Divorced and Determined: The CEO's Ex-Wife Fights for Love-Chapter 101
Chapter 101 Yuan Haojie’s Mom, Are Your Dumplings Weaned?
Yuan Haojie’s mom brought out the results of an hour and a half of hard work.
“Everyone, please try the dumplings our group made.”
Parents and kids from other groups leaned in to have a look.
“Yuan Haojie’s mom, are these dumplings or garlic cloves?”
“Could they be any smaller? They’re as tiny as a fingernail! Miniature dumplings for sure!”
“Yuan Haojie’s mom, I bet I could eat four figures worth of your dumplings. Do you believe me?”
“Yuan Haojie’s mom, are your dumplings weaned yet?”
“These dumplings look like embryos that haven’t fully developed!”
Yuan Haojie shook his head speechlessly.
“My mom says she’s done her best.”
Lu Qin and Shen Muyan both laughed, while Lu Xiyao wanted to taste one of the tiny dumplings. Shen Muyan quickly stopped her.
If the dumplings were this odd in size, their flavor was probably equally unusual—it wasn’t worth the risk.
The next group presented something that could barely pass as cookies.
“Red-red’s dad, what’s this?”
“Obviously, these are cookies.”
“Obviously, these are lumps of coal!”
“Mr. Li, I can’t accept these cookies. I refuse to try them.”
“Red-red’s dad, your cookies make one feel miserable after the first bite, dazed after the second, and euphoric after the third, ready to ascend the clouds!”
“Red-red’s dad, next time just bake with coal directly. Why go through all this effort?”
The groups that followed only got more ridiculous.
There was green egg cake, Sprite chicken wings, knife-cut noodles, dragon fruit stir-fried with shrimp…
Each dish was more of a culinary nightmare than the last. Other groups dared not taste them. Only the group’s fathers or sons braved a bite, demonstrating their manly responsibility.
The result? Painful grimaces all around. Thankfully, they only had a taste—any more, and they might have become projectile warriors.
“Come, everyone! Try our group’s creative dish! We’ve named it ‘Minesweeper’!”
The last group brought their dish forward.
“‘Minesweeper’? Isn’t this just shredded potatoes? What’s so creative about it?”
“Shredded potatoes stir-fried with ginger strips.”
“Oh, wow! That truly is ‘Minesweeper’!”
“If you’ve got the creativity, why not channel it into figuring out how to cook a proper dish?”
Teachers Li and Zhang couldn’t help shaking their heads. What they had hoped would be a harmonious and joyful cooking activity had turned into a parade of dishes too horrendous to look at, let alone eat.
The fresh ingredients bought by the kindergarten kitchen had been thoroughly wasted. They couldn’t let the kitchen staff see this—or there might truly be an incident involving kitchen knives.
The kids collectively shook their heads, silently thinking how challenging this batch of parents was to handle. Originally, each group was supposed to prepare a dish for everyone to share, solving lunch in the process. Teacher Li had informed the cafeteria in advance not to prepare lunch for today.
Now, things had gotten troublesome. The afternoon still had parent-child activities lined up, and letting the parents and kids starve was not an option.
“Daddy, I’m hungry~!”
Lu Xiyao lifted her little head, looking at Lu Qin with a pitiful, expectant gaze.
“Come, Xiyao, try Mommy’s twice-cooked pork. I’ve made rice as well.”
Shen Muyan promoted her first-ever cooking attempt. Not eating it would be wasteful.
“Thank you, Mommy, but can I not eat it?”
The rice, cooked by Lu Qin, was fragrant and fluffy, which the little one could accept. But the twice-cooked pork? It looked overly salty and greasy—terrifying, really!
Eating rice without the meat it was supposed to accompany was tough.
What a struggle!
“Mommy made this for the first time. Aren’t you going to support her?”
“Mommy, I support you in spirit~!”
“No way! Physical support is a must. Also, no wasting food. Come, recite a poem about cherishing food to elevate your awareness!”
Shen Muyan was unwilling to accept this. After all her hard work, not even one bite? It was too discouraging.
“Alright, kids have sensitive stomachs. Don’t force her.”
Lu Qin stepped in to rescue the little one.
“Let me see if I can salvage this dish.”
Shen Muyan: “…”
Lu Qin washed the wok and then added a bit of cold oil to the hot pan.
The twice-cooked pork was about to get a third round in the pan.
Parents, teachers, and kids all turned their attention to him, faces full of anticipation.
“Not redoing it entirely? Can the twice-cooked pork be saved? That’s Shen Muyan’s first-ever dish!”
“Impossible! Trust me, the prettier the woman, the scarier her cooking. Look at Shen Muyan’s elegance and beauty—do you even need to guess her cooking skills?”
“Well, that’s it. Lu Qin can’t possibly save her twice-cooked pork!”
“Honey, how’s my cooking?”
“Unquestionable! Five-star chef standard!”
“Hiss—! Take it easy! That hurts!”
“Dare to say I’m ugly again, and you’re kneeling on the washboard tonight!”
“I won’t kneel on the washboard… I’ll kneel on the keyboard, so what?”
Lu Qin tilted the pan, letting the oil drip out of the twice-cooked pork.
Shen Muyan remained calm outwardly but felt slightly embarrassed inside. She distinctly remembered not adding that much oil. Where did it all come from?
A parent joked, “Lu Qin, don’t waste the oil. Pour it into my car’s fuel tank—it might run for two kilometers!”
Shen Muyan’s pale cheeks turned slightly red, adding a touch of charm.
Lu Qin tasted a slice of the twice-cooked pork. It was a bit salty, soft, and greasy. With rice, it could barely go down, but too much would make one nauseous.
He added some minced garlic to the pan for aroma, then tossed the twice-cooked pork back in, stirring vigorously over high heat. Flames erupted in the wok, eliciting gasps from the kids.
“Wow! Look at that! Now, that’s what you call a chef!”
“You don’t get this level of skill without seven or eight years of experience!”
“A man who can cook is truly handsome! Help me—I’m fainting from the sight of this!”
Lu Qin flipped the wok rapidly, adding a bit of sugar, a dash of sweet bean paste, and a small spoon of water. He also threw in a few slices of king oyster mushrooms to absorb the grease.
The twice-cooked pork stayed in the pan for just a minute before being plated again.
“It’s done. Try it.”
Lu Qin sampled it first. The taste was now balanced—not too salty or greasy, with a nice aroma. It wasn’t quite up to his usual standard, but it was good enough for a high-end restaurant.
“Awesome! I want to try!”
Lu Xiyao trusted her dad’s cooking skills. After his improvements, it was sure to taste good.
“Blow on it first, Xiyao. It’s hot.”

“Got it~!”
Lu Xiyao popped a piece into her mouth and started chewing happily.
“Daddy, it tastes really good~!”
“Mommy, you should try it, too. And learn while you’re at it. Hehe~!”
Lu Qin served two bowls of rice for Shen Muyan and Lu Xiyao.
“Aren’t you eating?”
Shen Muyan noticed Lu Qin hadn’t served himself.
“You two eat first. I’ll quickly whip up some tomato and egg stir-fry.”
Lu Qin cracked three eggs into a bowl and whisked them briskly in one direction.
In three minutes, the tomato and egg stir-fry was ready, filling the air with a delicious aroma.
Parents and kids stared, swallowing hard.
It was just tomato and egg stir-fry—how could it smell so good?
Lu Qin’s dish clearly outshone Shen Muyan’s twice-cooked pork.
All three sets of chopsticks kept reaching for the tomato and egg stir-fry.
“Daddy, your tomato and egg stir-fry is amazing~!”
The little one ate with relish.
Even Shen Muyan couldn’t stop her chopsticks.
“Teacher Li, uh, where can we eat? It’s noon, and we’re really hungry!”
Teacher Li awkwardly replied, “I’m so sorry. I thought everyone’s dishes would be shareable, and with so many groups, everyone would have enough to eat. So I didn’t ask the cafeteria to prepare lunch.”
The teachers had initially planned to mooch off the food themselves but had ended up being dragged into the mess.
“I’ve already informed the kitchen staff to start washing, chopping, and cooking. Lunch should be ready in about two hours.”
Parents groaned, their faces falling.
Two hours? They’d starve to death by then!
Meanwhile, Lu Xiyao’s family of three had already started eating.
“Ahem… Lu Qin, do you think our mashed potatoes can be saved? We just need them to be edible!”
Zhong Shuyi’s dad was already starving. His wife was a pro at shopping and beauty treatments, but cooking? A disaster. Even the simplest mashed potatoes she learned from TikTok had been a failure. Left with no other option, he sought Lu Qin’s help.
The alluring aroma of the tomato and egg stir-fry had only made him hungrier.
