Divorce Revenge System: Knowing the Future in Advance-Chapter 923 - 673: Compared to Zhang Ningzhi_2
Upon hearing this, Jiang Nian felt a tightness in his heart. He almost started walking awkwardly; if someone else had asked like that, he might have died on the spot.
However, the class president was probably just asking literally.
The crosswalk wasn't long, just over ten meters in total. To Jiang Nian, it felt like walking through hellfire.
"She and I are the best friends in the world."
"Hmm?"
"You and I are the best on earth, but I'm the kind of person who likes being grounded, so I prefer spending time with you."
Li Qingrong glanced at him, her eyes somewhat deep.
"Hmm."
The meal was incredibly awkward for Jiang Nian, making him feel like he was sitting on a chair full of thorns.
Fortunately, it was finished.
After paying the bill, Jiang Nian walked the class president to the entrance of Jingfu District. Just as he was about to leave, he noticed that the class president seemed a bit down.
He gathered his courage and quickly stepped forward, embracing Li Qingrong, and said as she was bewildered.
"Qingqing, there's something I want to say to you."
"Hmm?"
Li Qingrong's cool expression finally changed a bit. She blinked in surprise, her earlobes turning red.
According to the usual script, the next sentence should be a confession.
Jiang Nian took a deep breath and said again, "Remember, a walk after a meal helps you live till ninety-nine."
Having said that, he turned and left in big strides.
Li Qingrong was left dumbfounded, staring blankly in the direction he had left. When she snapped back to reality, she couldn't help clenching her fists.
...
No one disturbed them at noon; Chen Yunyun and the others went shopping. The grocery stores had discounts for Women's Day, so they probably bought a lot of goodies.
Jiang Nian leisurely took a nap and slept into the afternoon.
When he woke up, a box of yogurt had appeared on the table.
He glanced sideways; Zhang Ningzhi hadn't arrived yet. He figured Chen Yunyun must have left it, so he opened it and drank.
In the afternoon, during the science comprehensive exam, when swapping exam seats.
Jiang Nian sneaked a peek at the class president and saw her expression was cold, so he poked her arm.
"Ahem."
Li Qingrong glanced at him and then withdrew her gaze. She seemed to want to say something but held back.
After the answer sheets were distributed, Jiang Nian had just written his name and student number.
Suddenly, a fair hand stretched out next to him, and in one sweep, completely blacked out the class and exam numbers on his sheet.
Jiang Nian was stunned, turning to look at the class president.
"But... "
Li Qingrong acted as if nothing had happened, giving him a light look before lowering her eyes to the exam paper.
"Let's start the exam."
Jiang Nian: "...."
Qingqing can hold a grudge too, geez.
That afternoon, the sunset was a dim yellow.
Jiang Nian didn't go for dinner, opting to stay in the classroom and work on problems. Qi Xue had left him assignments, as had the petite Zhu Yin.
Aside from his training camp obligations, he had to squeeze in time to complete his assignments.
Suddenly, Yu Zhiyi entered the classroom carrying some wontons. She noted the dim surroundings, with most classmates having gone for dinner.
She set the food down and quietly walked over to his seat. She pursed her lips and tapped him on the shoulder.
"Hey!"
"Damn!" Jiang Nian was focused on his problems and was startled, turning to see Yu Yourong, "What's wrong with you?"
"Yes, what's up?" Yu Zhiyi knelt on Li Hua's chair, leaned closer, and asked in a lowered voice.
"What did Ji Ming want yesterday?"
"He said if I needed anything, just to find him."
"Seriously?" Yu Zhiyi's eyes brightened, clapping her hands, "Then why didn't you tell him?"
"Tell him what?"
"I've told you about my stuff so many times." Yu Zhiyi gently nudged him, quite annoyed.
Actually, it could work.
Jiang Nian also needed to dodge library duties, although he never worked there—it was Yu Zhiyi who always handled it for him.
"It's not that I can't, but it's a bit awkward to bring up." He declined, looking embarrassed.
Yu Zhiyi rolled her eyes at him. When Jiang Nian said it wasn't impossible, she knew he could do it.
What a jerk, always playing hard to get.
But she conceded, after all these back and forths, this was the first time he agreed. It was a rare chance.
"Could you also help me with the running drills?"
"I don't get it." Jiang Nian shook his head.
Yu Zhiyi was so frustrated she could bite her tongue but didn't want to waste any more words with him. The class would soon be filled again.
She took a deep breath, leaned close to Jiang Nian's ear, and whispered.
"Hmm?" Jiang Nian turned to look at her, the two of them eye to eye, "If you have hypoglycemia..."
"I do!" Yu Zhiyi affirmed with resolve, then pursed her lips and added, "And one more thing, the blacklist."
"Bastard! Get me off it."
"Oh, OK."
With that, Yu Zhiyi finally left satisfied. As she walked to the back of the classroom, she couldn't help but look back.
The sunset crept in through the window, resting on Jiang Nian's thin back. His side profile was clear, with narrow, thin eyelids.
She stared for a moment, muttering to herself.
"Doesn't look like a good person."
....
"Ha~~"
He Minjun massaged her lower back, glancing at her phone. Only then did she realize she had been standing, memorizing vocabulary, for over half an hour.
The dusk had already passed; it was time for evening self-study.
She stowed her vocabulary book into her bag and hurried downstairs through the dimly lit stairs of her rented apartment, peering across the road.
A few worn-out apartment buildings loomed, their walls peeling. The anti-theft windows rusted and blackened, with a red bra hanging on the window sill.
Further off, overlapping power lines crisscrossed the sky. Plump sparrows perched on them, resembling black periods.
He Minjun stopped, raised her phone, and snapped a picture, without knowing whom to share it with.
After a moment's thought, she sent it to Jiang Nian.
"[Picture]."
Jiang Nian: "???"
"Nothing, don't you think the composition of the sky is nice?" He Minjun typed, "Very atmospheric."
With a buzz, Jiang Nian replied.
"Bored senseless."
"I don't have balls."
"Bored out of your mind."
He Minjun: "...Crude!"
A while later, Jiang Nian sent her a picture. A pen on the desk, pinned under it was a score sheet.
"[Picture], do you think my pen is atmospheric?"
He Minjun zoomed in on the picture, seeing that six hundred and sixty-something total score, she couldn't help feeling frustrated.
Seriously, is that a human's score?
"No!!"
She stuffed her phone back into her bag in a huff, heading towards the school, planning to grab just a couple of bread for dinner.
"You're just getting here?"
A boy turned to her.
His name was Zhao Chuang, and he was in the same group as He Minjun. He seemed to be in some kind of mood lately, showing unusual warmth to her and the girls in class.
"I sent you a message yesterday, why didn't you reply?"
He Minjun was speechless, wondering how someone expects a normal classmate to reply with good night. She's big-hearted, not dumb.
"I don't touch my phone," she said with a smile, completely forgetting how she had just shared a picture with someone.
"Junjun!"
"We have training tomorrow, too; just thinking there's another week of this makes me want to die!!"
"You can jump with me."
Chen Yinghe and He Minjun were junior high classmates, though they went to different high schools after that, now repeating in the same class.
"I won't jump, I don't want to die." He Minjun sorted her textbooks on the desk, "If you jump, I'll burn incense for you."
"Hmph!"
"Can't handle it?" Zhao Chuang forced his way into the conversation.
Looking at his greasy face, Chen Yinghe said on purpose, "Junjun, how are things with that handsome guy?"
"What?" Zhao Chuang blanked.
"Ah, you don't know?" Chen Yinghe giggled, covering her mouth, "A handsome guy from senior year."
"Good-looking and smart. He's good friends with Junjun; they even take private lessons with Teacher Zhu."
"Don't talk nonsense." He Minjun's face felt warm, not from shyness but from the words "good friends."
Twenty minutes earlier, that guy had cursed her.
Zhao Chuang looked like he had been struck by lightning, his face turning green.
"What's his name?"
"What's it to you?" Chen Yinghe rolled her eyes, "They get along great; don't try to break them up."
"Achoo!!"
Jiang Nian sniffed, wondering who's cursing him.
Probably those repeating students.
Suddenly, his phone buzzed. If it was He Minjun, he'd definitely have a snarky comeback ready.
He opened it, discovering it was from a benefactor.
