Chapter 326: Casper’s mistake

After MMA finished his story, the group looked back to the figure of Brenna laying in one of the beds. She still had her aloof eyes, looking to the ceiling as if it was the most interesting thing in the world.

"If it wasn’t for Brenna, we all would be dead by now. I don’t know what exactly could have happened if I choose to fight against that thing, but one thing is for sure: I wouldn’t stand a chance of winning. That’s why I did what needed to be done and stayed distant of the battle, working in other things." The genius scientist finished once he noticed their stares at the oracle woman.

"Wait a minute. If you can’t beat Jomurgand, who will do it? After all, what is different by now? You couldn’t just get stronger out of nowhere, right?" Casper asked. He was trying to find any holes in MMA’s story. Even now, he couldn’t accept that they had someone who claimed to be so strong on their team, and even so, this person didn’t do anything to help. 𝕗𝚛𝚎𝚎𝐰𝗲𝗯𝗻𝚘𝚟𝚎𝗹.𝕔𝐨𝕞

"You are right, Casper. No warrior can get so strong in such a short span. However, I am not the usual warrior that you find out there. Not the least. Every second that you let your eyes off me, I will get stronger. Believe in me that I am not the same person that I was three days ago. After several hours working nonstop in order to achieve a better version of myself, I could finally pull through it."

Casper looked around perplexed. He tried to find any hint of truth in MMA’s words by looking at the other Aesirs. In his mind, they probably would be as flabbergasted as him. It was inconceivable that someone could claim such a thing and expect that others would really believe in him.

Nonetheless, the White warrior felt like he was hit hard on his head once he saw that everyone, including Vick, was looking to MMA as if it was normal.

"H-Hey guys, are you serious? This guy can do something like this?" He asked while gesturing exaggeratedly.

"Your emotional is dominating your thoughts too often ultimately, White warrior," Freygar commented, glancing at him. "I wonder if you did something reckless."

"Y-You are avoiding my question..." Casper wasn’t willing to answer that comment, nor give any credit to it.

"It is possible for MMA, White warrior," Vick spoke in a tired voice. With that many events happening all at once, she was getting exhausted. Not her body, but her mind.

"How...?" Casper insisted in a better response.

"You will see soon in the battle that he is not human, White warrior. Just wait and see." Rurik spoke, sighing hard and massaging his temple.

The soldier decided to get quiet for the time being. He had run out of arguments.

However, MMA never took his glare off Casper. At some point, their eyes locked.

"Any problem, MMA?" The soldier narrowed his eyes.

"No. Not at all. It’s just that I considered Freygar’s comment, and I do think that you are acting off of your usual self. Why is that?"

The soldier didn’t want to answer that question, so he keep his mouth shut while crossing his arms.

"The fool injected Berseker on his body," Canute said without hesitation.

Casper got up from the bed, turning to him and trying to walk towards his bed. His face got red due to the anger and a vein popped up in his forehead. He was going mad just because of that, which wasn’t something that his normal self would do.

But, before the soldier could give a single step to approach Canute, MMA stood up right after him and put his body in front of Casper.

"I won’t do it if I was you, White warrior. A step more and I will rip off your legs barehanded. It won’t be a good sight, though, nor quick or painless."

The soldier felt deep in his heart that the genius scientist was confident that he could do it, and throughout his experiences in District 42 he learned not to underestimate what people there said, particularly the Aesirs.

He clicked his tongue, sitting slowly on the bed again.

After a few seconds of awkward silence, Casper decided to tell them the truth. The group already knew that something like this could have happened, and that was why they were so worried about the White warrior.

"You don’t have any idea of the mess you just entered by yourself, you jerk!" Vick yelled at him, but then grimaced in pain once she felt her entire body tremble due to the effort.

The Aesirs got momentaneously concerned about her but switched their attention to Casper again after they concluded that she was still ok.

"You surely is an air-headed guy sometimes..." Freygar spoke, rubbing his hair.

"Definitely." Canute agreed.

Rurik and Ari didn’t need to say anything in order to show their thoughts about that.

"I don’t even know what are you talking about, damn it! Can someone explain before treating me like this, at least!?"

Casper was getting frustrated.

Everyone there did their best to keep the citizens alive and save them. However, in Casper’s case, his best wasn’t enough, so he couldn’t remain fighting with the strength he got those days. Berseker sure was a desperate measure taken due to the wrath that he was feeling at that moment, but it was his only option as well.

"I didn’t see any other way around that situation at that time, ok? It’s not like I can get strong all of a sudden, clone myself, use an exoskeleton carefreely, teleport, explode things in an incredible precision of time and space, or whatever the thing. I always need to rely on my brain and ordinary abilities to do everything."

After what he said, the group couldn’t help but feel a bit of empathy for him. They looked at each other awkwardly, everyone realizing how much Casper needed to struggle to catch up with them.

MMA sighed, leaning his body forward and glaring at Casper.

"Ok, I will explain to you..."
