Disaster Apocalypse: Farming, Family, and My Hidden Secret Space-Chapter 85. Dazed, frightened
Chapter 85: 85. Dazed, frightened
He proactively pulled open the grass curtain, revealing a light smile just as Luo Song stepped in.
The bright eyes made Luo Song’s gaze flicker, and facing the little girl who was also a lifesaver, Luo Song didn’t hesitate to pull out a smile, while his sharp nose twitched slightly.
There was a sweet fragrance in the room, very pleasant.
"Quickly, come in and warm up a bit," Hua’s old woman welcomed warmly.
Regardless of why this young gentleman came to their home, being the classmate of her grandson couldn’t be neglected, as he might be a valuable connection for her grandson in the future.
As she spoke, the old woman gathered the stools arranged in a circle indoors, while Hua Old Man led them to sit in the armchair in the main room.
As guests, they couldn’t sit around the charcoal basin; though warmer, it was not a proper way to treat guests.
Luo Song quickly declined modestly; he was just a junior, how could he dare to take the honored seat, so he sat beside the old master.
Meanwhile, the steward and servants carried the gifts inside one by one, making the previously spacious main room suddenly much narrower, showing how much was brought.
Hua Chengtian: "..."
The somewhat bewildered Hua family members in the room all looked puzzled at Luo Song and Hua Yunao, his classmate.
Hua Yunao was also perplexed, not understanding why a classmate who hadn’t been to the academy for over half a month suddenly appeared and brought such a shock and even came to his home.
So what exactly happened?
Indeed their relationship at the academy was good, but bringing an entire room of things was a bit too much, right?
"Luo..."
"Young Master Luo, you came, but why bring so many things? It’s too formal."
His father’s voice made Hua Yunao decisively shut up.
Hua Chengtian smiled, the family’s puzzlement reminded him that he had not told them about rescuing someone on the road since returning home more than half a month ago, feeling inexplicably guilty.
Can’t blame him though; when he got home, it was already midnight, and after waking, he was busy with coarse salt matters, so he couldn’t think of anything else and forgot over time.
As for Hua Jin, he assumed his father had mentioned it, so naturally, he didn’t speak more.
The guilt on his father’s face was too obvious; Hua Jin also realized.
No wonder big brother didn’t react before, he didn’t know at all.
Luo Song bowed, "Uncle Hua is the one being polite. Apologies, I should have come to thank you earlier, but my health had not been well, and only improved recently."
"Oh, it’s nothing, getting well is what matters, Young Master Luo, is your health alright now?"
Facing Luo Song, who was ceremonious in manners, Hua Chengtian was somewhat uncomfortable, but still asked with concern.
"Thank you for your concern, Uncle Hua, I am alright now."
"That’s good, but don’t blame Uncle Hua for saying, be extra careful when going out in the future."
The current weather can soak you to the skin and freeze you outside, and if not found in a night, one could freeze to death, how dangerous!
"Yes, Uncle Hua is right," Luo Song nodded.
"Uncle Hua, these are some of my heartfelt tokens, please don’t be polite with me." Looking at the gifts in the room, Luo Song spoke again, sincerely and earnestly.
"If it weren’t for Uncle Hua saving me, my life might have been lost out there; these are just some everyday food and common items, a little token of my appreciation."
Everything is said to be ordinary, but they are worth dozens of taels of silver.
Just the good rice and flour filled several jute bags, and there was even more chicken, duck, fish, and meat brought, not only pork, but also lamb, and even rare beef.
And those stacks of fabric were clearly carefully selected, mostly good materials, but also some commonly worn ones, so for a few years one wouldn’t worry about having new clothes to wear.
Not to mention various snacks, tea, supplements, spirits, and even many medicinal herbs were brought; almost every imaginable gift was included.
Seeing these so-called ’nothing much’ items in the room, including Hua Jin, the Hua family couldn’t help but twitch their mouths.
This is the difference between the rich and ordinary folks!
Finally Hua Old Man and others understood why the grandson’s classmate suddenly came over.
Turned out he was saved by the son, no wonder he came formally with gifts to thank.
Hua Old Man discreetly glared at his son, such an event wasn’t even mentioned, getting less reliable with age. ƒreewebɳovel.com
"But... this is too much, saving someone was merely a convenient act, Young Master Luo needn’t do this," Hua Chengtian said with difficulty.
"Right, what Yun Ao’s father said is true, since encountered, naturally couldn’t stand by idly, Young Master Luo, don’t take it to heart, receiving the emotions is enough, no need for gifts," echoed Hua Old Man.
"Grandpa Hua, Uncle Hua, are you dissatisfied with the few things I brought?" Luo Song’s smile paused, looking disappointed.
"No no..." the two hastily waved their hands.
How could it be too few, it’s just because there’s too much, making it harder to accept.
"Then don’t be polite, besides, these can never compare to the act of saving a life," Luo Song said smoothly.
Hua Old Man looked at his son, then at his wife, and finally nodded.
He realized Young Master Luo came to express gratitude, and these things wouldn’t be taken back if not accepted.
As they say, things are valuable but indeed cannot compare to a life, thinking of this made him feel much more relaxed.
"What can this old man say, Young Master Luo?" Hua Old Man smiled awkwardly.
Just then, Qi’s wife came in with a pot of hot water.
"Come, have some water to warm up," Hua’s old woman immediately signaled the daughter-in-law, feeling more and more satisfied with her grandson’s classmate.
Not only is he good-looking, but importantly, knows gratitude, coming as soon as his health permitted.
Gazing at the multitude of gifts in the hall, Hua’s old woman couldn’t hide her smile.
It’s not being shallow, who doesn’t like gifts after all!
Luo Song didn’t stand on ceremony, taking the farmer’s rough bowl to drink hot water, doing so naturally without a hint of disdain, showing none of a rich person’s superiority, which was quite commendable.
"Thank you, Aunt," Luo Song returned a smile.
"No need to be polite," Qi’s wife also smiled, glimpsing the items in the room, looking at her mother-in-law and seeing her nod in agreement, she warmly said, "Coming from so far, no need to rush away, stay for lunch at Aunt’s place and try her cooking."
In any case, the son’s classmate braved the snow, definitely should stay for a warm meal, not to mention bringing so many gifts.
"Then I will shamelessly stay," Luo Song’s eyes brightened, accepting without reservation.
The Hua family gave him a very good feeling; with so many gifts, if they were shallow, how could they stay calm, but friend’s family showed no greed over these things.
They treated him like a junior, with the right attitude, neither too caring nor calculating, straightforwardly observing him.
If there was anything, it’s only feeling awkward over the excessive gifts.
Indeed, to cultivate someone as steady as Hua Yunao, how could the family environment be anything but good?
