District 42-Chapter 382: Deciding the destiny
Casper thought that he was gone once he saw that explosion of energy coming in his direction. He couldn’t feel that Yanke had predicted that outcome and was already teleporting him to their main objective.
He got so desperate, that he closed his eyes tightly and remained like that until his partner contacted him again.
[ Master, it’s been a while since you are in this same position. I think it’s about time to realize that you didn’t die. ]
’Oh... Ok... I was waiting for you to say so, actually...’ The soldier sighed, looking around and seeing that he was on an entirely different floor of the Castle.
’Am I in the right place?’ He asked. Casper wasn’t too familiar with that floor. The last time that he went there, he got driven crazy and didn’t look around too much. Also, he was teleported right away inside a building.
’Why didn’t you teleport me inside?’
[ I thought that it would be very risky to get there right off the bat. After all, we can’t know what kind of thing we will find when we get there. It is better if we play it safe, in my opinion. ]
The soldier nodded his head. He agreed with Yanke on that matter. If he chose to be reckless at that moment, he would mess with the core of his plan. If that happened, every single thing that he did until now would be pointless.
’This mission isn’t like Black Widow. It isn’t something that has the lives of a couple of people in my hands. It’s not a squad under my control anymore. Instead, there is a whole folk that is hoping to see the end of this war and I need to bring the best results possible!’
With resolution in his eyes, the soldier walked in the direction of a huge building made mostly of white marble.
It was the palace of King Leif.
Some steps ahead, Casper would find his destiny, the very thing that brought him to that district. His main objective was right in front of him.
’I will do it.’
[ I am right here to help you, Master. We are together, as a unit, until the end. ]
’Sure, buddy. Until the end.’ He smiled faintly, then began to walk toward the white palace.
...
Camilla was kind of bored.
She didn’t want to lose at all, but she was hoping that Casper would be able to reach her. If he could only step inside that palace, at least, she would have a bit of fun. However, the battle in Uppsala began a long while ago and he didn’t show up.
’Maybe he already died... He is a man of surprises, after all.’ She pouted.
That idea wasn’t pleasant for her at all, but she needed to be realist.
Camilla’s heart skipped a bit once she heard the loud sound of the palace’s gates opening.
From those gates, the figure of a white-haired man with a black mask appeared walking.
He slowly entered that place while looking to the sides as if concerned that there would be anyone else inside the palace except Camilla.
’Ah...’ Camilla thought, biting her lips. ’I was waiting to see that... Since the day when he fought against my men here, trying to avenge and protect that princess, I have been wanting to see that stare of his again!’
Camilla looked at his serious and resolute eyes with amusement and excitement. She was longing to see Casper’s face for a long while. She wanted to see his wrath again, she wanted to fight with him once and for all. After so much time holding herself back for the sake of his father’s plan, she was overwhelmed by her feelings.
Also, deep inside, Camilla wanted that Casper went to their side.
She knew the value that the White warrior had.
Javir made it obvious so she could understand why Casper was the master key for all that trouble to end.
The Frelsi woman wanted to solve that by conversing with their fists and weapons in a real battle for the destiny of that district.
This scenario alone made the hair on her neck stand on end. She felt like the entire district was in her hands right then and there. It was such a huge responsibility, such a milestone, that she couldn’t help but feel excited about it. She was about to have the battle that would stay forever carved into the history of their folk.
"What do you think about all this situation, White warrior? Two people, one destiny, one single result. We are not fighting for a grudge anymore, we are not fighting for survival, we are here to decide the very end of this story, we are here to MAKE history. Don’t you feel this excitement arise? Don’t you think that it is amazing? For the first time in your life, don’t you think that you are just like the same as a... as a god?"
Casper stopped to walk. His face didn’t even flinch. He had the same expression as before.
"Do you think you are a god of some sort, Camilla?"
"Somewhat..."
"Do you think that deciding the destiny of someone is how it is to be a god?"
Camilla wasn’t understanding Casper’s point, but answered, regardless.
"Yes."
"Isn’t that the same as they did with your mother? They decided their destiny by pointing their guns at her. They probably felt like gods at that moment." He blatantly said.
Camilla felt a quick wave of anger dominate her. Her eyes widened at once and she charged forward.
Her speed was amazing, but Casper didn’t get surprised by that. Yanke anticipated her attack and sent a signal through Casper’s body, so he swung his sword before she could attack him with her dagger. Their blades locked.
"Camilla what I am saying is that this district doesn’t need gods anymore! Because these god wanna-be are the people that steal our freedom!"
"Shut up! Shut the hell up and fight me once and for all!"
