..." At this, the leader smiled sheepishly. "Ever since we stopped running with Wu Dahu's crew, we haven't had a ride. We had no choice but to dig up our old high school gear! If these bikes weren't so durable, we might not have even made it over here!"
Hearing this, Liu Ergou let out a long sigh. So I wronged them. That feels pretty bad. Still, their bizarre appearance was hard for him to accept.
With that thought, Liu Ergou turned around, went back into his house, and came out with a stack of cash. He handed it out, giving each of them 1,000 yuan.
"I'm giving you an ultimatum," Liu Ergou said as he distributed the money. "If you can't do this, then get lost and don't come looking for me again. I'll consider this money thrown to the dogs! Take this cash, get your asses to town immediately, and shave off all that yellow, purple, and green hair. Then, strip every last gaudy thing off your motorcycles! Come back and see me when you look like decent human beings. I have a job that needs your help! Do you hear me?"
The group immediately shouted in response. "We hear you, Brother Gou!"
Liu Ergou finished handing out the money, and the group took the cash and headed back to town. After they left, he looked up and wiped the cold sweat from his forehead.
Looks like I'll have to buy these guys a van in the future. No, better make it two. If they keep riding around on those Ghost Fire bikes, I'll lose what little face I have left. Shaking his head at the thought, Liu Ergou went back inside to rest.
「The next day.」
The group arrived early at Liu Ergou's house. When he saw them again, their appearance had changed dramatically for the better. Their multicolored, nest-like hair was gone, replaced by uniformly black crew cuts. Their clothes were now normal, and the bizarre lights on their motorcycles had vanished, leaving them looking like ordinary bikes.
Seeing this, Liu Ergou nodded in satisfaction. He took out his phone and called the master craftsman renovating his house, telling him he had found some helpers, though they were a bunch of novices who would need instruction. The master craftsman didn't hesitate and immediately rode over.
Once the craftsman arrived, Liu Ergou pointed at him and addressed the group. "I'll keep this brief. From today on, you'll all work under him. You do whatever he tells you to do, and you learn whatever he teaches you! As for wages, it's 3,000 a month per person, room and board included. You'll be staying here from now on. Of course, that doesn't mean you've sold your lives to me; you're just staying here to work. If you need time off, just ask for leave. It's that simple. If you can accept these terms, you stay. If not, you can leave right now!"
Upon hearing 3,000 a month, their eyes lit up. Not a single person wanted to leave.
Liu Ergou nodded, satisfied. Just as he was about to turn away, he remembered something and slapped his forehead. He turned back to the master craftsman. "My apologies, Master, I just remembered something else. Uh, I need you to go find Village Chief Liu Jingming. Tell him Liu Ergou sent you. Have him find a few abandoned houses in the village to accommodate my men."
