District 42-Chapter 385: Execution
Casper took Gungnir with him and turned his back to the now incapacitated Camilla.
The woman looked at him with wrath distorting her expression.
"Y-you! If you don’t kill me right now, be sure that you are gonna be the one getting killed! No matter if I need to cross Helheim to pursue you, I will end with your life at all costs!" Her pained and angry scream echoed through the hall. Her crazy looks came back right away and she struggled to get up, but her body was still paralyzed.
Casper didn’t mind her presence at all and just kept with his back turned to her. His face was still coldly looking at the other extreme of the Palace’s hall, where the black and white thrones of King Leif and Queen Freya were.
The soldier walked solemnly towards their thrones, bowing when he placed himself in front of them.
"It’s an honor to finally come to see you, Your Highness." As a matter of etiquette, it was better to interact first with the king, then to the Queen if she wished that you did so.
"You can look at me, White warrior. I do have a good impression of you." The woman said a bit blushed.
"I allow you to look at my Queen, Casper. Please, be careful with your words towards her."
The soldier bowed once again, both as a greet and also showing gratitude.
"This humble warrior is honored to be able to see your face and greet you, Your Majesty. I am glad that my worth was proved to be enough not to lower my head in front of you and the King."
Casper’s words were a delight to the Queen’s ears. She got satisfied with his show of politeness. It was just as expected from someone who got along with their children.
"Oh my~. Now I see why Vick had a like on you. After that barbarous display of strength and wrath in the previous month, I was sure that you were just a barbarian that didn’t have any idea of how to bow properly, at least, but I see that you are very polite. I would address you as a knight rather than just a filthy and sweaty warrior." The Queen joked.
Now that she saw that the leader of the Frelsis got defeated in front of her, and their most powerful weapon was retrieved, she wasn’t worried about anything and afforded herself to relax a bit.
"That’s right, Freya. You remembered me that I need to thank this knight for saving our daughter and fighting for us and the Royal Family. Your efforts surely will be rewarded properly. I myself will take the duty to choose something suitable for you on my treasures, maybe find a house that can bestow you with prestige and a surname, so you can become a Jarl as well." The King didn’t have that stern face anymore when talking to Casper. Actually, he seemed more youthful now. His hands gesticulated with energy and his voice wasn’t as hoarse as before.
"You don’t need to thank me at all, Your Highness. All I did up until now was nothing but a duty. I am just a humble warrior, as I said. A humble warrior that chose the right side, differently from others." Casper gave a side-long glance to Camilla as she shouted all sorts of curses against him.
As she heard their conversation, Camilla’s heart got each time more broken due to their words. Her eyes were filled with tears as she pointlessly tried to reach Casper, but got no response from her body.
’I need to take Gungnir! I need to take it before he delivers it to them! I need to do something and retrieve the only chance that my folk has to be free again. Please. Please!’
"Please!" She shouted, stepping on her pride completely. "Please, I beg you with all my will, give it back to me! I will give you anything you want, I will do anything you wish, but please, give it back, give it back... give it!" She shouted as tears flowed out of her eyes.
What she saw there wasn’t just a betrayal, nor a powerful weapon getting stolen. In Camilla’s eyes, the scene in front of her were five decades of death, battles, and struggles wasted. The people who died for the sake of freedom were probably looking at her with bitter expressions now and cursing her name.
However, no matter how much she shouted, Casper wouldn’t look backward. He ignored her as if she wasn’t present in that room.
He continued to talk to the King and the Queen without even glancing at her again. 𝓯𝙧𝓮𝓮𝒘𝓮𝙗𝙣𝒐𝒗𝒆𝓵.𝓬𝓸𝒎
"What a noisy girl... Casper, will you kill her? You don’t need to hold back just because we are here. A lot of blood covered the marble floor of this palace before. Some more Frelsi blood won’t hurt." The Queen looked at Camilla with annoyance.
"Yes. She and her father are being a nuisance for a long time. I know you did a lot for us already, but can you bring her head to us as well? You are the one who shall kill that crazy witch."
The soldier pondered for a while, still not looking at Camilla.
"No, don’t worry about it. It won’t do any good to just kill her right off the bat. She must be maintained as a prisoner, so the morale of her troops will go down. Also, there is the fact that she can be executed in a public space, so everyone will see what happens when they try to go against the Royal Family. Just like what you normally do."
The King grinned at Casper, passing his hand on his voluminous black beard.
"Yes... It would be just as awesome. Good idea, White warrior! Then, I declare that she will go to the dungeon of this palace, then get executed. After the execution, I want you to give me Gungnir back as a signal of power in a luxurious ceremony! It will surely shake the moods on the district!" The King announced.
’Right... Everything is good so far...’ Casper thought, smiling.
