Disaster Apocalypse: Farming, Family, and My Hidden Secret Space-Chapter 87. Go again
Chapter 87: 87. Go again
Hua Yunao also felt good about it and didn’t mind Luo Song’s brief words.
After all, this guy’s personality is just like that; except for a few familiar ones who can see him smile, he’s even colder towards others.
Hua Yunao still doesn’t understand how he caught Luo Song’s eye and became friends.
Could it be just because he helped him with homework? But he was also compensated for it.
Hua Yunao was very satisfied with Luo Song’s demeanor; if he were to show disdain, Hua Yunao would have to reconsider their relationship.
"I didn’t expect we would have such a fate, but despite the gratitude, bringing so many things is too much." Thinking of Luo Song’s reason for coming, Hua Yunao couldn’t help but sigh.
"They are not for you." Luo Song glanced at Hua Yunao and said indifferently.
"Alright then, since your family is wealthy, our family will have a feast today." Hua Yunao chuckled.
Luo Song also pursed his lips into a gentle smile.
"You haven’t been to the academy these days, let me tell you about what the master has been teaching."
As soon as the topic of reading came up, Hua Yunao’s eyes lit up.
Luo Song: "..."
Speechlessly looking at Hua Yunao, who perked up at the mention of books.
"No need, the doctor said I need to calm down for a while. Why don’t you take me to stroll around the courtyard?"
Entering the academy was only to reassure his grandfather; he already knew the contents well and didn’t want to go through it again.
"Is that so..." Hua Yunao regrettably put down the book, "Alright, let me show you around our courtyard."
The steward, Luo, rushed to drape a cloak over his master and stuffed a hand warmer into his hands.
After about half an hour, Luo Song and the Hua family were seated again in the main hall, the table covered with sumptuous dishes.
Even the steward, who usually didn’t dine at the table, and the servant each had their portion, though they were to eat in the kitchen.
Chicken, duck, fish, and meat were all served, which was quite a feast for a farming household.
Looking at the dishes on the table, Luo Song’s eyes shifted slightly, feeling touched.
This was probably all the good food they had at home.
"Grandfather Hua, Uncle Hua, this is too extravagant."
"Nothing much, just our homegrown stuff. You’re at our home, so don’t be a stranger. Help yourself while it’s hot; try your Grandma Hua’s and Auntie’s cooking." Old man Hua smiled warmly.
Old Mrs. Hua took a new spoon and served Luo Song a bowl full of chicken soup.
"You must have suffered quite a bit with your illness, drink some soup to replenish yourself."
Seeing a child about the size of her grandson, with a thin and pale face, old Mrs. Hua couldn’t help but feel saddened.
"Thank you, Grandma Hua," Luo Song quickly accepted, smiling, as the Hua family members filled his bowl with dishes using communal chopsticks.
Although it was unfamiliar, he was moved by their warmth, and Luo Song’s smile became more genuine.
The lively chatter continued, and thus, for the first time in a while, Luo Song ate until he was full at the hospitable Hua family’s table, finding the food genuinely delicious without the slightest bitterness.
Luo Song’s sense of taste was naturally more sensitive than others, and he noticed this the moment the food entered his mouth. Although surprised, he didn’t dwell on it.
It wasn’t until he returned home and found a package of pure white snow salt among the gifts from the Hua family that he was completely astonished.
Regarding the return gifts, Mrs. Hua and Mrs. Qi had indeed been troubled for a while.
Young Master Luo obviously lacked nothing at home, so they finally prepared some wild goods collected from the mountain, eggs stored at home, and homegrown vegetables.
Seeing that Luo Song liked her pickled vegetables, old Mrs. Hua packed two jars for him to take away.
The snow salt, however, was secretly slipped in by Hua Jin.
The space already had over a thousand pounds of snow salt stored, enough to last a lifetime for themselves.
Moreover, Hua Jin’s intention was not just for personal consumption but also to let her family lead a good life.
Luo Song might be an opportunity.
The Luo family’s business was extensive, not just in the town but also in the city and even the state capital. Coupled with the life-saving debt between them, Hua Jin thought cooperation or even a buyout by the Luo family was possible.
It was said that after Luo Song got over his initial shock and tasted it, his eyes lit up startlingly.
"Master?" Steward Luo was also delighted, never having seen salt so white as snow. He couldn’t help but excitedly exclaim, taking another pinch to taste.
"Master, is this salt... is this salt made by the Hua family?" Steward Luo was somewhat agitated.
Although just a steward, he also managed the town’s business, and seeing something so good naturally excited any businessman.
"Uncle Luo, don’t get excited."
Even as he said this, not just Uncle Luo, but Luo Song himself, usually calm and composed, took several deep breaths to suppress the excitement in his chest.
The Hua family had given him such a big surprise; if this snow-white salt was indeed made by the Hua family, Luo Song felt they should seriously talk with Uncle Hua.
Even though he stayed in the small Shanggu Town, it was because Shanggu Town was his mother’s hometown and the place where the Luo family started, filled with rare memories of his mother, a place he was willing to stay.
As for his father... hmph... thinking of that man who cared only about silver, who would stop at nothing for more silver and go so far as to abandon his wife and child for business, a look of disdain flashed in Luo Song’s eyes.
When he left that family with his mother and willingly dropped that man’s surname, Luo Song had vowed to return all the shame that man brought to his mother.
Didn’t he love silver? Then Luo Song would earn a lot of silver, making the man taste the fall from grace and the days of poverty and hunger.
Now the opportunity had come; if the Luo family grasped the salt-making method, offering it to the court to obtain exclusive trading rights, the day to crush the state city Wang family underfoot wouldn’t be far.
Murderous intent flashed briefly in Luo Song’s eyes.
Seeing this, Uncle Luo felt a pang of heartache, knowing the master was reminded of the past again, and quickly called out "Master" to interrupt his thoughts.
Luo Song smiled faintly, "It’s nothing; we’ll visit Hua Village again tomorrow."
"Okay," upon hearing this, Steward Luo was overjoyed and nodded quickly.
Such a great opportunity, he had worried that the master would let go because of their lifesaving debt, but thankfully the master could weigh these matters correctly, putting Steward Luo at ease.
He then personally watched over the servant to assist the master in washing and resting, only returning to his own room after the room’s lights dimmed.
A night of good dreams, and upon waking, everyone was greeted again by a snowy ground and flying snowflakes.
Another snowy day.
But just as the snow in the courtyard had barely been cleared, the Hua family’s door was knocked on again; seeing the visitor, everyone except Hua Jin was surprised.
"Young Master Luo, you..." said Hua Chengtian, who had just returned home with his son, looking suspiciously at Luo Song, though his hands quickly moved to remove the door bar blocking the entrance.
Didn’t they just express their gratitude yesterday, and now he’s back to thank them again today?
And so early in the morning, isn’t it cold?
"Sorry to bother you again, Uncle Hua," said Luo Song, smiling as he entered the courtyard with the help of his steward, taking off his cloak, exuding a noble aura, even making the snowflakes seem to glow with prestige.
