Divine-level Base-Chapter 42: Demonized Giant Rat Swarm

After changing into the crude equipment the goblins had left behind, Shu Feng led Linga and the rest of the group deeper into the jungle.

Twenty-two Black Dog Void Demons fanned out around them, advancing ahead. This way, if they encountered any enemies, Shu Feng, who was in the rear, would know at once.

The two Spirit Warrior-level Black Dog Void Demons, however, stayed close by Shu Feng’s side, acting as his bodyguards.

Liu Zhen and Zou Qiang let out a terrified scream, immediately turned, and fled in disgrace.

Linga’s face went pale, his knees buckled, and he collapsed to the ground.

Zhong Jietong’s face was also pale, and she couldn’t stop herself from hiding behind Shu Feng.

Big Black pounced, getting to the cyan python’s side. Incredibly sharp claws shot out from its right paw as it swiped viciously at the python’s flank.

A long gash instantly appeared on the ferocious cyan python’s flank. A spray of blood gushed out, and the creature fell to the ground, writhing in pain. It took a while for its struggles to cease.

The cyan python, not quite dead yet, suddenly shot up and began to thrash about.

Linga jumped back in fright, retreating several steps. Then, blushing, he gripped his wooden club, charged at the cyan python, and began viciously striking its head. After a flurry of wild blows, he finally managed to beat the python to death.

"Level 4! Ah Feng, I leveled up! I reached Level 4!!"

The moment Linga finished off the cyan python, a look of pure elation flashed in his eyes as he shouted out loud.

Shu Feng smiled. "Congratulations!"

Only then did Liu Zhen and Zou Qiang walk over, their faces full of regret. If they hadn’t fled, the chance to kill the cyan python might have been theirs.

After dealing with the cyan python, Shu Feng and his group continued to press forward.

The Black Dog Void Demons that had been spread out quickly converged on Shu Feng and his party’s position.

The next moment, a rustling sound arose from all directions. One after another, giant rats—as large as house cats, with crimson eyes and bodies covered in black fur—began to charge madly toward them.

"Demonized Giant Rats!! Array Formation!"

Shu Feng’s expression changed drastically. At his command, the Black Dog Void Demons rapidly closed ranks, forming a circle.

With a wave of Shu Feng’s hand, a small legion consisting of a Goblin Leader, five Big Goblins, twenty goblins, a tiger, a Goblin Shaman, and a Dark Elf appeared within the inner circle.

The formation had barely been established when the dense swarm of black-furred Demonized Giant Rats charged wildly at the legion.

"Damn it, why are there so many of them?"

The moment Liu Zhen, Zou Qiang, and the others saw the teeming mass of Demonized Giant Rats, their legs went weak, and a look of pure fear flashed in their eyes.

The five Big Goblins and the shapely Dark Elf drew their bows and fired, and six Demonized Giant Rats were struck.

An arrow from the Dark Elf even pierced straight through a Demonized Giant Rat’s eye, killing it instantly.

After two volleys of arrows, the swarm of Demonized Giant Rats slammed viciously into Shu Feng’s Summoned Beast Corps.

The Goblin Leader swung its massive wooden club, smashing the charging Demonized Giant Rats into a bloody pulp.

Swarms of Demonized Giant Rats pounced from other directions, slamming hard against the wall of flesh formed by the Black Dog Void Demons.

The Black Dog Void Demons opened their gaping maws, biting off the heads of the pouncing rats in a single snap. They swiped with their claws, swatting the creatures away and tearing deep gashes into their bodies.

But the swarms of Demonized Giant Rats were utterly fearless, madly charging the formation of Black Dog Void Demons. They leaped and scrabbled frantically, trying to worm their way inside the defensive perimeter.

After sacrificing nearly a hundred of their own, a number of Demonized Giant Rats managed to forcefully climb over the backs of the Black Dog Void Demons and get inside.

"Go! Take them down!"

Shu Feng let out a sharp cry, drew a shortsword, and slashed at one of the Demonized Giant Rats.

’So tough!’

Shu Feng’s sword struck one of the Demonized Giant Rats, and it felt like hitting a thick sheet of leather. With great difficulty, he managed to open a long gash on its body, the force of the blow sending it flying.

Several Demonized Giant Rats pounced directly at Shu Feng.

Big Black and Erhei, guarding Shu Feng, opened their vast, bloody maws. CRUNCH! The upper bodies of two Demonized Giant Rats were bitten clean off. With a swipe of their claws, they sliced open two more. Bodies fell to the ground, spilling blood and viscera everywhere.

The two girls, Zhuo Qianlei and Zhong Jietong, guarded the Dark Elf, knocking away any Demonized Giant Rats that got close.

The Dark Elf acted like a turret, loosing arrow after arrow to kill one Demonized Giant Rat after another. Her archery skills were far superior to those of the Big Goblins; within a ten-meter range, none of her shots missed.

"Help me!!"

A pained scream came from Liu Zhen. Although he had acquired the Boxer’s Skills and his Fist Technique was even a bit sharper than Shu Feng’s, being besieged by several fearless Demonized Giant Rats exposed his lack of real combat experience. After barely managing to fight off a few of them, another one bit him, tearing off a large chunk of flesh and causing him to cry out in pain.

Shu Feng rushed over with Big Black and Erhei, his two Spirit Warrior-level Black Dog Void Demons. The two hounds attacked with tooth and claw, and in a frenzy of biting and tearing, they easily shredded the handful of Demonized Giant Rats.

Liu Zhen, however, immediately retreated to the back, tears streaming down his face. His body trembled, and he didn’t dare to step forward again.

’This guy is useless in a crisis!’

Shu Feng’s brow furrowed slightly. He then led Big Black and Erhei to charge directly into the areas where the Demonized Giant Rats were thickest.
